Re: The Chat Lounge

tee -- Good for you for taking care of you!  Ummm....do your bunions bother you?  I have a bunion that I was going to have fixed.  The more I looked into bunion surgery the less I wanted to have it.  My bunion doesn't bother me (except for distorting my shoes).  Recovery can be a long, drawn-out affair.  If it bothers you, that's a different story.

Re: The Chat Lounge

No they don't normally, only occasionally a little aching.  The only reason is because the next toe on my left foot is starting to cross over so it appears they are getting worse.  My mom had both of hers done years and years ago and I know the procedure has changed a lot.  A friend of mine from HS just had one of her's done and she posted before and after pics on Facebook and it was amazing.  She had a little scooter that she put her knee in and scooted around on it (video provided) and was off of it for 4 wks, I believe.  She posted a pic the other day of her feet with her shoes on for the first time.  My mom's dad had them, as well as both of my boys are starting to show signs so it is definitely inherited in my family.  The down time is why I put everything off until now because of needing to be available to do stuff for my folks.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Re: The Chat Lounge

Good luck to anyone with a PowerBall ticket.  If I win I shall pay off everyone's home loans.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Re: The Chat Lounge

ha! I was going to buy powerball but I didn't have time before the drawing. did anyone win it? I read something that from 4pm-7pm they projected that people would spend 1.2 million dollars a minute buying the tickets. Incredible.

I also have a sweet tooth! When I first set out to do this, I had all this motivation because I wanted to slim down for my brother's wedding. Not to mention, the week prior, I had been at his wife's bridal shower and he told my dad I was "stuffing my face" at the buffet table. And I was! There were these homemade cookies and well they were decadent & I couldn't stay away from them. I didn't realize anyone was watching me or that my dear brother would go tell anyone! Thank you mike! Anyways I stuck with this no sugar thing even after the wedding but then the holidays rolled around and well I am a huge pumpkin fan and the next thing I know Im baking pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, eating pumpkin muffins and blueberry muffins and other things I really should stay away from. I am a baked goods whore...sorry if that word offends anyone. So now I am slowly climbing back to my motivated ways trying to detox again and trying to find my way back to the gym as I am paying for a membership...but its not as easy especially when I haven't gained any of it back. I need self control.

Tee I like your picture & my mom had one of those little scooters when she got something done to her foot a couple years ago. She looked so funny rolling around the house but she loved that thing and it helped her a lot! Oh & my brother's wife (it still feels so weird to say that!) did what you are doing when she was 18. I can't wrap my mind around what she must have looked like before but she said its one of the best decisions she ever made because she had lots and lots of back pain and it helped her immensely. Good luck!

Re: The Chat Lounge

Hi Meg, Nice to see all is well with you and your man.
More power to you for taking control of your eating habits.  Sugar and/or baked goods can be such a

teeitup...Good luck with the surgeries.

I bought 2 more powerball tickets last night. I had the machine pick them and knew right away that they probably wouldn't be winners.  The first one had 3 numbers below 10 and the second one had 2 numbers back to back.  Not saying it would be impossible to win, but highly improbable.  At least, I think, someone has won this time and I don't have to buy anymore tickets.

Re: The Chat Lounge

I have been slowly trying to make a perfect spa bath experience at home.  I am using glass decanters to store my bath salts in since they look so much better than plastic zip lock bags and using glass does not matter since we have no kids living here at this time.  The wine bottle I thought was cute was bought at a yard sale for 2.00  was going to try to make a lamp out of it, but instead turned it into a bubble bath container.

My bath salt recipes

1.  1/2 cup baking soda
2. 1/2 cup dry milk
3. 1 cup Epsom salt
4. 1 cup sea salt

1. 2 cups powdered milk
2. 1/2 cup cornstarch
3. 1/2 cup baking soda

I adjust the recipes by doubling or tripling to fit the bottle.

for bath bombs  I have been using this recipe

1.  1 cup baking soda
2.  1/2 cup citric acid
3.  1/2 cup sea salt or Epsom salt
4.  1/2 cup cornstarch
5.  2 tablespoons castor oil
6.  essential oil -- how much is when I decide it starts to smell good about 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon
7.  food or soap coloring  --  how much is when I like the color of it.  6 to 10 drops
8.  spray bottle mixed with distilled water and witch hazel for spritzing

Re: The Chat Lounge

Well, it wasn't me.  And it wasn't the guy in line ahead of hubby who bought 132 tickets, either.  I might know a couple of shuffleboarders in Melbourne, Fl, though, maybe they won.  Oh, well, guess it's off to work in 3 1/2 months, lol.
Hubby just got an old tax bill.  He bought and registered his car in RI years ago when he bought it, and then registered it in Fl. after a few years.  Turns out the town he lives in up here charges an excise tax for vehicles.  His registration for a 2003 is about $40/yr.  The town tax on the car is almost $150/yr.  Does that sound ridiculous to anyone besides us?  Seems almost like they're trying to keep poor people out of town.  I've never heard of a town tax on a vehicle before.  And such a high one?
We've been having nothing but trouble with this car lately, anyway.  He changed the oil a few weeks ago and a sparkplug came out while he was driving, same thing as what happened to me.  The new one wouldn't thread back in and he ended up taking it to a back yard mechanic down the street and had to pay $120.  Yesterday was our first really cold day, when I went to go to the store it wouldn't start.  He went and got a new battery and it still won't start.  He starts working again next Saturday so it needs to be running by then.

Re: The Chat Lounge

First - Meg - you and I have the same pimp. Darnn you baked goods!  And even worse I bake to relax. Don't get me started on bread.

Second - Sun - I'm stealing your recipes, hope that's ok.  And do you ever add essentials to either bath salt recipe? Your spa looks lovely and what a great way to use decanters!  Make a wonderful personal gift as well.

Third - Wendy - we have to pay a provincial license fee each year that seems to rise each year.  A believe the new sticker was just under $100.  I have heard of town taxes in the states but we don't have them here per se, they probably get you in other ways under property taxes.

Thanks for you words about my ankle.  Still is a hindrance especially after doing a 7.5 hr shift at the store yesterday.  That did me no favours.  Although I will say it is a cake walk compared to the damag I did years ago.  That landed me in the hospital for a week, two surgeries a wheelchair for a bit and laid up for 5 months.

We had a ton of snow and Eddie is just loving it.

Re: The Chat Lounge

Oscar...You are welcome to the recipes.  I made 2 edits to the bath bomb one.  It is 2 tablespoons of castor oil, not 3 teaspoons and the spritz bottle is a mixture of witch hazel & distilled water.  Not rubbing alcohol and distilled water.   I add the essential oil in when I take the bath.  In my picture I have lavender and tea tree oil showing.  You can add the essential oil in when you make up the bath salts though.  I like to keep them unscented so I can change them up.

I forgot to mention about your ankle.  I am sorry that it still hurting.  Ankles, knees and fingers take a lot of abuse and it is tough when they hurt.
