Hubby had his last day of work last night. Friday night the person who booked the place gave out tips to the workers, hubby got $100 so it's almost like a paycheck. Since they're basically just open W-Su and Xmas and New Years are falling right in the middle I guess they're just closing. They're going to give him what work they can, even doing other stuff, they really want to keep him. They said they'll have work again for him Jan. 2 so it's kinda nice, he gets a 10 day vacation. When he gets his paychecks he just signs them and gives them to me, I can tell he's all proud of himself, and he should be, he's doing great. I don't need (or particularly want) him to have a full time job, just go out there and do some kind of work and contribute to the household a little. At least now he's making enough to pay the rent. I've loved having him out of the house, when he comes home he has new things to talk about, it's so much better.
I got a set of speakers for the desktop with my Best Buy Bucks and they still won't work. It tells me the audio services aren't started but when I try to start then it gives me a message about a duplicate endpoint. I've done most of the stuff I could find suggested for the problem but nothing is solving it. I have to hook up the monitor to my laptop if I want to play a game with sound.

This has been the year of replacing things for us. Started by replacing the 19 year old air conditioner, which meant replacing the water heater (building codes had changed). Then the dishwasher needed to be replaced.
Next was finally replacing the gutters that had been damaged by Hurricane Wilma. Got that done just in time. Although the hurricane and rainy season were officially over, it monsooned shortly after the new gutters were in. Car battery died on Saturday. DH installed new one Sunday.
In March 2013, we had bought a 60 inch Samsung Smart TV. Good thing we were smart enough to buy the extended warrantee. The TV started acting up the beginning of Dec. It would playing for a couple of minutes and then shut down.
Naturally it was behaving itself when the tech guy came. But he checked the mother board and said it was bad in 3 places, so a new one would have to be ordered. Got a call a couple of days later that the part was on backorder and wouldn't be in until Dec 14.
Well, yesterday we checked with the warrantee company and they can't get the part, so they issued us a store credit for almost the entire cost of the TV! We're out $60, plus the sales tax, delivery and set up fee and the cost of the remaining time on the warrantee but we did have the use of the TV for over 2.5 years.
So we went down to the store and picked out a LG 55 inch Smart 3D OLED 4K Ultra HDTV With Wi-Fi, which did cost more than the store credit, even before adding in the taxes, delivery and extended warrantee but we've got 36 months to pay off, not that I plan to take that long. It arrives the Monday after Christmas. Plus we still have the original TV which nobody has asked us to return.

Ack! sometime those warranties are a good thing. I debated about a smart tv on and off. My tv works just fine except for the inputs. Only one of them works. There was a apparently an issue with this particular Samsung and as it is a 52 or something its a little beyond me to load it in the car to take it in for repair. A work around would be to get a receiver but meh for now the one input has my pvr so I'm set. If I want to watch a movie or play one of my game systems I have a smaller tv in the other room with no input issues. When they both give up the ghost I'll go for a smart tv although by then there will be something else that you telepathically speak to I'm sure.
Gone are the days Wendy when you just plugged the speakers into the green jack! It should be so easy. Is your virus software causing the problem?

I think you have to get the extended warranty nowadays. I don't think they build TV's that can be repaired if they stop working.

Hubby got the speakers working somehow, yeah!!! I don't care so much about the other games, but I have to have sound with my HOPAs. Especially the Xmas ones.
I buy warranties for some things. I didn't bother with my laptop, it was only $300 and I figured if it died after the original year was up I'd just as soon get a new one. For something more expensive I'd get the warranty. I did look at the 4K Ultra at Best Buy, it was incredibly sharp but I don't know if I'd like it that sharp all the time, lol. Since I only paid $159 for my 40" I didn't get a warranty. It's smart enough with the Roku or Chromecast for what we need right now and I figure by the time we need another the price will have dropped to where I can afford one. It's great you got to upgrade, Tirama, the TV picked a good time of year to die, with all the sales going on.
I've been trying to upgrade to Win 10 (hoping that would solve the speaker problem) and it's not working, the computer just hangs there right after I start the process. I've been researching the problem but not came up with a good solution yet.

THIS IS FOR THE FIRST PEAGE IN THIS TREAT
My cramps stops when I start to drink mineral water with extra magnesium- well that magnesium help me with other things too- I'm less tired, less nervous and I have more energy.
about insomnia: If you wake up and can't sleep- you can dance... ( -one life- who care about sleeping, put some music and dance, make cookies, or sing in front of the mirror) whatever, stay positive- everything goes from head- think how happy and HAPPY you are.
but if you think- I can't sleep I'll be tired tomorrow, everything hurts- than you are done. Finish.End. -NO GOOD.
START TO DANCE- it's Christmas ( in your country)

I get leg cramps in the summer when I'm working because I have to bend and stretch so much. I read about quinine water so I got some of that. It didn't work quite as quickly as I'd read, but it did seem to stop them after a few minutes. I'll have to look into mineral water this spring.
Guess we won't be having a white Christmas, in fact we're supposed to have a record high. I'm in shorts today. I can't believe my first Xmas up north since 97 and it seems like I could still be in Florida.

Shooting off all those guns, those guys were having a blast. Funny video, Mila. I think I'd probably like your celebration of Jesus better than ours, it's just way too commercial.

I'll pass on the guns, what goes up, must come down.
