Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Oops, silly me realised I'd gotten 2 games mixed up in my demo review of Tales From The Dragon Mountain 2: The Lair so I've just updated my demo review.  I changed Dreamscapes to Black Rainbow twice in the body of the review and this is what I added at the bottom:

ETA:  I got Dreamscapes mixed up with Black Rainbow, which has the exact same gameplay, exact same diary, exact same Combiner.  I started playing Black Rainbow straight after Dreamscapes last week and it wasn't until I continued it last night that I realised I'd gotten them confused.  And I love Black Rainbow!!!!  I didn't want to stop playing last night but had to eventually go to bed.    Black Rainbow isn't yet available at BFG but I'm sure it will be soon as they have other Cateia games, like this one, which GameHouse got a month prior to BFG.

Sorry about the confusion.    But Black Rainbow is a game I can definitely recommend, just like Tales From The Dragon Mountain 2: The Lair, as they've both got exactly the same gameplay and setup and are both adventure games with brilliant HD graphics and are both by Cateia Games.    I love them both!

Well, back to Black Rainbow now!    Full review later.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Make sure you download Awakening Kingdoms today only to get a 60% off coupon (including CEs) the week of 5 May.

Mine's downloading as I type.

I have no intention of playing it but I have every intention of using the 60% off coupon to get a CE.    The coupon I got the last time they did this is still sitting in my coupons folder, waiting for a good game as it doesn't expire until 31 December.

Don't forget - the offer ends at midnight tonight!

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I played today's soft release - Next Stop - weeks ago with my FunPass.  I'll post a full review later (well, it won't be terribly long as I played it a while ago) but suffice to say, I recommend it for anyone who wants a super easy, addictive TM that's a bit different.  It would definitely be a good beginner's game but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who's used to any sort of challenge in their TM games.  I played it using my FunPass and had heaps of fun but I wouldn't buy it as it was just too easy, simplistic and repetitive.

Why it's so unique is that, instead of fixing roads so that you can continue on to the next level, or building buildings for food, or mining, or extra workers, in this game you're fixing a railway line ... hence Next Stop.  The trains keep coming and they go very slowly along the bits of the track that need repairing and go faster along those bits that you've repaired.  You earn money by the things you build/repair along the train's route - a station, water tower, etc.  And you want to fix the track as soon as possible so that the trains move faster so that more trains come along so that you get more money so that you can repair more of the buildings so that you get more money so that you can fix the track.  You get the idea.  I can't remember what the goals were in each level but I think they were different in different levels.  I think you may have had to chop down some trees.  Oh, you also fix the PO so that the train takes mail, bringing in more cash.

The graphics are fine but really basic and there are only a few buildings to be repaired and each level has one or more of them in it.  The gameplay doesn't change much at all from the first level to the last.

It's a game I'd have no problem playing again whenever I wanted something really simple but fun, but I'd only buy it if I had an expiring PCC and no other games I wanted to get.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I've just posted my demo review of today's TGT, Deponia: The Puzzle.  You'll find the full demo review in my demo review thread.

My recommendation:  You couldn't pay me enough to undergo any further torture than the 6 puzzles I endured of the demo.

But try it for yourself as maybe someone else will find it fun rather than the stressful, nerve-wracking, torturous experience I found it to be.     I'd love to know if anyone actually likes it!

It was initially released in March for iOS/Android touchscreens and I imagine it would be much better suited for those.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Tirama, there's a huge banner right across the screen directly above today's TGT.  It also comes up when you open the Game Manager.

I checked out the details and, unlike last time when it said that people who already had the game could reinstall it, this time it doesn't mention anything about that at all, just how to do it, when, and what you get if you do.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Well I just got the Awakenings update downloaded last night, it took me several days, so no way am I deleting and redownloading    I really love the games that are set up like Dreamscapes, where they're in sections, maybe a half dozen scenes in one part, then that part is done, you move on and don't come back.  Keeps the wandering around reasonable and I don't need a map cause I can remember where stuff is.  I accidentally forgot to cancel my membership earlier this month so I'm still a member until mid May.  Maybe a nice BOGO will come around before then, even though I can't really download until late June.  I'm running low on credits, though, so I should really just wait until fall, I have plenty to play over the summer.  I sure hope they have another % off GCC sale when I have some money again.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.
