Well, next week marks a year since I first got here to help Mum, apart from the month or so spent at home over Christmas. A year! Can you believe it? That's a year without gaming, or very few. I keep buying games hoping that I'll get to play them one day. It also means a year away from my home and my life in Germany.
But my mum has another b'day in 3 weeks! When I arrived here a year ago Mum was in tears, terrified, thinking she wouldn't make it to her big b'day bash up in the mountains with the entire family and I was the only one who knew. I think Mum's and my bonding really began then. She's now certain she'll make this one. But the way she's going I wouldn't be surprised if she makes the next one! (Well, I really doubt it but who knows?)
But Mum seems to be quite worried now about something happening to me as she knows that if it weren't for me she'd be in a nursing home, as no one else in the family could be here for her, not 24/7 like I am. And I am getting sicker and sicker. But I plan on being here until the bitter end, when I'll have the rest of my life to recover. Mum needs me and that's all that matters.

Wow stusue! I knew you'd been there quite a while but I didn't think you were coming up on a year! I'm glad you and your mom have had this time together. I'm worried about you though. What would help you? If it was possible for an aide or nurse to be with your mom 24 hours a day for a few days and you could get away would that help? I know that in the past you've said it takes quite a while to recover, but would a short break help? I worry about you. Prayers continue for you and your mom.

stusue, you are to be commended for your devotion to your mom. These precious times you are having will be with you and you only, forever!! Just hoping you don't create a life-threatening issue for you. Do you have doctors there you go to for monitoring or meds or whatever treatment you need? You need to keep your strength up, too. Take some time for your games as they are mental stress relievers.

Very chuffed Stusue. As always warm thoughts and a big hug for you.
Here is a fairly recent pic of Eddie.

He is just too cute. Hugable and loveable. He looks a lot like your other dog.

Eddie IS cute oscar! It's hard to tell from this picture, but is he still small enough to carry around? (I think so because of the cord behind him.)

Stusue,, I was just wondering lately how long you'd been there, thought it was quite awhile, but a year, wow. Your mum is so lucky to have you there. My sis is pretty bad off and my niece seems to be crumbling under the stress. My niece has always been very unconfident and high strung, it doesn't sound like she's grown out of it. I really wish I could be there to help. It sounds like my other sis is helping as best she can, she lives about an hour away and is in her 70s but very good shape, but my niece isn't always telling her what's going on. My husband is slowly freaking out with the Florida heat, a hard of hearing neighbor who is always blasting his TV, the overpowering smell of cat urine in our yard (the neighborhood cats all congregate there and pee all over), and the constant crowing of roosters, day and night. I was starting to go crazy there myself. We have to find someplace else to live.
Anyway...Eddie is so freakin' adorable. I would pick him up and hug him, and pet him, and never let him go. He's growing up so fast....
