Interesting Tirama. Since Microsoft is pretty eager to get everyone on Win 10 (so they only have one OS to update) will there even be updates for what you are running? It seems as though the only updates I get from Microsoft are updates to things I don't use -- like Office. My security system says IE has needed security updates, and I don't use whatever it is that Microsoft has as security. Google has stopped supporting VISTA (my OS) so I don't get any more updates to the browser.

Win 8.1 is less than 3 years old and is still being supported. I'll move to Win10 when I have to get a new machine. Of course, by then, Microsoft could change their mind and come up with a different OS they'll insist on ramming down my throat.

I will be getting a new computer sooner rather than later because I know there are games I own (and love) that won't play on Win 10. Heck, there are some games that won't play on Win 7! I want to keep my Vista OS computer "alive" so I can play them.

I had a pop-up from Win 10 about upgrading and when I clicked out of it, it said something to the effect that by declining, I would receive no further notices about updating.....YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am also going to wait until I need a new computer before having to get it. I didn't mind Win 10 when I upgraded last summer but when it wouldn't play some of my old BFG games, I reverted back. Now that I have a new HD, it might be a while before I need to get a new computer.

Lilir, if you own some games, and they are not online to play, can't you disconnect internet and play without notification about upgrades.

mila -- My issue is that some of my really old games won't play on any OS newer than Microsoft Vista. As long as I have a working computer that has Vista I can play these games. I think some of the other people were talking about GameHouse (in particular) no longer offering games that people had bought for real money.

Anyone a Star Trek fan? Husband & I went to see Star Trek Beyond and we both thought it was fantastic.
Chris Pine makes a excellent Captain Kirk.
Zachary Quinto makes a awesome Spock...who is my favorite character in the original series and these newest films
Karl Urban is perfect as Doctor Bones McCoy.

I like Star Trek as well so I'm looking forward to the movie.

Oscar...I liked the movie so much, that I want to see it again.
Does this bother anyone else besides me. Using drug for dragged. For example... that job drug on for so long that... or that job dragged on for so long that...
That first example doesn't even make sense to me and I heard it from my boss. I was taught the past tense of drag is dragged. Drug just sounds weird and incorrect.
I have had my cell phone so long that my cell phone provider said that they won't let me use it anymore as it is outdated for their new system. They provided me a new one free of charge, but since it is a touch screen and not one with a qwerty keyboard, I hate it. I use it to text my kids and husband and every text has so many misspelled words because of the touch screen keypad. The other one with the qwerty keyboard was so nice. Finding another prepaid phone with a qwerty keypad is impossible, I don't think anyone makes them anymore. Sigh.
