So sorry Wendy. I'd do what you can to see her while she's still alive.

Well I'm surveying the aftermath of that ice storm and power outages. I started my insurance claim yesterday and the arborist came out this morning. You know I am so hacked off at my neighbour over his &^%*ing tree that I have asked repeatedly for him to take down. He doesn't give a shit because anytime limbs come crashing down its on my property. Yeah I get "well my insurance company says God put the tree there and made it fall that way" uh huh. This will be my third insurance claim because of this farging tree! Right now a large part of the trunk is dangling in the air over my shed. One big limb came down and is covering the shed and has damaged my fence, another is leaning against my bunky. My house is unscathed thankfully. But I have this outbuilding (bunky we call them in cottage country) that is two story and 20x20. I spent a great deal of money 3 years basically rebuilding it (someone could live in it but there is no water, heat and hydro yes) During that remodel is when the second tree limb fell on it and crushed my shed and took part of the roof of the bunky. Knock wood this time there isn't too much damage just some shingle work that needs to be addressed as I don't want water getting in. It is just irritating at his attitude to this. I actually wanted to punch him in the face. I have never hit anyone in my life but I could have given him a smack.
Then to top it off power was on and off on and off and then my furnace stopped working! Premium call out on Good Friday, $150 just to come to the house. The bills have racked up in this first three months with taxes and all, all I can think is I hope the rest of the year treats me right
My last bit of sad news is my dad has really declined and the Alzheimer's is just destroying him. He has had a few violent outburst, scary things for mom. She is putting him on a list for a place but the waiting lists are 2-3 years. So now we have to worry about her safety as well. She's going to speak to the case worker on Mon/Tues. It's just such a sad sad disease.

Latest project. Photo doesn't really do the colours justice. The rings are actually orange.
And here's the boys

lovely project and even lovelier boys!
I'd want to punch your neighbour too and I'm not violent either. He's being so unfair. I had to move last May because of a bullying neighbour.
So sorry to hear about your Dad. It is a really, really sad disease.

I would hit him, I'm from Serbia. We do not tolerate that kind of bull.Especially in our yard. Yesterday was fence , roof of the bunky, what will be next: - one of the "boys". ??? My neighbors are very supportive among themselves and anyone with that attitude, like your neighbor, would not have a chance to go on without a smack. one man in my street cut the tree - that his great-grandfather planted in the yard,(close to the street,) because it started to rot, and the children were playing on the street, but he said he will not let the branches or wood, hurt a child - even if his great-grandfather rolled in his grave. And I'm not violent either, but after several incidents, punch will be relief.

oscar -- Yikes! You certainly have been through it! I'm surprised your insurance company doesn't go after your neighbor. I certainly hope your insurance rates haven't gone up because of the claims. If I remember correctly you live in Canada. In the US, anything hanging over your yard can be cut, as long as it doesn't kill the tree.
Love the project and the picture of your boys! They are so cute.
{{{ oscar}}} I am so sorry about your dad. It IS an awful disease! Your mother's safety must be paramount. If worse comes to worst, he should be taken to the hospital and your mother should refuse to take him home, saying that she can't take care of him anymore. It's far from ideal, but it might be the only choice.

Oscar...Anymore tree branches hanging over into your yard. Like lilyr said here we can cut down tree branches that hang over our property as long as we don't kill the tree. You can bill the neighbor with the cost, but more than likely he won't pay and then you can take him to small claims court. I don't know how it is in Canada. I don't like your neighbor's attitude very much. Is he like that with everything?
Sorry to hear about your father's decline. I hope your mom finds some help soon and doesn't have to wait years.
Pretty looking bracelet and your boys are looking good. Big and healthy looking. How is Eddie doing? I forget the other one's name. Tank isn't it?
Wendy...I hope you can make it out to see your sister before the end.

I'm not terribly good with heights but this tree is at least 50ft high and has basically had a good portion of it break in half. The building in the left corner is two stories. And my shed in the bottom right.

There's the best pic I could find. So it actually doesn't hang over (originally), it towers up and then a good westerly wind takes care of bringing it down on my property. We can and do take down overhanging branches in the great white north (). This is basically a tree in not to good 'a shape all on his property. the fence is just on the other side of the shed.
And yes all my dealings with him over the years have been unpleasant. He's the one that had the drug dealing pigs renting the place until last summer. Despite complainants spanning 8 yrs. And when I wanted to put up a fence 15 years ago he would not pay for half so he got himself a nice fenced in yard for zip and I had to put the fence a few inches over on to my own property. shaking head. I have a chainlink fence all round but also had to put up an additional 20 ft of wood in front of my chain, well I didn't HAVE to but I was sick of looking at the 20 snowmobiles, several fishing huts. piles of dog shit and general garage in the yard, And these are half acre properties so lots of space for garbage. They even had rats apparently it was gross. Complaining to the town just ended up with lots of by law visits but nothing accomplished. Now he has moved in and he has totally renovated the place but it still has piles of his crap everywhere. We'll see how the spring plays out. But you know those houses that have a few kitschy things on the lawn, well that's them, which is fine. But... They have some very nice driftwood pieces, and it would be nice but there is "like" 20 of them all crammed together, but better that than trash.
You have to laugh because it is so stupid but my insurance company were originally not going to remove the tree because it hadn't fallen all the way down yet.
