Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Here is an excerpt from a review of Emberwing

Because of the SG and lack of real help in the jump map, I found myself getting more and more frustrated and bored with the game. This could have been a very nice game and it may pick up as it progresses, but I was very disappointed and could not get into it. I did not find this game a challenge at all, but it would be a good one for a beginner.

So it wasn't a challenge at all, but you were frustrated because you didn't get enough help
I haven't played the demo but BZ is usually pretty easy; I like them because of lack of HOs and how pretty and magical they are.  They usually keep the storyline going the whole game, too.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Wendy, some people really do write the oddest things.

I've played half the demo and it really is a gorgeous looking game but I don't know about the CE.  Last I looked, no one who had finished the entire game including the bonus chapter had made any sort of reference to the bonus chapter in their review, which I find really weird.  It's like now it's taboo to make any sort of comment about the bonus game and whether you think the CE was worth it or not once you've finished.  I don't understand.    Everyone seems to race to add their rating after just playing the demo and rarely does anyone make any comment once they've finished.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I'm still plugging away at Hello Venice 2.  I think I've finished 67 of the 80 levels.  I'm going to try and drag myself away from the free to play games and try to finish today.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Hello everyone!  I certainly had lots of reading to catch up on. Had great weather on our trip, lots of sun, too windy and chilly water for the beach but it was 25-28C each day.  Nice and relaxing.

I for one have been waiting for Emberwing since I beta'd it.  The story seemed very different and it is gorgeous.  I thought it had loads of potential.  I can't wait to tuck in to it. But I will wait. I did start Reveries Sisterly Love last night.  I missed my games!

Stusue it looks like you finished loads in the last little while.

Congrats Meg that things are looking good in your life.  Like Stusue I don't fit into any of those categories you mentioned.  40s and unfortunately not retired!  (depressed)

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Meg...You're the same age as my younger sister.  I was a teenager when she was born.

stusue... Regarding Grimville.  I must have made some bad choices throughout the game because I definetely didn't like my ending.  I don't quite remember what it was, but at the time I was thinking that I got the worst ending that they had.

oscar...At least the sun was shining for your vacation.  That's a big plus.  Glad you were able to relax.  That the best thing about taking a vacation.  Just to get away and  kick back and decide how you want to spend your day.

I finished Death at Cape Porto: A Dana Knightstone Novel.  I played the SE and it took me 5 1/2 hours in hardest mode.  I took the advice of Tirama and/or Oscar that they were disappointed with the CE due to it being easy & short.  With achievements like completing 1 chaper in a 1/2 hour I got the SE and I was pretty satisfied with that.

Right now I started Royal Detective: The Lord of Statues.  I have helpers in this game a rooster and a miner.  I just love the little mechanical rooster.  Want one of my own.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

In case anyone was thinking of getting any CEs, the weekend code COLLECT is still working today, so you can still get them for $8.99.

Does anyone think any of the following are CE worthy?

Riddles of Fate: Into Oblivion  (read that bonus only ~ 30 mins)
Mystery of Unicorn Castle: The Beastmaster  (read also that bonus is short)
Dark Dimensions: Somber Song  (pumpkins as collectibles )
Emberwing: Lost Legacy  (read that bonus 2 hours but easy-to-spot collectibles)

Oscar, I can't believe you're back already!    It seems like you only just got there!    I'm glad you had some great weather and managed to relax.

And yes, I've managed to finish loads of games these past 2 weeks since my sister left.  I'm trying to make up for the 9 weeks when I had non-stop visitors and could only manage the odd few mins of gaming here and there, mainly demos.

I'm thinking of getting the CE of Emberwing but I'm not sure if it's CE worthy.    I so wish reviewers would review once they'd finished the game and let us know about the bonus chapter.
