Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

The two games have similar game mechanics, but the strategy needed is so different. But that's okay.  I don't want them to be clones of each other and only different in their graphics.

I don't bother with the auctions on AK.   I'm not going to sell anything because you never know when somebody is going to come along and ask for that very item in a quest.  I don't bother buying because all the buyout prices I've seen are outrageous, and I wouldn't want to hurt the tender feelings of those people who can't handle somebody outbidding them.  There's no achievements for doing the auctionin AK, so it's just not worth it to me.  What's valuable and what's not depends on where you are in the game.

I love the auctions in ART.  And I love how the prices fluctuate because BoomZap has removed some onjects from play, and during the special event quests we're all playing the same HO's so we've all got the same excess stuff.  DO we sell cheap, or do we wait and see if prices go up as teh items become less common as time passes?

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

Rats!  I put a lot of stuff up for auction in ART yesterday and nothing has sold.  I checked and NONE of my items have the "Bid" button or the "Buyout" button!  The clock is counting down so I guess everything will be returned to me at the end of the 24 hours.  I wonder if there's a fee for listing at auction (ther4e is that extra button).  I spent quite a bit of time listing all that stuff too. < heavy sigh>

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

Your items won't display the bid or buyout buttom to YOU, because you can't buy your own stuff.  I imagine the button for charging a fee was put there (and maybe used) when teh game was first released, but people complained and BoomZap made the auction free to list. items

I had problems with the game this morning.  The scroll bar was working backward.  I think it's related to the clock change.  Rebooting your computer should solve the problem.

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

I just bought 4 things from you, lilyr.  You won't get rich from my purchases, though.

Thanks for telling me you WERE able to buy things Tirama.  Usually whatever I post is snapped up.

Due to Daylight Saving Time starting in the United States, you may be 1 hour out of synch with your usual buyers.  Nobody showed up to buy my junk at the usual time, so I tried 1 hour later and there was the usual feeding frenzy.

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

At the end about 1/2 of the stuff I listed sold.  A couple of the higher priced items (that weren't all that high) and about 1/2 of the junk.  I guess people are past the "earn X # from Auction buyout" Achievement.

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

I'm amazed that any of the junk sells.  Most people who do the auctions have all their auction achievements.  Most of the people buying from me I've seen since I started playing the game, so they should have completed their 100 Bronze and 100 Silver sets achievements.

So what are they planning to do with this stuff?  There's tons of it out there, so there's no real profit to be made reselling this stuff.  I could have bought plenty of junk for a coin each, but what's the point?  To make a profit of 4-9 coins?

I did manage to find a few items to resell, but most of what I bought was for me.  This is the 6th day I've been selling the same junk.  Considering I do two sessions, one in the early afternoon and one in the evening, I've probably sold 1,000 pieces of junk and that's a low estimate.  And I still have more than 100 of some items.

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

I just checked in on my new construction.  Paw Paw and the main place are done, Dinhammer is still under construction.  The animal theme looks pretty stupid.  A couple are okay but the rest ...  Save your money.  I might go with the pirate theme next, this is buccaneer territory, after all.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

I'm still waiting to customize. If I spend my money, there's sure to be a sale on food or keepsakes or something.

Not doing a junk sale today.  It looks like people have finally realized that they can't resell the stuff and make enough of a profit to make it worthwhile.  Selling some good stuff.  It's finally worth the effort to sell Mary Janes, and all those bargain Pashminas have finally disappeared, allowing me to charge 5,000 coins and get it.  I'll need to play mini games later and replenish my stock.  Still collecting Cameos, but getting pretty tired of Capt Matthew's yacht.
