Riddles of Fate is #1 on the Top 100 list but still only #2 on the Top 10 list on the main page behind BF Casino.

And are we surprised at that?
I'm also on another board where another of the threads that I liked from BF ended up. There have been some scary, but not really unexpected, articles about how to manipulate players to maximize profits. These are coming out of Microsoft and MIT's gaming researchers.

I'd be surprised if a company didn't do that. That's what advertising is all about. So many ads for even the most innocuous things have sexual overtones that you're not even aware of, as sex sells. A company's there to make a profit and as big a profit as they can. It's up to the consumer to be aware.
I remember reading about how in the 50s movie theatres started putting nanosecond pictures of popcorn throughout the films. They were too short for you to consciously recognise that you'd seen them but subconsciously your brain had. So, during the break in the middle of the film, a lot more people than normal would not only buy popcorn but also drinks as seeing the salty popcorn had made them thirsty, So that was a great marketing trick - until it was uncovered and then made illegal.
The reason to have all these FTP games is because people end up spending a lot more money (purchasing upgrades, etc, little by little, and maybe don't even realise how much they've actually spent on a game) than if they'd bought the game outright. Unfortunately, the bottom line means getting maximum returns for minimum outlay, and the FTP games would cost a lot less to produce than normal downloadable games.
But, as long as they keep making downloadable PC games that I love, I don't care about the FTP games. Except GameZebo hardly reviews PC games anymore. It's all just games for phones and androids, etc. When I get an email from them with the latest reviews, etc, only one is for a PC game; all the others are for phones, etc.

I just noticed that Big Fish Casino is also #2 now on the main game page. I imagine it was #1 for so long as every time a new GM was downloaded (which seems to have happened a lot lately) BF Casino was downloaded as well, which means that EVERYONE downloaded it, whether they wanted to or not, hence the #1 rating. However, now that everyone's already got it, it won't be downloaded so much now and so it should start dropping down the rankings.
But I gather, if BF Casino is on FB, then you don't have to have anything to do with BFG to play it? Anyone who's never even heard of BFG can just play it on FB and not even know about BFG's site or downloadable games? I have no idea how it all works.

I have no idea whether the link on Facebook is for the online version or the downloadable version. The link wanted me to use a browser other than Windows (Chrome, Firefox, and I forget the other choice).
I just checked the on-line games pages, where you can also play, and it's currently the number 1 online game, with more than twicw as many people playing it as the number two game.
There are spme free-to-play games I intend to check out, but not until I get more of my paid for games played. But I have no intention of buying any add-ons. Since I have the discipline to wait months, if necessary, for CE BOGO's, waiting until the next day for my energy or whatnot to replenish will be a piece of cake.
