Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I rebought 8 games in English with the coupons BF gave me and used another one on Botanice Earthbound SE.   I still have 2 coupons they gave me for Witches Legacy and Zombie Solitaire that they said go ahead and use on other games. I got 3 PCCs from exchanging the games and I still have one from last month it looks like.  I also have 2 coupons for CEs that don't expire until end of the year.  All of a sudden I'm drowning in games.  It feels so good.  Some of them are from over the summer but they still feel shiny and new to me.  By the time a BOGO gets here I won't need anymore games. That's alright, GCCs don't expire, I need to save them for some really good games instead of using them on so-so games just because it's a BOGO.  The difference in feeling I have between playing Fate's Carnival, where I'm loving every minute, and playing Witches Legacy or Apothecarium where I was just going through the motions....
I'm happy I got the CE of Fate's Carnival.  The hint is super helpful, shows you a clear picture of where to go and asks if you want to go there, and the transporter map has indicators where you can do stuff, so you don't really need strategy guide, but it shows locations of morphing cards and bobbleheads, and where the money for the cat is.  It's all easy enough to find, but the CE also has a solitaire game, a secret room, and hard to win achievements.  There's also little puzzles in your diary to do.  This game is so well done that they've earned the extra CE money.  The wallpapers I didn't care for, theyre of the performers.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Has anybody looked at TGT?  Who Am I looks and sounds like City of Fools.  Perhaps our next group play?

Sorry, Tirama, but it seems that there's only another 20 mins to go after the end of the demo ... but someone took another 45 mins.  They're NOT impressed that they spent money on such a short game.  Appparently it says that there are 70 different sites but you only go to 10 houses.  It's also a HOG and not an adventure game like before.  I think a few said that your hand is also held throughout and you're told exactly what to do, and there's a jump map.  So no thought involved and the characters have apparently lost all their charm.  So a definite no-go for me ... unless GameHouse gets it and I can play it for nothing.

Oh, and it's made by the makers of City of Fools but they've dumbed it down and made it a HOG ... but with the same characters and I think locations and the same mumbling.  And it's a standalone game, neither a sequel nor prequel to CoF.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I jumped the gun and bought  Who Am I   with a pcc  for the extra punch.  Same setting and characters as COF.  Story is not nearly as complex,  but one reason it's short is that the map is of the  "jump"  variety,  which helps enormously with getting around.  Disappointing,  but hey,  it was free.
Wah!  I finished  Adelantado 3,  and was so sorry to see it end.
I keep being pulled back to  King Oddball  and,  miraculously,  seem to be getting most of the trophies,  though I haven't found the  "secret level."  Maybe you have to finish everything else.  Don't start it if you have an addictive personality.
Wow!  Elephant Games half price!!  Too bad I already have them all.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

In regards to Who Am I, that's very disappointing to hear.  Wonder just whom the devs thought the game would appeal to?

I finished the main game of Nightmare Realm: In the End... Collector's Edition.  The interaction in some of the HO scenes was very imaginative, the puzzles were a mixed bag (Tower of Hanoi?  Oh, please, retire that one).  The storyline was...disturbing.  I was into the game at the beginning, but by chapter 4 (out of 7), I was ready for it to be over.  I missed some of the origami collectibles and therefore can't read some of the character cards.  I'll play the bonus chapter tonight.

Sunshinej, I loved The Pantheon! The bonus game was short but I think it was worth the CE and don´t regret it all! I didn´t like Haunted Hotel so I didn´t buy it.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I'm pretty sure I remember there were some Puzzle Quest fans in here, so I just came by to mention I bought Puzzle Quest: Galactrix today for $0.99 on Steam. It's a Steam Daily Deal sale for 90% off. Here's the link for anyone interested: http://store.steampowered.com/news/12207/. Looks like it'll be on sale for all of today (Tuesday) and into tomorrow.

I only played a little of it so far, but it's basically a sci-fi version of the original Puzzle Quest. The board is a little different, with hexagonal tiles. And a little more strategy is involved in what matches to make because the tiles will fall based on the direction of the match you make. Puzzle Quest 1 and 2 are among my favorite games. I'll be interested to see how this differs and whether or not it lives up to the other two.

I just noticed Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords is also on sale for $0.99. This looks to be the same game as Puzzle Quest 2, but I didn't check to be sure.

Hey, sunny sun sunshinej, I haven't as yet played either game ....  no surprise there ... however,  I got the Surface CE, so I obviously felt it was worth it, whereas I only got the Haunted Hotel SE.  Like Anki I didn't like it much at first and wasn't going to even get the SE but I had a PCC expiring and needed one more game at the end of the month to fill a punch card so, after agonising over games, and trying it again, I finally decided to get the SE.  The only collectibles in the CE were posters that, at least in the demo, were super easy to find and didn't interest me.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Thanks for the info, Jen.  It sounds interesting but I'm afraid I steer clear of Steam.  However, I'd really like to hear what you think of it once you're playing it.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Thanks Anki & Stusue.  I did get the CE of Surface: The Pantheon.  Nice to get it half off so I said why not.

Right now I am playing Deadly Voltage: Rise of the Invincible.  It is a pretty good game.  Enjoying it.
