Our first snow today. It was only maybe an inch and it's melting already, but I took the dogs out right away so they got to see it. It didn't really impress them since it was only one step up from slush. Snoop handled it better than I thought he would because he hates the cold, and Kelso likes cold and water so he was sniffing around in it and trying to figure out what the little snowballs were that I was tossing at him. I handed him one and he ate it, lol.
Hubby goes back to work Sat. at 11 am, which usually means a 12 hr. shift. He gets paid on Wed. or Thur., but his last paycheck is still at work, we considered his $100 tip on his last day of work as the next week's paycheck, now he will have this one to pick up when he goes in Sat. and then Wed. he will have another, even if its just for the 12 hours Saturday. We saw an ad for a dishwasher that paid $14/hr, but it was far away. He loves the people he works for/with but the 17 miles takes him most of an hour to get there. He'd like to work someplace closer but these people gave him a job(and a raise, already), and he's pretty loyal about that.
I had another go-round with the roommates about the dishes again. Both sinks full of gross, disgusting, bacteria breeding filth. Their family was here for Xmas and eggnog glasses just tossed in the sink half full, plates with food on top of that, and God only know what was under there before all that grossness landed on top of it. I'm not a clean freak, heck, I eat stuff off the floor, so when it disgusts me you know it's disgusting. I said something to the girl, I guess she told the guy he had to do them and left. I didn't know that and after awhile I got out a trash bag and put them in it and hauled it out to the back porch. The entire bag was full, that's how many dirty dishes there were. So the guys got mad at me for doing that, I guess cause Steven was supposed to do them, so I said "Screw you guys" and I hauled the bag back in and piled all the gross dishes in the sinks again, and told them "Okay, now it's back like it was if that's what makes you happy". The freaking dumbasses didn't even realize I did Steven a favor by clearing all those dishes out of the sink, he eventually had to go and take them all back out again before he could wash them. He did some, the girl did some later, and after supper I did the rest of them, just to get them done. I never liked doing dishes when I was younger but now it doesn't bother me at all. I've spent the last 15 years in a brand of RV that doesn't have a full sink, it's narrow and I couldn't lay my dinner plates down flat, had to hold them at an angle to wash them. The last two summers I've spent in a van without a sink. I'm loving washing dishes in a regular double sink. I've never, ever wanted a dishwasher. Hubby always talks about getting one but I always tell him no. If we ever get a house that has one I really doubt I would even use it. I have dogs so my plates are always pretty clean when I go to wash them, I can put my phone on the windowsill and play music or Netflix if I want, and it relaxes me to soak my hands in warm, soapy water. And if I don't feel like doing dishes that evening they're already pretty clean because of the dogs, so I just stack them neatly out of the way and do them in the morning. I didn't even mind washing their dishes, but then they throw dishes with food on them in the sink and then get water on them and it gets all gross again and I won't do their dishes anymore. I'm so tired of explaining to them that if you don't have a garbage disposal, food doesn't go in the sink. We have dogs and a trash can, no reason at all for food to go in the sink. Sorry for all the bitching but I have to vent somewhere and I figure other women will understand, lol.

Hello all, I know I haven't been here much this month. What a crazy month I have had. Whew!
I also hurt my index finger on my dominant hand. It hurts to bend and is swollen. The doctor gave me a antibiotic and it did nothing for my finger (it stills hurts and is swollen, but it did wonders for my sinuses) also took a xray of finger and no broken bones or hairline fractures. Going to get blood work done in the beginning of the year to check uric acid levels to see if it is gout.
We had a nice Christmas...it was a summertime Christmas with temps in the 60s all that week. I didn't miss the snow at all. My son gave me a xbox 360 game of Sherlock Holmes: The Testament of Sherlock Holmes. I've been playing each night for a little bit. I'm much more comfortable with a mouse than a xbox controller, but I'm doing pretty good getting around in it.
Wendy...That's gross and bad feng shui about your roommates leaving all those dirty dishes and food in the sink. I bet when they were done the energy level in the room picked up considerably. I find washing dishes by hand relaxing especially if I'm wearing my headphones listening to my music.
Noise cancelling headphones were a gift from my husband. Now I can play a game on my laptop while he is watching tv and I can turn up the sound up on the game so I can hear it and I won't be distracted on what is going on the tv.

I had a great big long post written (what else is new, lol) but I lost it somewhere. Sorry about the finger, I find it really awkward to use the other one.

I'd been wanting to go to the bar, since it's right next door. Literally. It's back door opens onto a shared area with our back yard. But hubby brought home a 6 pack of Heineken so we stayed put. Roommates of course managed to get into a fight and hubby had some stuff that needed to be done in the basement so I just stayed in my room with my beer, put some good music videos on YouTube, and danced around and sang by myself. I had the perfect buzz going, feeling nice but nowhere near drunk. It sounds kind of pathetic but I really enjoyed myself. And of course I got some computer game playing done, too.

I am back from the doctor. Tests show that I have a infection. My index finger still hurts and the middle finger joint is swollen and I can't bend it very much. He ruled out gout and RA. Next step he wants me to do is see a hand specialist. He gave me an antibiotic on my first visit and it didn't do much, so he wants me to try a different antibiotic, which I don't think I will.

Sunshine, I'm sorry your finger still hurts!
Hopefully, when you see the hand specialist, it'll just be a simple infection that will clear up quickly and easily with the correct antibiotics.
Good luck!

sunshinej -- I'm sure your finger (now plural) hurt, but at least you know what is wrong. And a simple infection is much better than gout or RA. Did he culture it? (to find out what antibiotic to use)? Hope it gets cleared up soon.
