Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

I really liked it, Wendy. In my text list on my computer I gave it a heart. Try it again sometime, maybe you were just in the wrong mood before.

I'm sorry to hear that Tirama.  I hope he settles in okay.  My dad is in the same boat although he is still mobile with a walker. He was to see a therapist to be assessed and has exercises to do as he is very weak.  Doing exercises with someone who might not even understand what his arm or leg is at that moment has been difficult for my mom. He is on a waiting list for a long term care nursing home.  I do wish my mom had done it sooner as the list is a couple of years wait for where she wants.  I don't believe she will get what she hopes for though as he is unfortunately deteriorating quite quickly and she has health problems of her own. My fear is one of his falls will result in a broken hip or something.

Thanks Oscar.  We were really lucky to get him into this place.  They only have room for 90 Medicare/Medicaid patients.  It has an excellent rating and is about a 15 minute drive from where we live.  Once we get his affairs in order, I really think my DH and I need to sit down with an Elder Care law firm and start planning for our old age, because by the time you can no longer look after yourself, it's too late and somebody else has to make the arrangements for you.

I hope your father can get placed sooner than a couple of years.  Until that happens, does the health care system provide any in-home help?

In the gaming world, I've managed to finish 11 levels of Mystery P.I.: Lost in Los Angeles.  So glad I finished Ominous Objects 3 last month.  A new once was released today. Eventually I'd like to reach the point with my CE's that when a new game in a series is released, I have already played all the prior ones.  But I can't see that happening this year.  Maybe next year.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

Agreed Lily it is a hard decision.  My siblings and I wanted her to knowing how long the wait could be though.  She was pretty firm about it then.  A year ago Tirama she had a RNA for one hour a week.  One hour!!! Ridiculous.  I pushed her repeatedly to have everything assessed again.  She now has an RNA for 4 hours one day.  A visitor for a couple of hours another and he goes to basically daycare thru the VON twice a week.  They have their Alzheimer's group once every other week as well for a few hours.  Can you believe they were not going to approve a walker for him (one that got a rebate) because they didn't feel he could work it on his own unsupervised.   Hmm so they'd rather he ended up on his ass several times a day then have this support.  He is never on his own.  They made it sound like he was out for an evening stroll on his own every day.  He has left the house a couple of times despite the alarm system mom had installed but hasn't gotten very far.  She had dozed off.  Now she has key locks on both doors.  Still I worry.

oscar -- I am so sorry.  It sounds as though you (and your mother) are doing what you can.  Praying that your father gets into a good facility soon or your mother gets more help at home.  It can be very, very hard to deal with aging parents, let alone those with this disease.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

My dad died before I was 20, my mom before I was 40, they were both in their 70s but we don't seem to have anything in particular run in the family, I don't think anybody's had Altzheimer's, thankfully.  They were both alert and capable until the end.  Rita, my sis who just died, and my other sis are 70s also with full mental health.  Sorry to hear about your families, girls.
I just played two boards of Sunshine Siesta M3, hated it.  The presentation was childish, which I can look past, but the boards were hexagons and I can't stand that type and won't play them because I just can't 'get' how the tiles move.
I finished up Save Halloween M3, 100 levels.  Not my favorite but I will replay at Halloween if I run out of other stuff.
Still thoroughly enjoying Royal Honeymoon but I've missed some shields that I can't go back for so will not get to open a door or something.  Boo, hiss!!!
It's incredibly hot and humid here, I bought a portable A/C and put it in the back of the van and cut a hole through to my bunk.  It keeps the bunk cold but it doesn't seem to do much for the cab area with the seats when it's this hot.  We're playing a new spot this week and can't even really tell if it's any good or not because of the weather, we have more than a 50% chance of rain every day for the next week.  And a flash flood watch issued for tomorrow

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

Thanks Wendy. My dad is the first to have this disease in his family.  Unfortunately it is indiscriminate.  My aunt, his older sister passed away a couple of weeks ago from pneumonia.  She did have a heart issue and was in her 80s.  Heart issues are what have struck down his two sisters and mom and dad, but in there 80s except for his dad.  It is just such a sad decline. I look at him and then look at grandpa, still going strong at 97, you just never know.

It has been stinking hot here.  Heat wave after wave. my lawn is just a sea of brown.  On the plus side I haven't mowed since early June. It's 89 right now and I can't wait until the weekend, its supposed to break. Humidity makes it feel like mid 90s.  So glad I bought that pool.

Has anyone played or did the demo on The Inner World...today's DD.  If so, what did you think about it?

I just realized that we just had our 3rd anniversary since the closing of CCC.  How time flies.

Wow!  3 years!

I hate how the older you get the quicker time flies.  Remember school holidays when we were little that seemed to last a lifetime?  Now you blink and they're over!

So, The Inner World ... I bought it when it came out but I can't remember finishing it.  Story of my life ...

Here are a couple of average Critic Reviews from Metacritic (ie. not the top ones nor the bottom ones):

The Inner World turned out to be a very charming game with an interesting setting. If you're drawn to cartonesk looking games and are really into the point-and-click kind of puzzles, than you will certainly have a blast with this one. However, it's still missing some important elements so don't expect it to rock your world.

If you’re trying to figure out what it is that makes The Inner World so satisfying, you’re really not going to be able to pick any one thing. The story, graphics, and gameplay are all okay, but it’s the sum of the parts that synthesizes The Inner World into the charming gem that it is.

If you're into Point and Click adventure games, as I think you are, then it's a steal at this price and I'd grab it if I were you.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

Hi stusue,  Yes,  time is flying by quicker than ever.  I do remember time off from school in the summertime.  Nice long, lazy summer days to do as you pleased except when I was in high school...I got a summer job, but that was good too, since I had some money of my own.  Now they go by so fast!

Thanks for the info on The Inner World.  I wasn't too sure about the cartoon aspect of it, but I do like a good point & click game and it did get good reviews so I went ahead and just bought it.  Plus, like you said it is at a good price.
