Re: Midnight Castle by Elephant Games

I just downloaded the game to get the free game coupon.  I did play a couple of HOs but I'm really not that interested.  Of course I'm only level 7 so that might have something to do with it.  I'll uninstall as soon as I get my coupon.

Re: Midnight Castle by Elephant Games

I'm liking it better this time around.  I like the changes they made to the game, especially the new objects that are only used to load the airship.  I think I've filled 10 airships already.  At first, I played a lot because the HO scenes regenerate quickly, but now I just show up and play when an airship is due to arrive.  I load the ship, play all the HO scenes, and quit until it's time to do it all over again.

Are some of you able to play the update?  I'm still getting the error message.

I'm playing, but I have a new computer, so for me it was a fresh download.

Tirama,  Is it working OK for you?  I see complaints in the forum--yet when are there not?  Congrats on your new computer.  Did you have Windows 8  before?  It takes some getting used to.

It's working fine for me.  I haven't paid that much attention to the forum, other than to get myself some friends and thank people for their gifts.  I'm guessing that the complainers are people who have been playing teh game since day 1, and wanted the update to contain something different.  It's the same in all the free to play game forums, I think.  The old timers resent any changes that make it easier for new people.  If the dev adds new content, they say the dev should have spent the time fixing x, y and z.  If the update is merely fixes, they complain that the fixes are merely cosmetic, and the dev should have spent the time adding new content.

My "old" computer wasn't that old.  The hard drive crashed.  It had Win8.  I used my DH's computer (Win8.1) while he got my older computer (Win7) out of mothballs.  It felt so wierd using Win7.

Here's what I posted on Feb 16:

My hard drive had a major meltdown Friday morning and I was waiting for Samsung to send me a recovery disk and then to see if that solved the problem or if I needed to replace the hard drive.  DH wanted a new laptop for Christmas, but couldn't make up his mind which one or whether he should get a tablet, so we didn't get anything.  His father got him an android tablet for his birthday (2 days before Christmas) so he was happy.

Anyway, he told me to get a new laptop and he would fix the other one and I could choose which one was mine and he would take the other one.  So I got an ASUS with an i7 processor, 1TB hard drive, dedicated graphics card with 8 GB memory, backlit keyboard, full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, and a matt screen.

Tirama,  thanks for updating me.   I was a little behind,  and missed some of your posts.
Barre,  Imagine my excitement when I made my usual perfunctory  attempt to access the game to be met with an unexpected success!  It seems to be working fine.  I was greeted with a whole slew of gifts,  many of them from you,  dear one--thank you!

Hi sandhan, you are so welcome to the gifts.  I'm glad you were finally able to get into the game.  I opened up new places like the witch's den and beyond that is the Pirate's ship.  Enjoy playing.

Re: Midnight Castle by Elephant Games

A couple of questions:  does anyone else think the Pets are a rip-off?  It takes forever to collect food.  And these new ones--they don't say how much food you need.  I was shocked to find the stupid owl needs 12 feedings!  And how do you save enough money to buy one?  Also,  I find the danged repetition unutterably boring.  It's fun doing the quests,  but repeating those hos over & over to get money just to open a new area is getting really old.  I'm tempted to trash the whole thing,  but the story keeps me going.  And oh yes--is there a secret to winning at the stupid craps game?  I never win more than 1 out of 3.  Just one more--I'm sure you're bored with my ranting--what is the point to the airship?  You give away all your hard-earned stuff,  for it seems like very little return.  If you have a lot of surplus,  wouldn't it be more cost-effective to just sell it?  Okay,  I'm done for now.
