My problem with the number of errors allowed is pretty minimal.  Sometimes I haven't noticed that I made one and when I do I run my finger thru the puzzle to start over.  The games that you can have six errors sometime I have to run it threw an additional line! lol not a big deal.  I've actually never used a hint in these games but yup when it gets down to those ones where you have two boxes in say two lines and it could go either way it's a bummer when you think okay the pattern makes sense like this, beep no you're wrong no three stars.  And you know I can start over and make that same stupid error again! I always thought the hint would effect the stars so I've never used them.

I started Mysterium Lake Bliss this evening which isn't too bad.  I quite like the story and the graphics are nice.  Puzzles are on the easy side, but it is interesting enought that I will read everything.  The map is not that fabulous so you do end up wandering about a bit.

The hints don't affect the number of stars, so I use them rather than guess and maybe be wrong and have to do it over.

I like the music in this one (Riddles of The Mask).  Sounds like it belongs in an epic movie about the Napoleonic Wars.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Meg, your fiance will be there in 8 days!!!!!!!!!!!!  Yippee!  ** jumping up and down in excitement for you **

And I'm glad you resisted the sale yesterday, as did I!  Well, there were no CEs I wanted and I get SEs with PCCs, so it wasn't all that difficult - no willpower required at all.

However, how could I resist GameHouse's sale yesterday - 50% off 50% off 30% off retail?    And only 4 punches required to get a PCC that's good for CEs as well as SEs!!!!  Well, is it my fault their weekend sale codes work on Mondays as well?

I crumbled and got 12 - enough for 3 CE PCCs!  I got 11 SEs for $1.49 each and 1 CE for $2.44.  So, including the CE PCCs I got, I got 4 CEs and 11 SEs for $18.83!!!!!!!!  I know it's no excuse, but still, I just couldn't resist.    And they're all great games!  Some oldies, some brand new, some so new they're not even at BFG yet!

Now I just have to find the time to play them all ...

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I finished Dark Tales: The Fall of the House of Usher.  I bought the SE version and liked it well enough, it was a long game and I enjoyed playing it.  The puzzles were different and fun and the HO scenes were varied to keep them interesting.  The only place I felt let down is at the ending.  It was over in 5 seconds and wasn't very conclusive.  No doubt it finishes up in the bonus chapter.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

What a haul Stusue!  I held back and didn't buy anything although I was looking at Gamehouse as well and those prices were sorely tempting.

I imagine you are on tenterhooks waiting Meg.

Tirama - I like the music in that one as well, I tend to turn it off in the other ones.  And the music in Mysterium is really good so far as well.

Meg -- Yipee!! You've certainly waited long enough for him to get there!

Stusue -- WOW!!

I ran out of time so didn't get anything yesterday.  I don't have any PCCs expiring so didn't care.  Besides, it's not as if I don't have any games to play! (hoping this is the equivalent of the emoticon).

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Okay, who else is getting Witches Prank: Frog's Fortune in today's sale?  What a super cute game.  I'm still debating about the DD Island of Death: Demons and Despair.  Has anyone played it yet?  If so, how demon-y was it?

ETA...I see Gamehouse has Witches Prank: Frog's Fortune as a Premium Edition game and BF only has the SE.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Sunshine, I'm over halfway through playing the CE of Witch's Prank: Frog's Fortune, and I stand by my initial demo review.  There are a couple of really great puzzles but other than that, it's just way too easy.  I'm sure most people will love it but it's not really for me (I much prefer really dark - story and graphics - involved stories).  But those 2 puzzles that I've just done and loved and that take a bit of thought have upped my opinion slightly.  The quality is very high and I do love the graphics and music.  I also like the story but the gameplay is also really easy.  However, halfway through it does get a bit more difficult and you have to think about where to go and what to do, which you don't have to do at all in the beginning.

It's not really a HOPA, though.  I've only come across 2 FRAGs - and I'm about 2/3 of the way through - and they were so easy a blind person could have found the few pieces.  Things are in 2 pieces and once you've finished one you can put it back where it goes in the scene.  There are also very few puzzles - I remember maybe 5 or 6 - and they're also mostly very easy, although fun.  The last 2 I've just done, though, I loved.  So it's mainly just inventory puzzles.  There are no collectibles but you do have to often find x number of things to use - at the moment I'm in the middle of finding 4 of something, 6 of something, and 7 or something.

Without having checked back with BFG's version, I think the only difference - which is often the case when BFG has the SE and GameHouse has the CE - is that the PE has a bonus chapter and all the usual extras like wallpapers, screensavers.  I'm not sure if the SE has all those.  But I know that the SE has the achievements and you're able to make your frog princes perform for you once you've collected all 6 cards for each one.  Oh, and the PE has a SG but you wouldn't need it as the Hint button is more than enough and the black bar tips tell you more than you need too know, even in the hardest of 3 modes.

I've got Island of Death: Demons and Despair and I thought I'd played it and liked it but I haven't crossed it off my list, so I can't be sure.  I obviously liked it enough to get it, though.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I stopped playing a great M3, The Legend of Egypt - Jewel of the Gods, to play Witch's Prank: Frog's Fortune CE.  It's challenging and I wouldn't recommend it for beginners.  But I love it so much I bought it today using my 25% discount coupon with the 50% sitewide discount, so got it for just over $2 and a punch.

The boards are really big on the screen but there aren't many tiles at all, as the tiles are all really big and very brightly coloured!    There are also holes everywhere in the boards and lots of things like locked tiles (with key tiles), sand tiles that have to be cleared several times, etc.  It's challenging because there are so few matches as there's very little room to move and make matches.  It's definitely not a game to just while away some time whilst watching TV or something.  There are also 2 different types of powerups.

I love my Egyptian village (the graphics are great - HD and really clear and colourful, with my little villagers walking around in the sun - with shadows!) and it's now so prosperous that my poor have sugar, just like the rich!    It's also loooooooooooooooong.

The only problem is that several of the buildings that you need to update (you update each building twice) are hidden at the bottom of the screen behind the scrolls that show the buildings you can currently buy and I didn't realise that until just before I stopped to play Witch's Pranks, and I really needed the extra powerups that building gave me.    No wonder I didn't get as many red technology crystals as I needed to build everything.     You don't collect building materials, like bricks, but rather architectural, technological and wisdom crystals to build.  As you get to bigger buildings you also start needing to have used certain powerups x number of times in order to build them.  I don't think I'm ever going to get to build a pyramid.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

stusue...Thanks for the info about Witches Prank.  Could you please tell us how many frogs/princes you help in the PE version?  This game looks so cute and funny that I don't mind if it is easy.  Sometimes brain gets fried and need a lighthearted game.

Island of Despair looks like something I would like.  I will go check reviews to see how demon-y it is.
