Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Tirama, which CEs do you want to get?

I haven't played many CEs lately but I could tell you whether I've played them and what I thought, or if I've bought them as CEs or as SEs and why, or if I plan on getting them as CEs.

One game I can tell you about is The Curio Society: Eclipse Over Mersina CE.  I got the CE and have no regrets as I didn't think it would be worth the CE when I got it (with a free coupon), but I bought the CE for particular reasons, and the bonus chapter is 1:30 hours, so long, but it isn't worth the CE.  I'd recommend waiting for the SE.  The main game for me was 3:45 hours.  However, every time you turned around in this game there was a MG!  There were 34 in the MG and 14 in the BG !!!!!!!!  Some of them were easy peasy and shouldn't have been called a MG (for example, put a missing piece back on something and then switch the 2 heads) but some were really hard.  I even have 3 classed as HARD and underlined numerous times!  LOL.  The problem with the CE is that there are hardly any extras - no replayable HOPs or MGs, for example, which would've been great with so many of them, and some of them were FUN!  There are 21 HOPs, and they ranged from easy to hard.  The only other extras were collecting 9 dossiers (cards - all in your face except the last one) and coins (82, only in the MG) which are all found in zoom scenes, so really easy, and the usual extras like music, as well as 29 achievements.  But you use the coins to purchase relics in the Relic Room and I loved that.  It isn't worth the CE but I loved the animation of the relics, as well as the info you can read about them, as they're funny.

I've also played Eventide: Slavic Fable CE (MG 4:30 hrs, BG 1:00 hr).  Unfortunately, I didn't write down what I thought about the game.  I wrote down every single HOP (18, easy to hard, 1 very hard) and MG (30, easy to medium-hard, with only 2 hard) but didn't make any note of what I thought.  I did make notes about the gameplay, however, and I'll add them below.  It has all the usual extras, but no repayable MGs, only most of the HOPs.  It also has 2 lots of collectibles - 30 bestiary cards about Slavic mythic creatures (interesting) and 30 ethereal flowers, which could be anywhere, scenes and zoom scenes, and weren't in every scene, sometimes none, sometimes more than one - that I remember was fun).  But I'm sure I really liked it. I just can't remember the BG being anything special.  Whether I thought the CE was worth it, though, I didn't say.  Grrrrr...  Sorry.  But I obviously thought it was worth the CE when I got it.

These are the notes I jotted down:

1.    I did something out of order near the end (the game isn't linear) and I only found out that Grandma was missing after I'd already found her!  LOL.
2.    I loved the music.
3.    Make sure you open everything!!!!  Every single drawer, for example.
4.    And make sure you click on everything!!!!  As things are hidden EVERYWHERE!
5.    And sometimes places you couldn't go before open up so check EVERYWHERE, ALL THE TIME!
6.    I loved the beautiful graphics! which are like artwork, ie. beautiful paintings.
7.    I loved the ambient sounds, especially wearing headphones!
8.    However, there was one pet hate of mine - 5 times, for no reason whatsoever, I had to backtrack to replay a HOP.  I either stumbled upon them when I was wandering around, wondering what to do next, or I checked what to do next in the SG when I was lost and found that I had to go back and replay a HOP, or I learned by the end to go back and check the HOPs.

Sorry I can't say definitively what I thought of the game ...

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I haven't had much time to play many CEs but I'm playing some M3s and TMs while I watch TV at night.

ATM I'm playing:

Gnomes Garden 2
Christmas Wonderland 6
The Treasures of Montezuma 5

want to play:

Secret of the Pendulum (such a basic game but interesting storyline, very different but oh so basic gameplay, and I ran out of demo time and wanted to keep playing, all of which shows I'm either losing it or it's an interesting game)

and am going to get:

The Last Dream PE from GameHouse as GH has the PE (CE) and BFG only has the SV (formerly known as SE).  The PE at GH has a bonus chapter and all the usual extras like replayable MGs and HOPs, although the SV at BFG has the achievements and collectibles (although not as many as GH's PE as you have the extras from the bonus chapter).

I've also been sent 2 betas to play:

Lost Grimoires: Stolen Kingdom  from  Artifex Mundi  (I'm on their beta testing list)
Pirate Chronicles  from  BFG

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I know I want to get these CE's

Phantasmat: Behind the Mask
Final Cut: Fade to Black
Christmas Stories: Puss in Boots
Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst Unlocked
Dark Parables: Goldilocks and the Fallen Star
Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst Unlocked
European Mystery: Flowers of Death

So I need to decide on 3 more.

Has anybody played any of the Dark Romance CE's?

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I have not.  I do have Heart of the Beast in SE.

I think I'll look(as well) at :
Phantasmat: Behind the Mask
Final Cut: Fade to Black
Dark Parables: Goldilocks and the Fallen Star
plus Surface Return to Another World.

I have two credits so this should just cost $14 in cash.  I will wait til Monday as well and use a couple of PCCs too.

Now I'm thinking I may get Evantide as a CE, stusue's post makes is sound like a good one.  Maybe pair it with Immortal Love.
I have all the other ones on your list T, unplayed, with the exception of Puss in Boots.

Plus I think I will have to have a Dark Parables month.  if I purchase this one I will have four of them unplayed.

Me too.  But I really need to have a Mystery Tracker's month first.  Got 4 of those waiting to be played and it won't be long before another one is released.

Tirama, of those you've listed, I have them all as CEs (but I imagine you meant MCF: Key to Ravenhearst instead of MCF: Ravenhearst Unlocked twice?).

If you were thinking of Dark Romance: The Swan Sonata CE, I got it as an SE as the extras weren't worth getting the CE.  However, I have the other 2 Dark Romances as CEs:  Vampire in Love and Heart of the Beast.

Other CEs that I already have (and I always demo and then read every review I can find on every site I can find before getting a CE) are:

Incredible Dracula: Chasing Love CE
Weather Lord: Following the Princess CE
Haunted Legends: The Secret of Life CE
Lost Lands: The Golden Curse CE
Haunted Hotel: The X CE

I haven't as yet demoed, but hope to before Monday:

Immortal Love: Letter From the Past CE
Spirit of Revenge: Gem Fury CE

Oscar, I only got Surface: Return to Another World as an SE, although I can't remember why.  I have some idea that the bonus chapter was really short.  But whatever the reason, I obviously didn't think it was worth getting the CE.  Of the other 8 Surface games, I got 5 as CEs and 3 as SEs.

Oscar and Tirama, if either of you decide to have a particular game month, let me know and I'll join in.

Oops, I listed that one twice.  I already have Key to Ravenhearst, so it looks like I need to find 4 more games.
