Re: The Chat Lounge

I've been concerned about her too oscar. She hasn't posted in a while. She did have her sister with her for quite a while. I don't know if her sister is still there. Her last post said she was exhausted.

Re: The Chat Lounge

I believe I chatted to her once briefly after her sister had left but nothing since.  It's concerning especially as she was not feeling well at all.

Re: The Chat Lounge

Hi Oscar, Lily and Sunshine!

I'm so, so sorry you've been worried about me but I've only just spotted this thread.

Yes, I have been really sick since my sister left - I've lost count but I think it's something like 12 relapses.  The third one was by far the worst one and I'm still suffering from its aftereffects.  I haven't tasted anything since that relapse and, after I got back from Paris in January (friends were supposed to come to me for Christmas but couldn't come so I met up with them in Paris before they flew back home to Sydney, and had yet another relapse there!), my doc decided that I had to see a neurologist to see if I had a brain tumour.  I saw him a few weeks ago, quaking in my boots, but fortunately I don't have a brain tumour, or Parkinson's, or any other such awful problem.

Then I saw an ENT specialist and I've been taking a special cortisone nasal spray but it hasn't worked and things are actually worse.  So now I have to go back to him and the next step is laser treatment on the inside of my nose, removing all the swelling on the lining of my nasal passages so that I can breathe again ... and hopefully taste again.  I'd like a permanent fix but I really don't like the idea of lasers heading up my nose, when my brain's right there!

But it hasn't only been my own health that's been the issue.  Last Friday we found out that my little 10-week-old great niece had a brain tumour!  She's an absolute miracle baby as my niece had virtually no chance of ever falling pregnant and she's so small at only 10 weeks old!  As you can imagine, these past fews days have been horrific, but we found out today that she doesn't have a brain tumour but rather 2 cysts on her brain - which, though, can turn into tumours at any point in her life!  So she has to always be monitored and special care has to be taken to see that she reaches all of her milestones.

Does anyone know anything about cysts on the brain?

Then today, just after I found out that little Aubrey has cysts on the brain rather than a brain tumour, I was told that the wife of one of my nephews has breast cancer and we think that it must be fairly advanced as she only found out 2 weeks ago and started chemo today.  Her comment on Facebook was that if you feel sick, go to the doctor's.  So it looks like she only found out once she was already having symptoms, rather than by a regular mammogram where it would have been picked up early, before any symptoms.  She has 3 kids from a previous marriage but she and my nephew have a little 3yo girl who needs her mum.

My sister was also hospitalised just after she got back home from here - supposedly just for 2 weeks to have her medication changed (she has lots of different mental health issues) but ended up being there for over 2 months, only getting out for a few hours on Christmas Day to have lunch with her kids and grandkids, and she's still having problems and her doctor's are still trying to sort things out.

And these are just some of the highlights of what's been going on with me and my family healthwise since you last heard from me.

But thanks so much for caring!  I'm not used to it as my family never worry about how I'm going.

Thanks!
