Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Anki -- Hope you had a wonderful vacation and Sweden is a bit warmer than when you left.

I've only played the demos (several different computers) of SVETLOGRAD but I always enjoyed it.  Sometimes I'd get distracted looking at the trees and all my balls would roll into the trap.  I keep thinking I should buy it.  I have BEYOND LIGHT ADVENT but, of course, haven't even tried it as yet.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I started Danse Macabre: The Last Adagio Collector's Edition Monday night.  I had hoped to finish it today, but we've had storms all day.  Also spent some time getting ready just in case Tropical Storm (possibly Hurricane) Erika decides to visit us.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I've been trying to play different HOPAs but none of them really interest me.   I've been trying to play Unfinished Tales Illicit Love.  A couples baby got taken and they just stand there until I come along and then they ask me to find the baby while they continue to stand there.  And I'm Thumbelina so I'm going to assume I'm quite a bit smaller than them.  And the baby was in the very next scene.  They couldn't walk into the next scene?  Aye, the dingo ate my baby...
I'm also playing Enchantia Wrath of the Phoenix Queen.  I like this one a bit better.  It's by Blue Tea and has the pretty FRAGs where ;you're making an object, not like the newer ones where you keep making tokens.  The people of the world have become quite bad so the Phoenix Queen has been sent to burn down the world so it can start anew with good people.  We have to stop her, although the way the game presents it, the rebirth of the world is supposed to happen so to me, it's sort of like we're trying to stop the death and resurection of Jesus.  Not the greatest comparison, but it seems like we're trying to prevent the natural cycle just so we won't be burned to ashes.  What about the greater good?
I've also been playing Gunspell.  It's a pretty blatant copy of Puzzle Quest.  There's a lot about it I don't like and/or understand, so right now I much prefer Puzzle Quest.  You only have so many slots for items and it's very, very expensive to buy new slots, so you end up selling most of the items you win in battle.  I don't understand the different slots, some you can only put a certain type of thing in but the type isn't really made clear.  I've sold stuff so I could pick up other stuff but it won't pick it up so it must need a slot for a different type item but I don't know what/where/how????   All my weapons and magic totally suck compared to the bosses, they can use their weapon to hit me for a couple hundred points but mine only hits for 20????  Complete lack of instructions and the forum is no use, either.  My internet sucks here so I can't really look it up, either.  I have to just keep replaying the bad guys until I get lucky with the skull drops.
I just started 12 Labors of Hercules Super pack, it's hard to get 3 star time already.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I think I'm burnt out, I'm not finding anything particularly exciting game wise. I'm just moving to the bonus on Final Cut Fame Fatale, which was alright just nothing new.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I was going towait until the Labor Day weekend to get some games if there was a BOGO, but decided to taker advantage of the sale running today and Friday.

If I waited for the BOGO and got 10 games, they would cost me a total of $69.99.   If I get 10 games now, they will cost me $58.89.    I will possibly miss out on 10 bonus punches, but since I sometimes struggle to find games to get with the pcc's, I think I'd rather save $10 instead of maybe getting the extra punches.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I might just wait for the next bonus punch day.  I have a coupon good for a CE and 2 PCCs.  That would give me a full card.  There really aren't that many CEs that I want -- except for the new HE.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Even when I get 10 games tomorrow, I'll have only acquired 32 games this year.  And 11 of those were obtained with free game coupons.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Tirama -- You got me curious so I looked up my purchases for August.  I bought 26 games!  But they only cost me $13.60 (not counting the cost of GCCs).  And there were a number of CEs in there too.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Yay, I can't believe  Mystery Tales: Alaskan Wild CE  by Domini Games  is here!

I betaed this CE back at the beginning of July and have been waiting with bated breath ever since.  It's great!  Here are some of the highlights in my notes:

Graphics:

I loved the Northern Lights and loved clicking on things in the scene.  One example - in the first scene, I clicked on a fir tree and some snow fell off, then more fell off when I clicked on it again, then, when I clicked on it a third time, the whole tree moves to dislodge the remaining snow.

There's a snow meter to the left of the screen.  It's snowing - well, it is Alaska - and you can choose whether to have just a few flakes, right through a light snowfall, heavier snowfall, even heavier snowfall, to a blizzard!  You just slide the meter up and down until you have as much snow as you want in the outdoor scenes.  I loved it and played the demo during a blizzard.  I've never come across that before!

Collectibles:

There are 18 figurines in both scenes and zooms.

Something else original - you use a camera to photograph 28 wildlife you come across for your new book.  That was fun and different.

Conversations:

Great voiceovers and perfect lip syncing!  You have conversation choices.  And they wrote "should've" for "should have".  Yay, correct spelling!!!!

Amulet:

You use animal totems to change into that animal to accomplish something.

Map:

Super colourful!  Not so much a map as the buildings themselves.  Locations are flying eagles.  Loved it!

Inventory Items:

Try to use an incorret inventory item and you get the comment: "That was my bad."

Minigames:

Pretty easy - eg. fish on a boat - you just have to click until they're each the correct colour - would have been better had you had to swap them or at least change it and not the same thing each time.

Morphing Objects (in a HOP):

"Find and collect all the morphing items ... to unlock the list of hidden objects" - there were 6 and they weren't hard.

Extras:

Can't say as that wasn't available in the beta. Unless the extras are super disappointing I'll be getting the CE.

The game has:

  33  locations
  23  minigames
  13  HOPs
118  zoom zones
  13  characters

I LOVED the beta and will DEFINITELY be getting the CE (unless there's an obvious lack of extras, of course).
