Right now we have just arrived to Gran Canaria, Puerto de Mogan, same place as last year. It¨s 08.15 PM and it's 27 degrees Celsius 
.
We have rented an apartment of the owner and we have fast Internet. After unpacking, the first thing we did was hooking up with our laptops and the Ipad...

-my garden is dying of temperature that in this month already amounts to about 40 degrees Celsius - every day, and nights are hot to....

Anki -- Enjoy your vacation! And the fast Internet. Is 27C warmer or cooler than you'd have at home?
mila -- Those flowers are lovely. Maybe it's easier to keep flowers on a balcony watered. I can't believe how really, really hot the summer has been in Europe! And it seems to be all over Europe too. I have a friend who lives in Vienna. Not only has it been very warm (35C - 39C) but it's been really humid too. Even Berlin has been hot.

lilyr, this summer has been one of the coldest summers in about 100 years in Sweden! In Lapland for example it has been so cold it couldn¨t even be called summer. They went from spring to autumn directly!!!
But just a couple of days before we went here, it became warm in Sweden too with about 25C on the days but in the evenings only about12-15C, not like here. And the water is much warmer here too, about 26C. The day temperature here is about 32C.

Wow Anki! So the heat in most of Europe never made it to Sweden. I bet my friend in Vienna would swap in an instant!

Anki...Have fun on your vacation and enjoy some warmth.
Mila...Those flowers do look nice though and the tree is so green. My tree the leaves are curled up because it has been so dry this month and my neighbor's tree is already losing its leaves. There has been barely any rain at all this month so I know what you mean about your garden.

Went to the beach last night. Sat and enjoyed looking out over the water until the flies came out and were biting me pretty hard. I was swatting them away with my shoe until one time I felt something on my leg and went to swat it away and it was a huge spider (about the size of a quarter) that was it, I had enough and after screaming we packed up and left.

Going to the beach sounds like fun. The flies not so much. If there is some sort of biting insect within 10 miles it will usually find me.

I heard of a help with mosquitoes which is a unused, unscented dryer sheet somewhere on your person and that is supposed to keep the mosquitoes away. With the flies I didn't have anything, so I just wetted my legs and covered them in sand which helped somewhat, but not enough.
