Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

Anki...I might have to try out the Nonagram: Wolf Stories.

Oscar...Too true.

I finished Beyond: Light Advent CE   I liked it and thought it was pretty good.  I like Mad Head Games though.  The bonus wasn't necessary to the main game.  It is you saving your friend's home planet.  I like sci-fi and I enjoyed this game.  Are there any other sci-fi games?  I don't seem to recall any  except for going into portals to other worlds which is not quite what I was looking for.

I started Tesla's Tower: The Wardenclyffe Mystery.  A nice game from one of my stockpile.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

I finished Nonograms: Wolf's Stories (hope there's a sequel) and decided to play Dark Canvas: A Murder Exposed Collector's Edition because it was already downloaded and in my game manager app.   Finished main game and hope to finish bonus chapter tonight.

MC was just updated.  Love the message that appears when you open the game and wait for the new material to be applied:  It takes centuries to build a castle.  Can you wait a little longer?

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

Well I took Stusue's recommendation on Redemption Cemetery At Death's Door CE and played it with everything disabled (except hint and skip, just in case) and the puzzles you could choose on hard.  What a great game! ERS did a bang up job with this one. There were a few times I was left thinking hmm what to do what to do, but kept looking about.  It did have a few things that had sweet spots so even if you thought you'd checked I say double check.  I managed to only "die" once in the gas/oxygen game.  I got all the achievements except the "pick more than you can" cause I didn't know what it was and I missed 3 of the collectable clocks.  The bonus portion took me about 1.5 hours so a nice addition and prequel.  The puzzles weren't difficult but there was some new things and different twists.  Two thumbs up and a big recommendation.

PS. I replayed all the HOS in extras and I was annoyed I couldn't get 100% in the one that had pairs in it.  It should have been but it gave 15%. A glitch I assume.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

Weird.  You guys were just all chatting about Agatha Christie games and there's one out today at GameHouse, The ABC murders.  It's a Platinum Edition and it's not listed at BFG.
I ended up using my other GH credit for Silver Tale.  I'm replaying it now with limited moves, I need to quit playing it and play something else, lol.  Maybe Agatha.  I played most of Love Chronicles: Salvation but got bored and wandered away.  Now I'm playing Dark Tales Masque of Red Death.  Guess I haven't read the story because I thought it was about the plague and the game is about killing unjust officials.  Am I thinking of a different EA Poe story?  True Fear 2 isn't coming out for another couple of months.

ETA:  Just went to d/l Agatha and it was 2600mbs!!!  That will have to wait until I have wi-fi.  Next week is where I had the free wi-fi hot spot from cable providers; I've always had Brighthouse Roadrunner, this year we have Verizon Fios at home so I hope that's one of the providers, I can't remember.

Wendy, I'm actually downloading it right now!  It's an LFA game by Microids, which gave us games such as Syberia, and was only released this year on 4 February in Europe and 23 February in the US.  I can't believe GH already has it, or even has it at all!  GH certainly isn't known for it's LFA games, although they have both Syberia games.

The following is copied from the game's page on the Microids website, where you can find lots of info re the game, like that they've copied the look of David Suchet for the "pixelated" version of Poirot, as he personified Hercule Poirot unlike any other actor.  Let's hope it's a good game and that there'll be lots of other Agatha Christie games!  They've even added an alternative ending to the book, I suppose for those who've read the book (me) and/or seen the movie (me several times), so they won't know who did it.

ANUMAN INTERACTIVE WINS THE AGATHA CHRISTIE LICENSE TO PRODUCE ADVENTURE GAMES UNDER THE MICROIDS LABEL

Microïds has experience in developping several adventure games that have become references points in the industry, with the Syberia saga as its benchmark. Headed by Elliot Grassiano, they are taking on the challenge of bringing some of the crime novelist’s most iconic stories and detectives, such as Hercule Poirot, to life. This deal promises loads of surprises, twisting plots, quality dialogue and drama, subtle interrogations and unexpected outcomes for the fans.

The screenshots look great.  They also said that the game has been developed so that casual players as well as experienced players can play the game, with an interactive Help, although if you use it to take you to the next scene you won't get as many Ego points.

Reading all the info about the game, about the special visuals, etc, it sounds great and I can't wait to play it!  However, by the time it downloads it'll be time for dinner so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to play it.  I have so many things to do but stuff it, I wanna play it!

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

I've now finished Crystals of Time, Crime and Punishment: Who Framed Raskolnikov and Dark Romance: Vampire in Love PE.
I enjoyed them all, I must be easily pleased!!!

I downloaded and tried the Agatha Christie game but it was really slow and jumpy on my system. Let me know if you all enjoy it and if so I'll give it another go and hope it runs better.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

Can't believe there's ANOTHER super sale today and tomorrow.  I won't be buying anything.

I'm playing Fantasy Mosaics 15: Ancient Land.  should be finished with it either tonight or tomorrow.  Couple levels where you needed to use a hint or power-up because logic didn't work, but for the most part, logic was enough to finish each board.

I finished Dark Canvas: A Murder Exposed Collector's Edition.  Good story, but I found it somewhat easy to guess who done it and why.  Voice overs were good, but somewhat over the top in places.

Gimmick in this game was a camera.  It flashed when you needed to take a picture of something, either a clue or a hidden picture.  The clues went into your journal and were used to solve some of the puzzles.

The hidden pictures went into 'The Attic'.  In the bonus section, you access the attic (the achievements were also kept there) and you used the photos to complete pictures which depicted three different events that happened to past owner of the house.  When the pictures were completed, you could read the local gossip about what people thought had happened.  In the bonus chapter, you learn which version of the gossip was true.

I finally decided on what my monthly challenge is for June.  I want to catch up on the Mystery Case File series.

FudgeChi, I've no idea how long I played but I imagine about an hour, which was 8% of the game.  I had no problems at all playing.  It was neither slow nor jumpy.  The graphics were amazing - not the art style so much but rather how incredibly clear every single scene is.  There's no blurriness or pixelation at all, even when there's animation.  The characters are 2D caricatures but the backgrounds are much more life like, although, as usual for LFA's, nothing compared to today's HOPAs, which are generally rich and sumptuous.  Poirot's home is like they've taken a photo of his apartment block in the TV series.

I'd forgotten how slow LFAs are.  I can't even remember the last time I played one.  And it takes awhile to get accustomed to the mechanics.  But the puzzles really make you think as they're not as easy as they at first appear. They're by no means hard but simply make you think about what you have to do, like how to open a wooden puzzle box, or a locked cupboard with no lock.  And making deductions are quite easy as, when you zoom into a scene to look at something close up, you're told how many things you are to find.  You also have conversation choices as to what Poirot should say/ask and, depending on which you choose, as well as what you have him do, you get Ego points if your actions and conversation choices are the most like what Poirot would do or say.  It really helps if you've seen the TV series (I own the entire collection) and know David Suchet's Poirot's mannerisms and deductive actions.  I got an achievement for making the wrong choice, as, apparently, even Poirot makes mistakes.  I'm very interested to get more into the story, more used to the mechanics, and see where it goes and how it ends, given that it's not the ending in the book.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

I've just received my 7th beta game since the 2 June!  That's 7 in 14 days!  6 from BFG and I've just got another one from Artifex Mundi, the 2nd they've sent me in a couple of months!  I think that makes 11 or 12 so far this year!

I don't have enough time to play them all and then fill out all those surveys, with all the comments I add!

Yesterday I played the latest PuppetShow ... didn't we just get one? ... but I haven't filled out the survey yet.

Tomorrow it's the second Lost Grimoires from Artifex Mundi...
