Re: Finish your games challenge

Congrats Wendy!  I hate those ones as well.  Dark Strokes was a good game, good story to it.

I started Off the Record Linden Shades.  Very nice game so far.  One of the achievements is to skip five puzzles, and the dread 10 in 10 seconds and to not open the map.  In this game so far I don't find a map necessary so I may get that one.  No matter how I have them all sussed outfor the 10 items 10 secs I can never do it. The storyline is good, graphics are very nice and I do like all the collectibles.  First thing I do is look for them otherwise I'll forget.

Re: Finish your games challenge

Stusue, I loved Cursed House 2 even though the first Cursed House was better.  It still had different modes for different rooms and was challenging.  I haven't played Call of the Ages yet so can't comment on it.  I loved Puzzle Hero when I played it...a long time ago.  Didn't find it difficult at all.  You had to select the right weapons and armour in order to defeat the different bosses.  All it takes is the right strategy.

Sandhan, re Zombie Solitaire and the wild cards, usually when I see a specific number come up in the game and I have it in my own collection, what I do is use that number that I own before collecting the free one given.  Otherwise it doesn't register that you've got two in your stash...kinda unfair of them.  It usually works out that you can use your own and clear some cards before collecting the free one.  Same for the free "zombie slap" card.  I don't collect it until I clear all the cards that I can   clear.  It all depends on strategy used for this game.

Re: Finish your games challenge

Barre, thanks for the info.  I wasn't terribly impressed with Cursed House 2 when I demoed it so I'll try it again and see if my impression of it has changed.  GH has finally gotten back to me and my CC is valid until Christmas so I'm hoping you play Call of the Ages before then and let me know what you think.    And I've just finished Puzzle Hero!  Just beat the final boss monster.    Now I can just choose whichever monster I want to battle in the Arcade.  It'll be a great game for when I just want something to play for a short time.  And yes, I did find it easy, which is what I wanted, especially as a trial before I start Puzzle Quest, which I think is much more complicated.  I just had to replay some of the monster battles a few times until I finally beat them.

Oscar, I love having to find 10 objects in 10 secs.    I first find 10 objects, memorise where they all are, then practice clicking on them in a line around the screen without actually clicking and then, only when I'm sure I can do it without hesitation, do I actually click on them all.  I find it fun.  I've got Off the Record Linden Shades CE but haven't played it yet.  But I think it's unfair to have an achievement for skipping 5 puzzles!    I hope you can replay all the puzzles in the Extras so it's okay to skip them in the game!

Re: Finish your games challenge

I finally finished Dark Strokes: Sins of the Father.  It was a pretty good game and the backtracking wasn't too horrible.  I was disappointed in the bonus chapter.  There was a huge unanswered question in the main game and I thought the bonus would answer it, but it went in a totally different direction, one that we already knew and understood.  I feel like the CE version wasn't worth it, the SE would have been fine.

I started the SE of the new Enigmatus.  I hated the constant HOs and backtracking of the first game, this one is much more my taste.  It even made me jump a few times

I got Zombie Solitaire the other day, maybe I'll start it today.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Re: Finish your games challenge

Barre,  That's what I do for the  Zombie Slap card,  but never thought of it for the wild card.  Incidentally,  my experimental  "don't buy powerups"  strategy is rather interesting.  I really didn't expect to get very far,  but here I am,  about to enter the old familiar sewers,  and haven't yet bought a powerup.  What's more,  I have 70,000 gold coins!  That's far more than I was able to accumulate playing normally.
I don't necessarily recommend it;  not many  "perfects,"  for instance,  but hey!  If you're going to be obsessed,  you gotta find ways to make it interesting!

Re: Finish your games challenge

Stusue - I usually have it all mapped out and still fail to get it.  So I sat there thinking what would stusue do? Or wwssd?  I went over those 10 suckers several times had my plan of action all mapped out and started clicking. unfortunately one of my clicks the "slat of metal" did not take and I quickly added a horn to the bicycle and what do you know I did it! I was right about the slat of metal too, not quite sure why it didn't pick up.  So thank you!

I am really enjoying Off the Record, it's fun.  And yes I did skip 5 puzzles to get the achievement.  I'll have to see if they're in the extra content. I think I am almost done as the collectibles are down to just one each and a few crayons.  I'm in the mine.

YAY, Oscar!  WTG!!!!  I knew you could do it!    Stupid "slat of metal".    But wwssd?  Really?  Aw, shucks.

Let me know about Off the Record and the skipped puzzles.  I sure hope there isn't also an achievement for not skipping any puzzles!    I got the CE in spite of the lukewarm reviews because I really liked what I saw in the demo and liked all the collectibles.  But I don't remember seeing an achievement for skipping 5 puzzles!    What were the developers thinking?!?!?!?!

I recently played this game.  As I recall, there were several puzzles that the SG didn't show how to solve because the starting position was random.  So I was very happy to see that you could skip them.  There's an achievement for skipping 5, and an achevement for NOT skipping 5 (in other words, for completing 5.)  Since there's more than 10 puzzles, you can get both achievements.

I really hate when devs have an achievemnt for finishing x amount of HO's in under x minutes and they must be done consecutively, and an achievement for taking over 10 mintes.  And you better take 10 minutes on the first or last HO, because otherwise you can't get both achievements.

I finished the main game of Phantasmat Collector's Edition,  Will do the bonus chapter tonight.  There are 26 different HO scenes, and during the game you play them more than once.  HOw games have changed in 2 years.

I'm not impressed with the new person doing the highlights for BF. Or should I say, supposed to be doing the highlights, since there aren't any for this week so far.  The only person who did a good job, IMO, was bfgSeine.

Re: Finish your games challenge

Thought you'd get a kick out of that Stusue.

I have Phantasmat Crucible Peak to play, it's been awhile since I played the first one. Is is a continuation?

I do have Stray Souls Dollhouse to replay prior to Stolen Memories as I read somewhere the stories were related and I can't remember the storyline in Dollhouse.

I was looking for the hilites as well, and reading the MCF info from the link you posted.  I did the puzzle and thought for a minute it was some golf course from Fairway but then read it was some golf course near Blackpool.

Re: Finish your games challenge

I finished Spooky Bonus.  I am not going to reply it again.  Now I can start Call of the Ages.
