Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

The clam chowder story was funny!

I finally opened a new area -- Margaret's Home .  Of course by the time I open something everyone else has been there so my "new" objects aren't woth auctioning.

I'm passing on the Keepsake sake too.

I used diamonds to skip finding the person in the mine.

I'm hording my gold bars I'm also hording my diamonds in AW ).

If I use them now, after waiting so long, the update will be out the next day.  Just like I finally bought the eggplant and within a day or 2 we had a food sale.

I'm concentrating on achievements - buying and selling at auction to complete collections, and sending those e-mails.  Closing in on 100 friends.  Doesn't Travoltas want to send us requests to be friends?

Another undoable Daily Quest.

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

906 3249 is my Travoltas shop.  I'm only friends with myself right now, didn't mean to be rude.  I haven't looked at the achievements much.
I just bought that blue teapot by mistake.  I thought it said 500 and it said 5000  And there were several more in a clump on the page there with the same approximate price.  After I stewed on it a few minutes I put it up for auction at 5999/6999 and I sold it within 15 minutes
I think the auction is as fun as the game.  Sometimes a whole bunch of the same thing comes up one after the other for 2 and I snap them all up.  You just have to resell one of them for 100 and you're in the money.
When I auction I almost never put 2 of the same thing up.  An item doesn't look special when there's 10 of them in a row.  I try to wait until everybody puts up outrageous prices, then mine look quite reasonable in comparison.  I also end my prices with 9s, 199, 299, etc.

You've gotta have friends.

Travoltas wa my 99th friend.  Another one soon arrived and now I'm done with the friends achievement.  2 more pizzas to add to the pantry.  My keepsake cabinet runneth over from getting those achievements.

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

I reall should spend some more time in the Auctions selling stuff.  I just got 2 of those Sakura teapots.  I had to buy them before. (got them in a minigame).

Speaking of gold bars -- I just got a quest to upgrade my lectern to platinum -- for 400 gold bars!  That one is going to hang around for a looooong time. Especially considering that I only have a bit over 200 now.

Hope it's okay to send you (Travoltas) a friend request.  I need a bunch more to get an achievement.

As you progress in the game, he prices of things for decorating the antique store (and other places) will change from gold bars to coins.  My game is showing the cost of the platinum lecturn as 40,000 coins.  (I haven't even received the quest for the gold lecturn - no surprise since I'm stuck at Red Mines).

If you get impatient and upgrade before the game asks you to, you could wind up paying more.  Also, if you hold back on doing some of the earlier quests for whatever reason, you run the risk of your quests becoing unbalanced and out of synch.

For example:

quest A trigger quest G which triggers quest M, etc
quest B triggers quest H which triggers quest N, etc
quest C triggers quest I which triggers quest O, etc

If you ignore quest B for too long and let the paths started by quest A and quest C get too far ahead,  it could have consequences down the road.  You may find mini games locked, even though you're receiving quests to play them.

It doesn't matter if you don't mind spending your gold to make progress and the devs probably hope that you will do that and buy some more gold.  But if you're intent on playing for free, you have to develope blinders and ignore the fact that other people are ahead of you and able to do and buy things you can't.

There's really no hury to catch up to the leaders, they've run out of game and are just spinning their wheels waiting for an update.

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

Barre, when I tried to accept your friend request it kept telling me error so I finally declined you to make it go away, sorry.  You can try again or give me your number and I'll try it.
That darn auction can keep you busy for hours, can't it?  I love selling those ladies shoes.  It's $500 for a collection and  isell them for $299 each, that's 1500 for the whole collection  And I sell a lot of things  from collections that I've never even seen a piece or two in there, so why bother holding onto them.

Well, the shoe collection is easy to put together.  I didn't start selling off shoes until I had my 100 collection achievement and my 100 bronze collections achievements.   Can't wait until I can do the same with my silver items, but it's tough putting together collections when you have no quests to work on.  Lookig on the bright side, I'll probably have bazillion coins when we get an update that hopefully fixes Red Mine.  Maybe for Valentine's Day?

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

Wendy, my number is 926501.  I saw all yr messages.  I think this game has a glitch in it because sometimes it goes all white on me, and I have to quickly get out of it..  When I go back in, it's fine again.  This happens on and off....don't know if it happens to anyone else?  I'm not going to start all over again from the beginning because I've come too far already.  When it starts going all weird on me, I just get out asap and try again later.

I think you and Tirama are auction champs!!!  I'm not doing as well as both of you but that's okay.
You two are great at math and figuring out how to make money.....I'm just playing around in the auction for the fun of it.  I prefer playing the HOS and the minigames.

I figure this game and AK is going to last us a very long time...I've seen some friends at level 70 and up ..wonder if I'll ever get tired of it though I'm enjoying it now.  Who knew that a Free to Play game could be so much fun and save me so much money by not buying as much games as before.  I'm just waiting for a BOGO sale before I start buying anything.  So far I've bought no new games in January.
