I finally made it too!!
Needed some goggles for the bright lights and instead of wearing out my sneakers, I think I went through a dozen magic carpets. My goodness, if I didn't have the WT I would have never been able to finish the game. I'm just opposite you, stusue ~ I didn't have much trouble getting to Task 8 but from then on, I had to keep checking what I needed and where to go. Didn't feel like wandering around and I know I picked up a lot of flowers and scrolls but took them back to the house and when I needed them, they weren't there.
I saw the card game and got one of the 3 right, too fast for me and the drinking game, I was all over the place. Might get one here and there but got so frustrated, went to the forum to see if there were any tips and one guy did post an awesome tip and when I tried it, I was able to get through finally about the third or fourth try. All in all, I'm glad I played it and can mark it finished on my schedule. Would have totally given up on it on my own.
Came back to post and saw barregar's inspirational music thread and man, did I ever need to listen to a couple of those. I was exhausted after finishing the game so it was nice and soothing to listen and relax to. Thanks!! Think I'll go play a little of Imperial Island before bedtime.

Well, I guess I should have waited but decided to go ahead and get $.99 game along with my remaining GCC this weekend since I have enough PCC's to use up and that would have been 2 more punches. You know it's getting time to cancel when you're having trouble finding games that look worth getting. I went to buy one and realized I already had it but it wasn't on my list of games I keep.
Games from this weekend:
Amusement World (still had time on trial and decided it was fun enough to get)
Forest Legends: The Call of Love
Games from PCC's today (all oldies):
The Flying Dutchman - In the Ghost Prison
Margrave: The Blacksmith's Daughter
Annabel
Puzzle Bots
Wizard Land

I remember my first games purchased at BFG and they were Madame Fate, Dr. Lynch: Grave Secrets, Escape the Museum. Basically long games, eventually finished except MF which I have to replay to actually call finished. I guess you could call them straight HOG's, although MF had the morphing items which I love. Over time, I have ventured into HOPA's and IHOPA's which I love for the achievements and collectibles but sometimes leave me frustrated when I can't logically figure out what to do next. I don't like using WT's but don't have time to be frustrated by my games, RL gives me enough of that!!
Next favorite is M3's as they are fun to do when you only have a little time to play but invariably end up spending way more time than planned. My favorite is Cave Quest and the 7 Wonders games. LFG's frustrate me and just don't care for TMG's, too hectic for me. I love arcade, mahjong and word games but get my fill of those from POGO and the two-month challenges I work on in my other game forums.
I think my love of HO games goes back to the early days of the Highlight magazine that I loved when I was a child as it had lots of those pictures with hidden objects. I've always been competitive by nature and love the sense of accomplishment you get from completing something; whether it be a game, puzzle, book, X-stitch project, doesn't matter, it's the fun of the journey and the satisfaction of a task, job well done.

Love reading your posts, stusue, they crack me up. Glad you are ahead of us giving us insight into the game. As to Task 8, now I don't feel so inadequate since others are having same problems as me. Congrats on getting through Task 8, barre. I did find cookbook early in the game but didn't have it with me when I went into space so had to go back. Not knowing what I was doing, I had to throw away stuff at first and start over. Didn't realize I could keep the sauce for all recipes and once didn't have a raw egg and was not sure how to continue. Also garlic cloves stumped me in one, to the point I had to look at WT. Finally got it all together and enjoyed the many attempts ~ kinda like me in a real kitchen (lol).
I'm going to wait till later today to try the ship game again, now that I know how to do it, it should go a lot faster but will definitely, save, save, save. Hope the rest of Task 8 doesn't take as long.
Going to look at BPM and probably use half my PCC's today and save the rest for next Monday as I am cancelling for sure before the 20th. This group play has helped me focus more on playing and hope to start whittling down my hoard of games.

Well, I'm not sure I can do anymore tonight. I managed the cooking game after a few tries and then proceeded to the ships minigame, OMG, I had to look at the WT to figure out how to do it and did save before I even got through talking to the guard, and managed to make it through on my 2nd try. BUT I forgot to save afterward, a MUST, and got kicked out of the game, stupid me going where I should not have gone. So now my save took me back to the guard again and I'm not up to doing the shooting again. Be Forewarned it is HARD!!! So will try again tomorrow and be sure and take a shot after I finish. This game may be the death of me but I refuse to DEX it yet!

I used the kitchen cup for water first and then realized the mug was what the WT suggested and as far as iron, there are lots of nails around and even if you magnetized it, there are others. I wrote the 4 spells down on a pad so that helped when I needed to figure out which one was needed. I just couldn't remember to place it on the retort. Trying to find the coffee was my first stump so my printed WT helped since I only had to look at the particular scene. When I was still working, I printed out some of the LFG WT's so I wouldn't have to go in and out of the game.
I made it to Task 8 and it looks like a doozy. I can imagine spending lots of time on it like stusue did and don't feel bad, I got kicked out twice too at one point. Did OK on the fishing game but I must not be saving right as I keep going back to the Shaman's tent and I know I got farther than that. Really trying not to use the WT yet on Task 8 as there is so much to check out and see. Really liking this game and so far I don't feel "dumb" which I did on a couple of other LFG games I tried. But that was early in my game playing days so maybe I've progressed a little since then. Still don't have much common sense though. Getting ready to start playing again if I don't get sleepy. The dog and I took Dad over to see Mom and stopped for a malt and root beer float so may get drowsy. Just take an hour or so nap and I'm usually good to go. That's one thing I love about being off work, I can now take naps when I feel like it.

Meg, speaking of M-3's, do you have Imperial Island? I just bought it, and I love it! It's very innovative, both M-3 and builder, and no timer worries.
Ditto

Well, I started last night because I had some time and you never know when something might happen with my folks. I only had to consult the WT once last night when I couldn't figure out where something was and I was stumped. Back at it this morning and doing pretty good except for remembering what to do with the spells. Had to look at the WT for that and hope to remember now, slow learning curve I guess. I'm up to Task 5 and remembered I bought a roast for this weekend so need to stop and get it on as it takes 3-4 hrs. So will do that, eat a bite and check my other forums and then probably play some more this aft/evening. I'm really liking it a lot and I guess I haven't got to a mini-game yet as I haven't been kicked out yet. Did do a save before I quit last night then realized there was an autosave so I will remember to save before the mini-game. Thanks sue for the tip re minigames and I hope your back gets to feeling better ~ nothing worse than a sore back.

Everyone ready for Green Moon. I found my printed out version of the WT and also DL the one from BFG since it has pics and the written one only looks to have puzzle solutions, maybe. From reading the intro though, it does say you only have 14 spots in inventory and in a review from Gameboomers, the guy said he was picking up anything that wasn't nailed down so you do have to put things back where you found them if you need something else?? He said to just find a place and set them down. Also, apparently important to save, save which I always seemed to have a problem figuring out how to do. From the review I read, sounds like a fun game, a mix between casual and adventure.

Wow. You guys are playing machines. I never seem to find enough time to play.
Don't feel bad misscatlady. I'm in the same boat right now with stuff I have to do for my folks plus my other game forums. I'm also a fairly slow player, I think, but sometimes I get in the mood and everything else takes a back seat. At least, they are always there when we do have time.
I heard back from CS about the Nancy Drew game and apparently the old GM had a tweek made to it to help with activation issues and this time it worked. I also got an update notice in my GM about Imperial Island and when I tried to update it said "error downloading" so just uninstalled and reinstalled from my Purchase History and it did fine. Don't know if it had the update but played a little last night and it was fun. Lots to do and I can see that it's going to be one of those where you want to play one more board. I had trouble at first with the look of the tiles, kept confusing some of them so that will take some getting use to.
