tee - everything worked fine with Captain Matthew for me. The red car is the standard issue vehicle. It's what we've been driving all along. The first upgrade is a blue panel truck.

I DL'd the update to DirectX9 (I had 11) and the game worked. I'm beginning to think Aunt Margaret might be more annoying than Philip! I did one upgrade to the car -- still not sure what that's all about. Apparently the Red Mine was fixed with this update. Bomzap had said that the update would give us less expensive HOs. Is upgrading the vehicle (and boy does it get expensive!) the way it will do that? I clicked on my wharf and I upgraded that too. A couple of the minigames wanted huge amounts of resources (18 in the first spot). I'll see what happens today. Now I'm wishing I'd bought more food during the sale.
Forgot to say that I got my 40 gold for the Christmas quests.

Each time you upgrade the vehicle, 30 seconds is removed from the amount of time it takes to earn 1 unit of energy. So if you do all 4 upgrades, instead of taking 5 minutes to get 1 unit of energy, it will only take 3 minutes.

Thanks, went and it worked for me too except took forever to find the spot to cut the chains on the mine car. Never paid that much attention to the vehicle and just thought the red car looked newer for some reason.
Another question, I'm so far behind and have been trying to read everything and I haven't seen anything about how long it takes to update Phillip's place to Lv. 4. I have the quest for the shot glasses and when I go there, it has a chain and says to upgrade to Lv. 4. I think I have done it at least 3 times and the chains are still there. This game is a little confusing to me. If anybody knows the answer, sure would appreciate a little clarification. Thanks.

What quest did you all have at the Captains? Today I can't do the daily quest, it's too far out of reach. I had 2 Valentine quests, one in a HO and the other in a mini game. I have 2 normal quests and I can't do either one of them for quite awhile. One is the 14 magnifying glass in the library, you have to have master rank in the Chicago Bar, I'm 5 out of 15 so I need to play it 10 more times The other quest is
18 magnifiers in the Library which needs Hidden Foliage in Botanical (18 gloves) which requires John Pershing(18 film) in Bennett Photography which requires 18 glue game in Porcelain which requires 14 Bird game which requires Level 37 I'm just about to go to Level 23. I might have to spend the gold to unlock the Bird game so I can get started on that chain of events. It takes 20 gold to unlock but otherwise I'm stuck for 14 more levels. And/or until I play the bar 10 more times.

Well, it's official, I'm an idiot. Not totally my fault, it was very confusing. I just used 20 gold to unlock the Who's watching you too mini-game, then went to the Porcelain shop to do that one and it was still locked. When back to birds, back to porcelain, turns out there is a Who's Watching You and a Who's Watching You, Too and I paid 20 gold to unlock the wrong one Wonder if I can system restore? The correct mini needs a 16 hr. build to Level 5, I can handle that.

Thanks Tirama. I'm upgrading the wharf to level 4 now. So far I've gotten a sweet, a bouquet and 2 cards for the Valentine's special collections. The minis we're being sent to sure require a LOT of resources!

Wendy - you're making my head spin. I was stuck at Capt Matthew's before the update trying to use the key to open his shack. Update fixed that.
Did you have to pay to unlock mini game for Valentine quest?

I'm thinking I'm even more of an idiot, Tirama, I think it was the daily quest
I think now I have to Master the Chicago Bar for one quest and get to Level 25 for the other. I'll be working on those two all week. I upgraded the vehicle one time, seems too expensive to do it again.

I've got one box of chocolates, all the red/pink flowers but not the two other colored ones, all but one card, and two or three of the letters. Is that what everyone else has? I've used all my energy, should I cash in more and keep doing the HOs to get more of the special items? Has anyone found them in mini-games? I've only done my quest minis today.
