Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

I finished Kingdom of Aurelia: Mystery of the Poisoned Dagger PE and Fierce Tales: Feline Sight PE. Aurelia was pretty good and released the same day on GH as on BFG amazingly enough. It didn't qualify for a CE on BFG and rightly so but the bonus chapter is good.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

Just found out that BFG has told Goblinz that they won't release True Fear 2 until next summer.
"We have received bad news and wanted to make sure that we have a solution before announcing it.To our surprise Big Fish Games were not very interested in the sequel to True Fear. We were told that there are already “a lot of quality games” waiting for release and True Fear 2 won’t launch until the summer of 2017…
As a result we will probably release the game ourselves on Steam and a few other portals. It was a big decision for us, but there was absolutely no way that we would make you wait another six months. Having said so, we are still trying to work with Big Fish. We will post the release dates as soon as we know them – hopefully before the end of September.
Despite having to take on a few jobs on the side to help pay the salaries, we are on schedule to have the release version by the end of September. Then, hopefully, we’ll have a release date fast enough. We expect to come back with more news next week!"
I wrote to BFG customer service and complained.  I have a Steam account but don't really go there and would rather buy it at BFG or GH.
Still playing and enjoying Darkness and Flame.  This poor young girl has to do everything for the 2 adult men but they always have a reason... we have to do such and such instead, the lizard skin is too small for us to wear...  may not be the greatest reasons but at least there are reasons, lol.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

Keep us posted, Wendy please. I'm hoping they release it at GH then!

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

When I read Wendy's post I contacted GH and asked them about it.  This is their super quick response ...

"Thanks for getting in touch with GameHouse Support. I have just asked the person in charge of content for the site about this. She didn't know about the game, but has told me that she will write to the Developer to ask him about it, it may be that it has an exclusivity deal with someone else, but I will get back in touch with you once I have a better answer for this."

Fingers crossed GH can get it as soon as it's ready for release!  They already have True Fear 1, which is listed as being published by Digital Lounge, so hopefully they can organise a release directly with Goblinz so that they can release it ASAP.  I'm sure they'd love to release it before BFG!

I'll keep you posted as soon as I get a response.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

Last weekend's BOGOF was the 3rd in a row that I haven't taken advantage of.

These days there are so few CEs that I think are worthy, with enough extras and especially with no help (which is my new main criteria), that I'm just going to wait until GH gets them and then play the CEs with my FunPass.  I may have to wait awhile but it's not as if I have nothing else play while I wait!  And any SEs I want to get I get with PCCs.

Unfortunately, it seems that most games with touch that allow you to turn off all the help (contextual icon changes, plus item indicators, helpful messages) are either games I don't like or whose bonus games and extras aren't anything to write home about (hence I get the SE if I don't want to wait), and any game that I really love doesn't have touch and won't allow you to turn off any of the help, so I don't get it at all, either CE or SE, unless I have some extra PCCs floating around.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

I'm playing Darkness and Flame as well.  The graphics are beautiful but I don't find it particularly challenging, something is missing in it for me story wise as well.

I too managed to get thru August without purchasing anything.  So there is a little backlog of things for me to pick up but like Stusue I'm finding the SE is good enough for a lot of them.  I do like a morph and collectable but I find by the end my attention is waning and I play the bonus out of some sort of obligation versus a desire to further the story.  And I do like the challenge of playing with everything off, although I appreciate the map when there is a lot of back and forth like in Darkness and Flame. It annoys me when you turn off sparkles yet they are there.  Queens Quest was like that.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

Wow, I replied to Patrick at GameHouse, thanking him for his quick response and saying that I hope I heard back from him soon with some good news and he's already replied!  He wrote:

"Well we are certainly interested in the new game, so hopefully we will get a response from them soon.
I will keep you informed"

Fingers crossed!

WOW! Well done, stusue, for writing to GH. I never even thought to do that! Patrick did give a quick response. Fingers and paws crossed that they get it. They really seem to have got their act together lately, I can't keep up with all the games they keep putting up

I found a lack of something in Darkness and Flame too but I just don't know what!

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

Hey, for all you GameHouse people, they have a HUGE sale on now!

All Packs and Bundles will be discontinued as of September 15, 2016 on GameHouse, as we can no longer support them and want to focus more of our efforts on FunPass.

To let you benefit from these Packs and bundles before they're removed, you now get a 50% discount on all Packs by redeeming the following coupon code when buying a Pack:

MULTIPACK50

Act fast, as they'll be gone by September 15!

Here's the link to the page with all the packs so you can check them out ...

http://www.gamehouse.com/super-pack-games

I know we can always use our usual code to get a 50% discount but this way it's legal!

And I wonder what they have in store for FunPass ... sounds like they aren't going to get rid of it anytime soon!

I wonder if there are any packs I don't have ...

Well, I thought I'd let them know that BFG had refused to release it straight away (which seems to show that their games are lined up for 9 months!) as I'm sure they'd love to release a CE before BFG, as they don't do that very often.  Maybe they'd also like to deal with the developers directly, as they got True Fear 1 through yet another publisher.

I played Darkness and Flame way back on 8 July!  I know I really liked it but didn't think it CE worthy, although I'm not sorry I got it as the MOs were super hard to spot and very cleverly hidden.  It was also long (MG = 7 hours, BG = 1:40 hours).  I also remember that it had something that I've never come across before and that I really, really like ... even after you've finished the MG and BG, you can still go back into the game and read the journals!  That's something that I always wish developers would include as I like being able to go back and read the story, which is really handy if you take a break from the game so you can remember what's happened so far, and especially when you play any sequels!  I'm not going to post a review now as it's way too late but I'll see if I can tomorrow.
