Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I wrote into CS about Sonya saying that I bought it on the French site and if they had anything that they could do so I could get it to play in English.  Also, at the end I wrote that I still haven't received my 60% off coupon for d/l Midnight Castle.

I don't even think that they read it.  First off they totally ignored my question about the Midnight Castle coupon and second they have main problem (game is in French) under Game crashing/Freezing.  I did get a coupon though.  I don't know if I want to use it for Sonya which is years old or use it for Awakening: The Redleaf Forest.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I am enjoying Weird Park: Broken Tune.  I have the CE on this one and back then you couldn't enjoy the extras until the main game is finished.  I am so glad that developers have changed that.  I want to use the wallpaper while playing and not afterwards. I remember reading a few reviews back then saying that they wouldn't buy the CE because you couldn't access the extras until the main game is over.  Don't remember who the reviewer was though.  I though maybe it was Gamergirl, but probably wrong.

Tirama...Glad to know it wasn't a bug, but slow computers responsible for Midnight Castle problems.  I already deleted my game out and I'm not going to fall for anymore 60% off offers.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

sunshinej - I'm a happy gamer, but I imagine that some people aren't going to be happy learning that their computer isn't "good" enough.

I sympathize with those who can't afford a new machine, but people wants games with all the bells and whistles.  They don't want to play games that look like they were made 7 years ago.  Well these newer games might not be able to be played on a computer that was made 7 years ago.  And they very well may not work on a lower end model bought 3 months ago, either.

Midnight Castle uses a much larger percentage of the cpu than AW or ART.  Probably because it looks more like a HOPA than the other two games.  There was even a 5% difference in cpu usage between the two BoomZap games, with ART using less resources even when loading and scrolling through the auction (which has way more items for sale than AK does).

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Well I had a bunch of PCCs expiring June 6 and 13 so I used them up to day and got:

Black Rainbow
Jane Angel 2
The Fog
Chronicles of Vida
Greed The Mad Scientist

I also had the 60% of coupon I had received for the MC download, which actually ended up giving me a free game, so I think it was 60% off retail which paid my member price, so a nice surprise.  And I got Fatal Passion Art Prison CE.  I read you all talking about it and was surprised I had not even dl`d it.  Strange.  So I picked it up.

I also sent CS an inquiry about the 60% off coupon for the AK dl.

Last night I started Royal Trouble, a game I got in October 2011.  It is a fun, quirky game.  I don`t mind scrolling thru the dialogue. I like the cartoon quality of it.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

May would have been a good month if it hadn't been for that Memorial Day BOGOF at BFG.  I finished 5 games but bought 13.

Saturday I noticed that I had 4 punches on my card.  Unfortunately I used PCCs to get 2 SEs, not remembering that PCCs don't get punches except on BPM.  Oh well.

Right niow I'm playing MYSTIKA 2.  I'm really enjoying it!  It's mostly M3 but has a slight builder aspect -- coins you earn build your sanctuary.  There are no choices though.  There are very occasional HOS.  There are Trophies.  There are challenge boards -- completely clear the board (you have to select carefully or the tiles left won't match up), clear the board in X number of moves, open the cages and free the "luminos".  Of course I'm playing on untimed mode.  You can (at least in untimed) repeat boards until you succeed.  There are 200 boards.  Right now I'm stuck on level 140.  It's a challenge board that you only get 20 moves to clear.  I looked at the game forum and quite a few people have trouble with this one.  You can skip challenges but if yiou do you get an additional level at the end, won't get the trophy for completing all the challenges and might not be able to finish building.  There is a female voice that I KNOW I've heard in at least one other game but I'm not sure what game it was.

I finally got level 140 cleared!  I'd gotten it down to 1 tile several times.  One time I thought I'd made it but the last tile was a double tile.  You get powerups that just appear on the boards as a result, I think, of combinations.  When you use them in the X # of moves challenge boards they count as a move!

And of course there are people in the Game Forum whining that this is a Halloween game and shouldn't habve been released in May.  Well, okay, it has jack-o-lanterns BUT the whine about witches hats is incorrect -- the hats are like those the peasants would have worn in Medieval times.  And the whine about cauldrons doesn't make it either IMO.  That's what people used to cook with!  Besides, it says upfront that it's a magical game with wizards, etc.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I think some people just aren't happy unless they are complaining, so they look for stuff. Reminds me of someone in my life. *insert dramatic sigh*

I finished up Royal Trouble.  It was fun and different.  Now to pick something, I think I'm going to go with a newer game..  I think I may have to close my eyes and point the list is so long.  On the high side I counted up and if my memory is correct I bought 57 games so far this year and have finished 45.  Well not really the high side is it! Lol, it's not bringing the backlog down but adding to it!

I have finished The Chronicles of Emerland Solitaire. I loved the music in this one too (as the Orient  one). But I hated the Golem in the last level who threw fire stones at me...

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I've just posted a full review of  -  Grim Tales 6: The Vengeance CE  -  in my review thread, if anyone's interested.

I gave it a  -  I loved playing this game  -  rating.  I definitely recommend the SE as it's a really long game but only recommend the CE if you want the achievements and collectibles as well as the bonus chapter, as the bonus chapter alone isn't worth it, imho.

Now I'm off to the doc's to have a tick removed - stupid garden.    I don't want to do it myself.  I just hope he has time to do it!

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

lilyr...Congrats on getting past level 140.  I had to smile at your edited part.

tirama...Is Jessica late on listing the CE's for this week?  I hope we are finally getting Shadow Wolf Mysteries.  Where do you find Jessica's thread?

stusue...Good to have doctor take your tick out ever since I read that their bodies just break off and their heads are still inside one if not careful.
