Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

I am behind on Blue Tea's Dark Parables.  Played a few of Eipix's versions  and found them enjoyable.

I am still playing one of the best top 3 adventure games I have ever played.  The Testament of Sherlock Holmes.  Tirama, I think you said that you have found it for 20 bucks.  It is so worth 20 bucks.  Long with twist and turns in the story, superb voice acting, etc.  One tiny problem on playing on the Xbox 360 is that you use a joystick and it is fiddly on trying to get the exact spot where I am looking at. (like on a jacket...I have to look for clues on it)  I think using a mouse would be more exact.  After I am done I am going to try to find Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper next.

I am enjoying Awakening Kingdoms so much on my laptop that I d/l my old version that was on my desktop.  I was a little worried that I would be missing items, but it seems like it is all there from when I left it last.

Has anyone tried the new Puppetshow?  Curious what you think.  I thought their last one The Price of Immortality was pretty good.

Does anyone know who makes the Spirit of Revenge games so I can update them in the developers list of games?

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

I have Sherlock vs. Jack the Ripper from BFG, also vs. Arsene Lupine, and The Awakened, which I believe are all adventure large file games.  I played a little of The Ripper but I didn't have the patience for it at the time, I was always in the walkthrough, which it includes.  I also have several IHOG Sherlocks.  My favorite is Hound of the Baskervilles.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

Vendel Games makes the Spirit of Revenge series.

I own Sherlock Holmes VS Arsene Lupin and played it once.  The 360 motion makes me queasy so I switched to 3rd party view or whatever they called it and had a horrible time controlling the characters.  Got totally lost at the Tower of London and spent a lot of time referencing a walkthrough I found online.  Towards the end the things you had to do got very convoluted.

If I ever get the urge to try another large file adventure game, I'm going to try and find one of the Agatha Christies.  Being familiar with how the story goes might make it easier for me.

I can't do those 360 games either.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

I just got to the end of the main game in Mysteries of the Past Shadow of the Daemon.  It wasn't an ending, though, more like an intermission.  I would be soooo mad if I had the SE.  I'm going to white out what the main game ending was, if anyone wants to see... she turns around and the bad guy is behind her, end of game....
The game is pretty easy, I played on the no hint, no skip mode and I didn't even have to call in hubby for help.  The jump map still has indicators on it, so that was my hint button.  I like the game and for a change I'm looking forward to the bonus, but that's because it's not a bonus, it's the ending of the game, lol.

Edit:  I just came back and noticed that my 'white out spoiler' didn't take, lol, so I fixed it.  Hope I didn't ruin things for anyone.  Of course if it's from GH you'll be playing the PE.  I got all the way to the end and there was some stupid matching game but if it wasn't done in an incredibly short time it reset, I was playing with no skips, so after 10 minutes or so I just quit the game.  I was at the end anyway.  I did like the game alright, enjoyed myself playing it.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

I finished Dark Parables: The Little Mermaid and the Purple Tide Collector's Edition and thought Eipix did a good job retaining the feel of the series. I really don't understand the complaints that the fragmented objects we assemble are not longer delicate and fragile looking. They stopped being fragile and delicate several games ago when Blue Tea was still making these games.

Included in the collectibles were tributes to Blue Tea and Big Fish, I thought that was a nice touch.  And if you missed finding any of the parables, after you finished the bonus game, you could back and look for them.

The end of the bonus chapter really confused me.  One of these days I want to play all the DP games again and take notes, because characters from previous games have a habit of popping up in the latest one.  This time Pinocchio is back, and there's also references to the Red Riding Hood Sisters and the Frog Prince.

Plan to start Dark Parables: Queen of Sands Collector's Edition tomorrow.

Tirama -- So you think the CEs are worth getting?

I've been enjoying them so far.  I like that Eipix allows you to go back and look for any parables you might have missed.  It really bothers me when a developer makes certain materials unavailable unless you played the game perfectly.  And with this series, there's often information in the bonus chapter that helps with the understanding of the game you just finished or one of the other games in the series.

Thanks Tirama.  I guess I'll be getting the CEs from now on.  And that includes some of the older games.  I haven't felt a need to buy a game immediately upon release.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2016

I finished The Testament of Sherlock Holmes and now disappointed that it is finished. I think I estimated that I played 25+ hours and enjoyed it all.

Did the trial on SH vs. JtR...rare to find a LFA that has a trial and will be getting that one next.

wendy...I find winter to be the best time for doing LFA.  I have much more patience in playing them.  In the summer, there is so much to do that hard to stick to playing.

360 games don't bother me, it is 360 rides that I can't take.  I can't remember the last time I have been on the Tilt a Whirl and rides like that.

Thanks Tirama.  I have updated Vendel games to include Gems of Fury.
