Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Tirama...Yes, I have all the Puppetshow games.  The last one I did before this was Return to Joyville.  This game doesn't seem to be a continuation, but a stand alone game.  At least the storyline does not contain any references to Felicity (?) I think that is what her name is.  It is a completely different story.  It is so good that I wished I got the CE.

Felicia was her name.   I've played the one after Return to Joyville.  Can't remember if the reason I stopped buying this series was disappointment in that game or that the next one, Lighning Strikes, appeared to be the same storyline as before just with a new bad guy.

I've have to demo and.or look at the walkthoughs before I bought anymore ERS games.  There was just something about their interactive/progressive HO's that annoyed me.

I haven't seen any interactive/progressive HO scenes or silhouette ones.  I have seen list type with some interaction and find a X number or a theme ex. acorns or sport related items.  I have a feeling that there is a another kind in the beginning that I just can't remember.

I think there was a time they were doing progressive silhouette HO's and it really annoyed me when in one of them I was able to get the final item and still have more hidden objects to find.  In progressives, the object that goes into your inventory should be the last item in the progression, IMO.

Some developers do interactive really well, and then others reuse the same interactions (slice the apple is a favorite) over and over.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I'm halfway through my replay of Moonfell Wood.  In Dreamless Castle, the Fairy Queen was teh narrator and she had an older woman's voice which did really match with her appearance.

But in Moonfell Wood, the narrator Fairy Queen voice is now Dana Knightstone's voice!  I really don'tike it when a developer uses the same man or woman for teh leading characters in all their games.

Looks like I might have been a bit too hasty.  After playing the next chapter, I think the narrator if the Witch of the Woods.  Still don't like using Dana Knightstone to narrate.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I finished Puppetshow: The Price of Immortality.  I liked the story all the way to the end and the gameplay was very good too.  The puzzles were a mixed bag of difficulty and the HO scenes were varied.  I mentioned the list type with some interaction, finding a X amount of a theme and also finding matching pairs was the one I couldn't remember before.

The ending wasn't as abrupt as I feared it would be.  It ended where I thought it would.  I was just having fun enjoying the game that I wanted it to go on.

I started on Cadenza: Kiss of Death for my next game.  It looks like it will be another game with a good story.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I've completed 75 levels of Mosaic: Game of Gods.  There's 6 groups of 25 levles, and the 25th level is a cirular puzzle where the pieces you have to put in remain stationary but you have to rotate the circular board to dertermine where they go.  Interesting twist, but I wouldn't want to play all the levels that way.

I finished replaying Moonfell, and will be starting The Goblin Kingdom tonight.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I quit buying Puppetshow games but for some reason I demoed this most recent one and really liked it so I have the SE of it.  Maybe I should play it next and see if it can pull me out of my slump.
I'm still playing European Mystery Face of Envy on my tablet and still not liking it.  I finished the main game of Unicorn Castle but don't plan on playing the bonus.  I started Runefall, it's M3 but it's weird, the board is bigger than the screen and it moves in the direction of the match you make (kind of)  and you have to find special squares in different parts of it.  You collect resources to buy your powerups.  I only just started it so I don't know if I like it or not yet.  I"m lollygagging around with Kiss of Death, the gameplay seems to easy, I'm not really enjoying it that much.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I've completed 2 of the 4 chapters of Goblin Kingdom.  Replaying this series is really making me aware just how much HOPA's have changed.

First 2 in the series weren't in widescreen.  Goblin Kingdom has widescreen, but there's no voice overs except for the narrator (Dana Knightstone, again, wonder who she's supposed to be in this one).  There's no map, never mind the jump map that is now a must have for many people.

If these games were released today, most people would turn their noses up at them.  Yet I'm enjoying them more this time around, maybe because the characters are old friends.

But it's easy to see why some developers are turning to making mobile devices games.  Those customers are probably less demanding and teh games can be made for much less.
