Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

meg -- It's down to hours now! (ok more than 24 but still....)

I'll have to try the Fog and the Dwarf game.

The scavenger hunt was probably my very favorite episode of TBBT.  I enjoyed the university stuff too.  As for TV shows being cancelled ... a few of my favorites were.

Wonderful ideas for vokunteering!

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I've just posted a demo review of  Royal Detective: Queen of Shadows CE.  An excerpt follows.  Should you wish to read the full review it can be found in my demo review thread.

Statistics on BFG game page as of 14 May 2014:

    *    37 reviews – average 3.6 stars
    *    12 gave 5 stars
    *    64% recommended the game – 21/33
    *    Fun Factor – 3
    *    Visual/Sound Quality – 4
    *    Level of Challenge – 3½
    *    Storyline – 3½

My Recommendation:    SE with reservation

I wasn’t excited at all as I played the demo.  I was just going through the motions.  I love morphing objects and I liked the magic items you use, like the knife and glove, but I’m not sure they’ll be enough for me to get the game, either SE or CE.  I’ll demo the SE when it’s released and see how I feel about the game then as I may have been having an off day when I demoed the CE.  However, the Detective Mode interests me and I’ll try that when I demo the SE and see if that makes the game a bit more interesting and challenging.

I recommend the SE for anyone who likes the demo.

I definitely do not recommend the CE as both the game and bonus are very short, according to reviewers who’ve finished the game.  Also, all the HOSs in the demo were list junkpile with only minimal interaction, and the one puzzle was super simple.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Meg, I wonder if you're sleeping now or are too excited!    I wonder if James is sleeping en route.  He must be somewhere over the Pacific right now.  I'm so excited for you both!    But I feel sad for his family.    I hope everything goes smoothly from now on and just as you wish.

As for you not being around for a bit, well, I think we'll all understand.  But hopefully you'll find the time to drop on in from time to time and let us know how things are going.

And I think it's great that James plays games as well, as you won't have to give up playing the games you love to be with the man you love.  You get to combine the two!

Good luck!

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Ah, that is disappointing to hear about Royal Detective: Queen of Shadows.  The first Royal Detective: Lord of Statues was so much fun.

I finished Dark Parables: Red Riding Hood Sisters.  I really enjoyed it and Wow! was it a gorgeous game.  Puzzles weren't difficult, but I did get stuck a few times in the middle wondering where to go next.    Next game up is Dark Parables: Briar Rose.

I am tempted with the half off ERS sale.  I would like to get the Forgotten Books one.    I'm going off to check reviews to see  if the CE is worth it.

Snap Sun, that is exactly what I was thinking about the ERS sale.

After Fear (I started Act 2 last night, it's quite a long game)  I'm going to play the new Dark Parables Jack and the Sky King.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Everyone must be busy today.  I finished off the main game of True Fear Forsaken Souls, really a freaky little game.  I thought it was very good, and I look forward to the Fall and part deux.  The bonus section seems to be about a different story, but I could be wrong.

I did go ahead and get Forgotten Books CE in the ERS sale.  It seems like one I'll enjoy.  I have all the rest ecept for House of Usher and I plan on getting that in a SE just with a coupon.

Happy gaming all.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I finished replaying Dark Parables: Curse of Briar Rose.  I bought and played this game 3 years ago, I think it was my 2nd game ever bought from a game site.  Campfire Legends: The Hookman was the first.  I remembered certain scenes, but not the gameplay.  It Was nice to revisit it again.  It seemed much tougher back then, now that I have more experience playing these type of games I was breezing right through it.  Was still fun though.

Oscar...I also bought Forgotten Books: Enchanted Crown in the ERS sale.  I played as far as the cobwebs and  knew I would like it.  Loved the white rabbit.   Regarding True Fear: Forsaken Souls  beside being a really good game, I think the timing was right for bringing in something like this to counter balance all the abundance of cute games we have been getting lately.

Next up I have a date with a Frog Prince in the next Dark Parables game.

OMG!n I've actually played a game that's being mentioned!   I played BRIAR ROSE  a while back.

I bought FORGOTTEN BOOKS: ENCHANTED CROWN in the sale too.  And the code worked yesterday!  I was going to get FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER but  most of what i read said the SE would suffice.  And I guess it'll be the SE of QUEEN OF SHADOWS too.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Hi, everybody.  I had the gum surgery yesterday and the pain meds are making me very drowsy.  All I've managed to lay are the free to plays.

I started Magic Heroes: Save Our Park and finished the first section before my dentist visit.  I can add to stusue's review that if you're playing timed and you don't finish before the timer runs out, you have to play the level again.  So far the timer is very generous and the only reason I ran out of time is because I was going for the 3 stars.

Yay!  Actually sometimes I feel like that too.  Once in a while I will play a game as soon as I get it.  Most times I like to sit on them, especially if they are in a series and play the series all at once.  I have all the Mystery Trackers and only just played the first one.  Same as Puppetshow, Grim Tales, Surface etc. etc.

Tirama...Gum surgery must have went smoothly.  Now it is just the healing part and I hope that goes as equally smooth.
