Tirama, I just have no interest in FTP games.  I don't like straight HOGs like Gardenscape at all and the ones I've looked at just don't compare to all the bought games I have that I'm yet to play.  There aren't enough hours in the day to play all my unplayed games, let alone start playing neverending FTP games.    My sister used to play some farming game on Pogo and she ended up spending so many hours every day trying to get all the tasks done to get awards or whatever that it started taking over her life as it was always, I'll just do one more level, just one more, just one more.  So she just stopped cold turkey one day as she wanted her life back.

I guess that's the very reason I haven't done any FTP games because they sound a lot like a couple I played for quite a while on FB.  Probably the same ones your sister did.  I would wake up early and try to get as many quests done as I could, go to work (they blocked our FB so no play at work, duh) and then worked on them at night.  I played Farmville and Castleville and loved them because they were fun and I met some really nice people (you have to have friends to send you stuff) but the requests got so time consuming that I could never catch up and ran out of room. Then they started adding more farm areas and woods area and I said "enough".  Also quit cold turkey.  I wasted a lot of time when I could have been playing my bought games and working on my other game challenges.

Someone mentioned the Alex Hunter game ~ I think it is also a sale game on Friday at Legacy Games.  Went over there and looked and ended up getting The Fog for $2.95.  Went ahead and reactivated my BFG membership for a month so I could get the Madame Fate and Christmas Carol games.  Haven't really missed it that much as both my parents have been in and out of the hospital since the first of December.  We have put my mom on hospice care since her dementia seems to be in last stage.  She had terrible congestion and thought it might be pneumonia, but diagnosis was hypoxia, something having to do with oxygenation of her blood.  She has really declined since her falls in June so just take each day as it comes.  Off to their community now for a small Christmas dinner and party.

Thanks stusue.  I went back and I made a lot more progress in just a few minutes this time with LEGACY.  Some of the puzzles are fun, some get challenging (and I'm only doing the ones at the beginning of the game).  The puzzle like pick-up sticks was fun until I got to the feathers.  It was hard to tell one feather from the next due to the colors but I got them.

If the ALEX HUNTER game has a SG sign me up!  Actually I have to start making a list of what I'd like to buy (CEs ad SEs).  Right now things are scattered on all different bits of paper.

lilyr, I'd forgotten all about that pick-up sticks game.  Yeah, it did get harder each level, now that I think about it.  Have fun with the rest of the game!

And yes, Alex Hunter has an SG!!!!    When you open it it's just 2 screenshots per page with everything circled in different coloured circles.  But then, when you click on one of the screenshots, a step-by-step guide comes up with what you have to do.  I found that great as you can either just have a quick look at the screenshot to see where something's located, without getting too much info, or get a detailed guide if you want to be told exactly what to do.  I've never seen an SG done like that before.  And the collectibles are both listed at the back and shown on the map, so you know if you've missed one.  And they're quite well hidden as they're " symbols, one was grafittied on a wall, one inside the letterbox, one was a small statue... "

Whenever we have a BOGOF or I have PCCs about to expire, I just have to get my BFG folder out where I keep an up-to-date list of all the games in chronological order with all my notes and marked whether I want the game, don't want the game, or I'm not sure, also with a running list of SEs with which I can fill punch cards at the end of the month if I'm short.

Re: Finish your games challenge

Tee, I'm so sorry to hear about your parents.  It must be really hard for you, especially at this time of year.  I hope your mum's comfortable and I hope your dad's okay.  I'll keep you and your parents in my thoughts and prayers.  I hope the Christmas party was fun!

And I think Farmville was the game my sister used to play.  She didn't have time for all the challenges you had to do to get all the badges, or whatever it was she got, and so a friend of hers who wasn't working at the time used to do them for her.  I can't remember how many levels there were but when she started there were, let's say, 50.  And when she got close to that she was so happy that she was almost finished, until they upped it to 75. Then when she got close to 75 they upped it to 100, when she thought that that would be the end.  But noooooo!  They upped it yet again.  That's when she realised that it was never going to end, that she wasn't even enjoying it anymore, and she wasn't even playing it but getting her friend to do all the challenges for her just so that she could get the badges.  That's when she realised how stupid she was to continue something she wasn't even playing or enjoying and stopped.

I think also that you could get things in RL with your badges, or coins, or whatever it was you collected.  However, that was only for people in America.  So she was collecting all these things for absolutely nothing.  I don't think she plays anything anymore, other than the games she and I play on Skype together every day while we chat.

How do you know what's coming up on sale at Legacy Games?  On FB?  I can't see anything to say what's coming up on their website.    I hope you have fun with The Fog.  I started it and loved what I'd played but haven't had time to play it for a week or so, so I've forgotten everything.  I thnk I'm going to have to start right from the beginning again, as it's worth it.

Re: Finish your games challenge

The new game on sale at Legacy Games is ...

Aquascapes

$2.95 as usual but I'm not sure for how long as they haven't changed the date from the last game (still showing 17 December) but I imagine until 24 December.

ETA:  I forgot to add that The Fog is still on sale for $2.95 until 20 December.

Thank you, sue. It was nice and she was able to be with us and enjoy it.  Took a pic of my folks with Santa Claus.  They had these small fake candles with a cardinal on top of the glass and when you moved your hand, they chirped and she loved holding it.  They gave a few of the residents bells to ring while they played Xmas songs and she sang along so my heart was full of happiness while I watched her.  My son recently asked if I would be really sad when she passed and I told him "no" because I had done everything I could for them these last few years and had so many things to remind me of them so they would still be with me everyday.

sue, if you look at this month's games and sales blip on the right side of the Legacy home page, it brings up a small calendar and it shows the Tuesday and Friday offerings.  It says Dec 12 calendar but the games are the ones offered so far and Alex Hunter is showing for Friday.  See on BFG this morning, they're having a "modified" BOGO again in the middle of the week.  Like someone mentioned previously, maybe they figured out about carryover codes working on BPM and they're switching things up.  Definitely getting the Christmas Carol game today and maybe one other 4/5* game.

Re: Finish your games challenge

Tee, I'm so glad you all had fun at the party!    I'm sure the photo with Santa will be one you'll treasure forever.

Thanks so much for the info re the calendar on the Legacy home page.    However, I didn't get a small calendar, but rather clicked on the calendar halfway down on the right and got a calendar for the entire month of December with all the games that will be offered on sale shown.  I'd never noticed it before.    But I'll certainly be looking every month from now on!

So, do I get Alex Hunter with a PCC on BFG, or get it for $2.95 on Legacy and keep the PCC for another game?    And I noticed that the next game up is New Yankee in Santa's Service.  I loved the first 2 and have played both many times.  But that decision will be even harder than the other one - PCC on BFG, $2.95 on Legacy, or with a coupon code on GameHouse?    All I know is that I'll be getting both of them from somewhere.

BFG has the half-price sales in the middle of the week but BOGOF's are normally for 2 days on the weekend, followed by BPM.  Speaking of which, why aren't you waiting to get the Christmas Carol game and whichever other one you decide to get until Monday so that you get the extra punches????

Re: Finish your games challenge

stusue...Alex Hunter is at GameHouse today.  I d/l using my funpass it looks good and has all the bells & whistles that the BF game has.

I finished Phantom of the Opera and really enjoyed the game.  The main ending could have been fleshed out some more.  Was disappointed in the bonus chapter - it only took me 40 minutes.

Started Nearwood yesterday.  What a beautiful game.  Stuck on a flower puzzle at the parents house right now.

Teeitup...So sorry to hear about your mom.

Re: Finish your games challenge

Decided to play Ancient Mosaic as my paid game.

Still playing Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'.  Bummed out because I won't be able to complete all the Christmas quests.  I need to buy clam chowder, but it's locked and to unlock it you have to upgrade the diner to level 2 and the diner isn't even available to me to be upgraded to level 1.  Lesson learned.  Get in on the ground floor of these free to play games so I've advanced enough to partake of all the special occasion goodies.

Going to give Awakening Kingdoms another go.

The holidays can be a bittersweet time as we get older, especially so if we've lost family and/or friends around that time.  Big hugs to barre and to all those who will be sitting down to holiday dinner and missing loved ones.

Teeitup - I'm so sorry about your mom, but glad that you are able to spend time with your parents while they're still here.

I thought about that but the last few weeks they really haven't had a true BOGO so decided to go ahead and get it now; now watch, it will be a true one right before Xmas but that's OK, don't really need a lot of PCC's as that will just keep me locked in again.  Do want to get a couple of SE's I've read you all talking about.  I don't miss it but it sure is fun figuring out what to get.

Thanks, sunshine and Tirama ~ I do value my time with them as they are both 89 and I know I am luckier than most.

Re: Finish your games challenge

Woo hoo, I've finished Solitaire Mystery: Four Seasons  I wasn't terribly impressed with this one.  It's just so slow (you can take as long as you like for each level), quiet, ho hum, with no excitement - no powerups, no achievements, just a really easy solitaire that you just had to finish each level to get all 48 pieces of whatever they were, as well as 12 pieces of the clock to fix the town.  The backgrounds were quite nice, though, as was the music.  But the HOSs were great!  Not the slightly interactive ones, which were fine, but the association ones.  They were brilliant and very clever.  However, once you've finished, you can do the Free Play, but it's only the plain, boring solitaire levels, not the fun HOSs.    And one really weird thing, you get the start of one story, which ends with "then..." and you never hear what happened after that.  The next time you get a newspaper item it's about the town.  Really weird ... or I'm just stupid and didn't get it.

I've also finished Monument Builders - Empire State Building.  Another disappointment as it wasn't nearly as good as Monument Builders - Notre Dame, which I've played several times.  Lucky I didn't buy it, or Solitaire Mystery.

So, after 2 disappointments I'm ready for a really good game.  Methinks I'll either finish The Fog or play Alex Hunter next.
