Thanks Tirama. I was hoping that was the way it worked but I was afraid to click on it. You must all think I've got an IQ of about 3 by some of the dumb posts I make! Well, strapped for cash is relative. I have 127,000 coins but, after buying the bundle, my gold is somewhere around 130. I'm pretty close to getting a reward of gold bars though. I thought the surprise at the end of the week was just going to be a gift. But I'm probably wrong.
I think Wendy said she had a number of Beaded dolls of Marriage. Could someone tell me where they are, please? I've never even seen one. Of course the minis in the site between the Mine and the Junkyard are still locked for me so it could be anywhere.

The Beaded Doll of Marriage is in butterfly sanctuary, 16 nets. I haven't unlocked it yet. You need Master rank in Pensacola to open it for free.
Have you completed your 100 bronze, silver, and gold sets? If not, work on them to earn achievements. I think they pay out in food.
And if we get another special event quest, don't accept the reward and close out the quest until you check here or the BF forum to see if it's safe to do so. Collecting multiple sets of the special collections is the key to getting a lot of gold, but be prepared to play the same HO scens over and over and over. Checking the BF forum will let you know how many quests there are for the day so you can budget your time accordingly. The European fishies are very good about giving the heads up.
I used a LOT of food doing the valentine quests, but I completed 60+ of each set. If you're going to go for multiple sets, I'd let Mr Fireman wait for his streets and save the money for food. I'd spend the time playing minigames and visiting cities that had collectibles I needed to complete sets or to sell at auction.

Thanks Tirama. I haven't unlocked that mini either.
I'm 28/50 on gold sets and 59/100 on silver sets. Bronze is checked off so i must have gotten to 100.
Even when I tried NOT to cash in a Valentine's set I never got any more of the items I needed for multiple sets.
I need to build my energy tank. It's around 800 but bigger is better! And if i can scrape the cash together I should probably upgrade my vehicle. I DO have a few things that should bring a good price at auction.

Lily, you can cash in your sets. What you don't want to do is accept the reward for the quest. Once you accept the reward, the special objects disappear. You just keep playing the HO over and over again until you have "enough", and only then do you go back to the quest and click on it.
Work on those silver and gold sets and forget about the platinum. You can get them the next time. With everybody fixating on the platinum and rare collectibles, you may be able to pick stuff up cheaply.
Unless they've made a change, you need gold bars to upgrade vehicle, not coins.

There are some whacky prices on the auction. 125,000 for a brass cog? Newsflash. Anybody with 18 hammers can get one while the collectibles are dropping on first click.

I did the first vehicle upgrade but then I decided it wasn't worth it. I don't depend on time to regenerate my energy, I depend on pizza
I am getting a little tired of the FTPs. You're really just going around in a big circle. Play a hammer game to fill a collection that gives you nets, use them to play a mini that gives you glue, use that to fill one that gives you paint, and use that to fill one that gives you hammers It's ;only fun while you have quests, once you run out of them it's just kinda stupid. I don't know why they didn't program oodles more quests. They should have had a quest for every rank in every city and maybe even every rank in every minigame. And a quest to fill each and every collection. But I do like the FTPs for the first part of the game, when you've got tons of stuff to do. I haven't even been interested in my regular games.

Wendy - check out the BF Midnight Castle forum. People complain if the quests take too long. I'm surprised there isn't an achievement to fill all collections, however, BoomZap probably plans on introducing some new collections. I wish they would add more achievements, or add another level to the achievements they have, though that could prove difficult, and a lot of people probably would automatically go to achievement completed.
I depend on pizza and mac and cheese for energy when I'm playing non-stop to complete collections giving gold, but between special events, I prefer to use food sparingly, and the quicker refill helps.
And what else am I going to spend all my gold on? I won't use it to open mini-games. I'm content to wait for things to open for free. Waiting for BOGO's has taught me how to wait. LOL
I use the time between updates to get ready for the next special event, making sure I have enough resources, food, and money.

I use gold to open a mini or city if I know it has something in it that will make me lots of money at auction. I might have done that with the Beaded Doll. I know I've made more than a million dollars with her cause I've sold at least 20 at $40-50,000. The Verdant Locket and Lady Edelweiss, too.
Does the new update give out prizes everytime from the expensive mini-games? That and the abundant resources are the only reason I'm still playing my un-updated game. I'm really tired of looking at the snow. My updated game on the laptop looks so pretty and my animal themed buildings look much better without the snow, but it makes the laptop overheat like crazy. If I do good this summer I would like to buy a better lappie but then I would have the problem of trying to get stuff downloaded on a limited plan. Are you loving your new laptop, Tirama? It sounds awesome. I would like one with a bigger screen, I have a 15 inch and it really seems small compared to the desktop, and it's only 19".

I LOVE the Tailor shop! With a special item I can get 6,000 coins approx every minute! So now I'm over 200k. I bought another food bundle for 70 some gold but if I play my 4 picky shopper scenes I'll get 50 bars back. And I'm very close to getting more gold bundles. In AK I have oodles of needle & thread. They look the same as these. Too bad we can't transfer them!
Wendy -- I think I've played an expensuve mini or two since the update. I haven't gotten items to drop though.

The new update is giving collectibles on teh first click in all mini-games, which is why I'm concentrating on making platinum sets. Of course, I'm going through resources like crazy, so I have to complete other sets to get more hammers, stamps, etc. When BoomZap turns off the gravy train, I'll find something else to work on.
I love my new laptop. I loved the one that had the hard drive crash. They both have basically the same specs and features that mattered to me. This new one is slightly better because it has the place you plug things into on the right side and the dvd on the ledt, which works out better for me. The other computer was reversed. DH is getting a new (better) hard drive installed and he will keep that laptop. So that means we both have good laptops, and backup laptops, and 1 think we're down to one "good" (but old) desktop and one "antique" if all else fails desktop. And 2 tablets.
