Re: The Chat Lounge

Anyone else buy any powerball tickets?  We spent 4 bucks for 2 tickets.  Fun to try.

I have been looking up recipes for pina colada smoothies w/o the rum.  I can't seem to find any that don't include banana or yogurt.  I have a powerful craving for pineapple & coconut and just eating them each raw won't do they must be blended together.

Re: The Chat Lounge

I bought a couple of tickets earlier in the week.  If I'd gone out I might have bought another one or two for today.

Re: The Chat Lounge

So here I am...12:49am...my hubby is in bed already since he works at 7am. I should be sleeping but the last few weeks I have been in extreme amounts of pain and even though its subsided a bit tonight, all the pain pills have caused me to have insomnia. My husband and I went to the snow a few days after Christmas and we were playing in powder in this huge field we found but on the way back to the car, I slipped & fell and landed hard on my left side. I felt like a cartoon character because I literally went up into the air and fell down. It wasn't graceful at all and it hurt like hell. I thought I'd just get a bruise on my lower hip/thigh area because I kind of fell sideways but instead I flared up my back! It was so bad that at first I thought I had another kidney stone. It was that same stabbing, burning pain but then I realized even though the pain was horrific that kidney stones actually hurt worse. I have had them 3 times in 7 years, thanks dad! (it is passed genetically apparently and he gets chronic kidney stones & it seems I got that lucky gene) Anyways I think I am finally on the mend...hopefully.

Nothing in my life is really exciting or new except that my baby brother just got married. Its weird to see him that way with the ring and even weirder to see his wife's name change to my maiden name. I was so excited to get rid of it and she's so excited to get it. Her name is Morgan so when I saw it change on Facebook, it confused me because our names are so similar that I thought it was me! lol The wedding was beautiful. My hubby James was one of my bros groomsmen. James and I are good. We have been married for almost 2 years. Time flies. We adopted a cat named Maddie from a shelter. She is the most spoiled cat ever. I love her to pieces. She is curled up on my feet right now. She is attached to her mommy (me). Follows me around meowing, purring and sleeps with me at night. She's 2 years old but she is so tiny. She is kitten size. The only thing is we found out she has a daughter that is still at the shelter all these months later. I want so bad to adopt her and bring her here but we are only allowed 1 cat. I really love our apartment and don't want to burn our bridges besides our lease is up at the end of March so I am going to try to convince him then lol another cat & see how he feels about setting up the kitchen to have a dishwasher now that I have learned to cook! Practice makes perfect!

The crockpot is the best invention ever! I am actually making beef stew this morning so I should really go to bed soon. I will be getting up when James leaves for work as he always kisses me goodbye in the mornings. I will then get up, have some tea and prep my stew. I have mastered beef stew, coconut chicken curry, whole chicken in the crock pot among others. I have learned to make pie from scratch both an apple and pumpkin for Thanksgiving and last week I made buttermilk biscuits from scratch. Last year sometime we both got fed up with how much sugar we realized was in our diet. I mean 4g of sugar equals 1 teaspoon so I started doing the math and it grossed me out. So we started making everything from scratch, bought everything organic & cut out anything with added sugar. (everything that we could) I ended up losing like 12lbs and James lost about 20lbs but he is more active than I am. I still have more weight to lose  but I feel better eating healthy and I have learned to cook finally!!

Ok I have written too much. I just feel like I am so behind and I started reading old posts. SO sad to hear about Barre.  I am going to try my hardest to stay connected to this site again because I have missed you all and I have wayyyy too much free time during the day. It would be nice to have people to talk to again while I try to play all these games.

xx

Re: The Chat Lounge

Lovely to hear from you again Meg.  So glad everything is ticking along in your life.  And congrats on learning to cook. A great skill and relaxing too boot.  Boo about your fall.  I can commiserate.  We had a thaw here up to 7C and I went out to de-poop.  I was almost done when I guess my foot came down on something wrong and all I felt was a big crunch.  Rolled my ankle.  And I basically collapsed. Hurt like an sob.  I had to crawl across the yard to my deck to pull myself up and hobble in. I couldn't work Sunday, poor thing is bruised and swollen.  I had to break out the cane. Now it snowed quite a bit last night and I can't even clear the driveway. Last year I was on it, this year I'm worried because it's all frozen underneath.  The dogs are loving it though.

Re: The Chat Lounge

aww Im sorry to hear about your ankle! I have done that before as well! I somehow rolled down the stairs coming out of the grocery store a few years ago! It was ridiculous because it was ONE stair...James was visiting at the time and he had NEVER drove over here but of course it was my RIGHT ankle! HA! He had to drive us home and he was freaking out the whole time! He did a good job though! I just remember him driving like SUPER slow & me sitting in the passenger seat freaking out because I thought I broke it haha

I hope it feels better soon! my brother was just in London for work and he was unfamiliar with the cars on the other side of the road. Apparently he stepped out in the roadway to look to see if any cars were coming but looking towards the wrong side and his right foot got ran over LOL he's okay, just turned out it was a huge bruise but I swear that kid can't go a month without some sort of freak accident!

Re: The Chat Lounge

Aww, Meg, you sound so happy and in love, I guess my fears about James being an internet serial killer were unfounded, , I can't believe it's been so long.
Oscar, I'm glad you got the yard de-pooped before you had to crawl across it.  Hope you both heal fast.
My first winter since 97 is going pretty well.  It's only snowed twice, just enough to cover the ground and it was gone in a day.  The temps have been in the 40s mainly, so pretty bearable.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Re: The Chat Lounge

oscar -- Ouch!  That ankle does sound bad.  Heal up and be careful while you're doing it.

meg -- So sorry about your fall too!  Hope your back settles down soon.  Good for you for learning to cook and taking charge of your health!  Maddie sounds like a love.

Re: The Chat Lounge

Hi, Meg ~ so nice to see you again and thanks for catching us up on everything.  Can't believe you all have been married for two years.  I love my crockpot and would you believe I've had the same one from when I first got married back in March 1968.  In fact, I made beef stew yesterday and going to have a bowl of left overs tonight.  Sorry about your back and boo, on getting the kidney stone gene.  I've never had them so don't know what that's like but I have had shingles and that pain was horrible.

Sorry to hear about your ankle, oscar.  I try to be super careful where I walk because when I start to fall, there is no catching myself.  I've made the decision to become less top-heavy, if you know what I mean, and the surgery is schedule for Feb. 1 so just hoping I won't be laid up too long as I will have computer withdrawals.  It's a start for me to get serious about weight loss and meg, I also have decided to start cutting way back on sugars and sweets which is hard when you have a sweet tooth.

tee -- Have you had back aches, too?  Will add you to my prayer list for a good outcome to your surgery.

Re: The Chat Lounge

Thank you, lily.  Yes, awful burning lower back pain at times.  That's one of the reasons I decided to do it now.  When I asked the doctor about pain levels, he said most people are so relieved from the release of neck and shoulder pain they have been experiencing that the pain is not as bad.  Now that mom and dad are gone, I've decided it's time to take care of me.  Next will be bunion surgery.
