Re: Finish your games challenge

I decided to go with House of 1000 Doors Serpent Flame. I've just started the quest for the fourth element.  It's a pretty nice game.  Nothing out of the ordinary but lots to do. It's not a lengthy game but it is entertaining.  I haven't had to use the SG at all and I'm playing on the expert level, there are only two levels for this casual sparkles or expert none.  And there are none but it is pretty apparent where the active areas are if you move the cursor around.  And I did leave the option on on the map for the morphng objects, but there is one in every scene. The map is very nice, a jump one and it indicates tasks available as well. The morphs are easy to locate as well.  If you think you see one the cursor changes to "the grasping hand" if you hover over it.

Lily the Nightmare of the Deep games are very good.  With good SG and a think since so many of us in here are fans you could get some assistance with whatever is fresh in our minds. Enjoy when you get to them.

Re: Finish your games challenge

I just played a couple demos, I always leave time on them so I can go back and refresh my memory.  I tried the new Enigmatus, Neverwood, and the new Echoes of the Past.  I don't like the EotP series and I only played a few minutes of the new one, it just wasn't doing it for me.  I didn't like the first Enigmatus, way too many HOs, but this one seems much better.  I want to stick to SEs, but when they have all those morphs, collectibles, and achievements.... well, it's going to be a buy one way or the other.  I also liked Nearwood, it will be a tough call on the CE or SE version, too.  I only have so many credits left and I want to make them last because I won't be able to afford to use money on games until next summer, except for my Playrix deals, and stuff like that.  I still need to demo the new Nightmare, I didn't care for the first one at all.  I don't seem to like games set on a ship for some reason.  Did anyone else not like the first?  Is the second a lot better?
I recently finished (or maybe I'm still playing) the first Rite of Passage.  I really like it so I'm looking forward to the second one.  I also need to try the new Mystery Trackers, Surface, and Tales of Lagoona.  And DP Final Cinderella and 1000 Doors.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Re: Finish your games challenge

I have finished Haunted Hotel Eclipse CE and Surface: The Pantheon CE.
Haunted Hotel was so so, I told you before that I thought it was boring but it became slightly better towards the end ( maybe because I was seing the end of it )-

The Pantheon on the other hand, it has sailed up on my top 5 list! I just loved everything in it

I think it was the best of the Surface-games.

If you´re curious my number one is Mystery Legends; The Phantom of the Opera.

Re: Finish your games challenge

Wendy - The new EofP Kingdom of Despair was a pretty good game imo, but I did like the whole series. And the Nightmare series is good.  I'm not sure if you'd like he second one if you didn't like the first, definitely demo it.  When you mention Neverwood, do you mean Nearwood or Nevertales?  Nearwood is in my top 3 games, so beautiful and enjoyable.  I'd play it again.

My top three games are Dreamscapes:Sandman, Nearwood and Mystery of the Ancients Curse of the Blackwater.

Re: Finish your games challenge

Oops, I guess I meant Nevertales.  Off to d/l Nearwood  I loved Dreamscapes Sandman, too.  I own but haven't played Blackwater yet.  Can't remember if I played Mystery Legends Phantom Opera, I know I have it.  There were a couple similar games out when I bought it.

I'm not that crazy about games set on a ship, either, though I did enjoy the first Nightmares from the Deep.  Liked the second one better, and its action takes place more on an island than a ship, but it is still nautical.

The best way to get more bang for your buck (or game club credits)  is to wait for a weekend BOGO, and then take advantage of the fact that the codes still work on Monday, and buy then to get bonus punches.  And only redeem your pcc's on Mondays.  It does mean you have less days to use them, but I think it's worth it.  For instance, at the next BOGO, you could spend 2GCC's and get 4 punches, borrow a pcc (if you don't have one) and get another game.  5 SE's games for 2 GCC's, not too shabby.

Also, trust your judgment.  If you do the demo and you're not feeling the love, it doesn't matter how many of us liked it.  If I recall, you haven't got anything new all summer, so there's got to be a bunch that you will like.  You can alway take a second look at the ones you've passed on when you have more money (you can demo both SE and CE versions, as I recall, and if you own more than one computer, you also can get another demo opportunity.)

Re: Finish your games challenge

I bought  Nevertales;  at 40% off,  I thought I'd save my 2 measley gcc's. Just started playing;  so far it's intriguing.  Seems funny,  though,  to be carrying a baby around,  and not have to feed or change her.  At least she doesn't cry.
Did I mention I finished  Joan of Arc?   I've almost finished  Imperial Island,  but have been stuck at 99% for a couple of days.  I'm playing   "Relaxed,"  of course,  but I keep forgetting about the power-ups.  The game is always complaining that I'm too slow.  "The best time on this level is 2.5 minutes;  YOUR  time is  11 minutes!"
It's the only game in which I'v gotten a trophy for  "completing 10 levels without winning a trophy."  For pete's sake!  Can I help it if just playing is so much fun I forget to pump the adrenalin?

Re: Finish your games challenge

Sandham, when I play a M3 in the relaxed mode I try not to use the powerups.  Doesn't seem fair to have it both ways

I liked Nearwood, too, so pretty. Hubby is sleeping so I'm off to demo a few more.

I tried Siren's Call, I do seem to like it better than the first one.  Being on land is better, I never could figure my way through the ship in the first one.
Tried Mystery Trackers Silent Hollow.  Didn't care for it that much although it has great reviews.  I haven't really loved any of the Mystery Trackers.

Re: Finish your games challenge

I have been playing Zombie Solitaire and it is so much fun, I just keep wanting to go on and on....it's hard to stop.  I just got out of the sewers.  When I first started, I was going for all gold and when I didn't get it I would replaay, as I progress I figured, what's the point of getting all gold, we don't have any achievements to attain in this game, so I didn't bother to replay if I didn't get gold.

I don't know what strategy others adopt when buying the power-ups.  I like the one where we buy a new deck because usually the extra deck will solve the game.  I also like to buy all the numbered tokens.  It's good that the power-ups aren't that expensive because I've got tons of money now.
I'll keep on playing till I finish.  Also playing Spooky Bonus but taking my time.

@sandhan, are you loving Imperial Island? your comment made me smile...so funny. It seems we will never get that airport achievement because it's a bug in the game that is not yet fixed.  The game does not stop at 100%, it just goes on and on.  I'm leaving it in my GM and dplaying whenever I feel like it.

Re: Finish your games challenge

I'm going to an oldie, Timeless The Lost Castle.  I am itching to play Nevertales because of the reviews, but so far have restrained myself.  My punchcard is full and November shockingly is right around the corner.

eta - this isn't that old, I bought it in March.  So far I'm impressed.  Nice graphics, very puzzle heavy.  There is no voicework, it's all written dialogue, but not a lot.  I remember liking Timeless The Lost Town, which I hadn't linked with this.  There is no map (yet) you're on an airship so one may appear later.  The diary is quite nice.  It's set out well. I don't trust the man in red!
