Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Hi, waving back!
It's rainy today and nobody's here so I sneaked in a little computer time.  I finished Midnight Mysteries: Edgar Allan Poe.  I started it in June last year.  It just seems so old now.  It did have a story but the first part of it totally lost me and since I've been playing it for a year....  I'm just glad it's over and I'm going to delete it as soon as I'm done posting   That's two games finished and deleted in one day, even though I didn't enjoy them
What did they change about Midnight Castle?  I haven't played in forever, before the first update.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

In MC, there were several quests to get objects out of the Bow Figurine.  These were mammoth quests, requiring you to play 281 HO scenes and craft 21 objects.  To craft them required over 30,000 coins.  You could not do this quest in a day or two.

If you played day and night with no breaks, it would take 38 hours to finish one such quest (HO scenes take up to an hour to recharge) assuming that you started off with nothing needed in your inventory, you didn't win anything needed on the Fortune Wheel, your friends never gifted you any thing needed.

However, people who had already completed these quests were VERY generous and ran contests to give away expensively crafted objects which eliminated the need to play so many HO scenes.  The people who were complaining about this quest and saying they were quitting didn't even bother to enter.  I won an object which eliminated the entire quest because I was the only person who entered and the other two objects went unclaimed!

People just complained and complained, both in the forum and on Facebook, and people were leaving the game before they got anywhere near having to do theese quests thanks to the scaremongering.  So the quest was reduced to 6 HO scenes which could be completed in 2 hours max.

I was almost finished with one quest and probably had spent about 25,000 coins crafting things to use when the change was applied.  So now my one game has an inventory full of objects that aren't needed, but sell for about 20% of what I spent crafting them.  It will take me 25 hours of playing time to get that cash back.

I doubt the developers will ever add any complex quests to the game in the future.  People may say they want more difficult puzzles and tasks, but the MC experience has shown that most people want something that doesn't take much time and effort before the game hands out an "Attaboy!  Way to go!" pat on the back.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I've just posted a full review of Forgotten Books: The Enchanted Crown CE in my review thread.  I won't post my recommendation or rating here as I know a few others got the CE as well this week in the sale and I don't want to spoil anything for them.

I'd recommend that anyone who has the CE doesn't look at my review before playing it.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I have finished The Great Gatsby: Secret Treasure. I liked it very much! The graphics, VOs, music and sound effects were very good (I like to hear the footsteps and outside noices ). The HOS were quite difficult.
There was no jump map but active spots were shown. It was loong.

I have dexed Nancy Drew: Tomb of the Lost Queen. I bought it because of the Egyptian theme ( I have a thing for that ), but I´m usually not good at ND games, I have played a few, with walkthrough of course  Well, well lesson learned,perhaps...

I keep an eye on the GOG insomnia sale but only picked up Goodbye Deponia. I have the first played halfway and hoping for the second too...

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Anki, it's my pleasure!

Hey, did you know that our GameHouse monthly GCCs can also be used for PEs????  I only worked that out this week and so spent most of Thursday going through all their PEs to see if they had any I didn't already have that I liked to get with my April GCC.  I finally got Zuma Revenge PE.  So that means that every coupon from GameHouse - monthly GCCs, PCCs or CS coupon codes - ALL work for both SEs and PEs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  You sure can't beat that!

I played Nancy Drew: Tomb of the Lost Queen last year and didn't like it much at all.  I finished it all but when I got to the end I thought: That's it?  That's all there is?  It's finished?  I was surprised at how short it was and how relatively easy it was.  I also don't much like Nancy Drew games and suck at them big time (although some of the newer ones are different and I've bought them after liking the demo - but I always play with a walkthrough, of course ) but I played it in a group play.

I've also been keeping an eye on the GOG Insomnia sale but they haven't had any that I want that I don't already have.    Oh, I just snuck a look and it's fnished!  It must have finished when I was having a yummy lunch at my local Chinese restaurant.  Oh well, I got some great games last time at great prices!

Stuesue, many thanks for the info about the GCC:S  I didn´t even think about trying!
I got Evy  - Magic Spheres with my April coupon because the ones I wanted were PE:S.
I´m thinking of using the May one right now

Well, obviously I hadn't thought of it until this week, either!    My problem is that there aren't any PEs I want.  Most of their PEs I already have from BFG - either CE or SE - and any that I have as an SE I'll just play the CE at GameHouse.  However, GH has the PE of Lost Souls - Enchanted Paintings so I imagine they'll be getting the PE of Lost Souls - Timeless Fables as well, so all I have to do is wait and I can get the PE with one of my coupons - it doesn' t matter which one!    Or just play it with my FunPass and use my coupons for games that I want to keep, like M3s or TMs, which are the ones I'm more likely to play again.

I got Evy - Magic Spheres as soon as it was released and I actually played it straight through, which says a lot about a bubble shooter game!  It's my fav bubble shooter game ever as it doesn't take speed but rather strategy to play.  You can take as long as you like to make a move.
