Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

They had an announcent in the GH forum
I’m really sorry to inform you that the Discount Deals will be taken offline over the course of the coming two weeks. At this stage there is no definitive date as yet. There have been a number of complaints lately that the games have not been replaced frequently enough or you did not like the selection of games we were offering.

In order to focus on more pressing issues and fixing other things that are affecting our subscribers, we have made the decision to remove this section so our technicians are freed up to look into other areas that need fixing and improving

My reply
You gave me my laugh for the day, anyway. You're taking away discount deals because the customers complained that it was the same games offered for the last 6 months. Don't you think that's a valid complaint? Maybe you could try changing the offerings. You're taking them away so your technicians are free to look into other areas... doesn't seem like it needs a technician to offer a different game every week, and if that is their job they deserve to be fired, that's about as bogus an excuse as I've ever heard. Either speak the truth or don't give any explanation at all, just an announcement.

The explanation he gave doesn't make any sense, just say you're not offering them anymore and just leave it at that.  Technicians in charge of the discount games... yeah, right.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

wendy...Gamehouse is shooting themselves in the foot with that move.  People (well, me) love getting deals and paying discounted prices.  That is why I look to see what the daily deal is every day at Big Fish.

I finished the bonus to F.A.C.E.S.  It was a good bonus game, but not necessary to the main game.  I also finished Surface: Game of Gods.  It moved along at a fast pace and had some fun parts in it.  Now i can go back to playing Angelica Weaver.  I like it and it is certainly more challenging that Surface GoG was.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Update on games played over the last couple of months with reviews from my schedule:

March, 2015 (2)
Treasures of Mystery Island (3/14) ~ Fun game, multiple locations~find items to use in other scenes + find items for various occupations @ end of each scene.  Enjoyed this one a lot, esp finding stuff to use in another location.
Mystery Trackers: Black Isle CE (3/26) ~ Pretty good game, nice HOS, fun puzzles, found 49/50 owls, 15/21 achievements, lots of B/F, used SG some, not as much fun as others.  If I remember, this is the one with the yeti and the different shops/cafe, you had to go in and out of.  Just wasn't impelled to play non-stop.

April, 2015 (3)
The Dark Hills of Cherai:Strange but interesting game. 3 cousins travel to Magician's castle to recover treasures of Cherai (India).  Different HOS, good puzzles.  Loved the scenery and using the meeting place wheel.
J. Patterson's WMC: Twice in a Blue Moon:#3 in series ~ Murder investigation of copycat killer (old crimes), 9 chpts, HOG w/tiny items, good puzzles but difficult maze puzzles, skipped last one. I think the last one was the one that you had to use a flashlight and it was just too frustrating and not worth the time to do it.
Hidden Secrets: The Nightmare:Woman has strange memories after accident-husband Tom, the culprit.  Crude HOS w/clues but puzzles were best part of game, very challenging.  I loved the puzzles ~ had to use WT on matchsticks and a couple of others.

Since Cadenza: Music, Betrayal and Death CE is one of my top 5 favorite games, decided to get Cadenza: The Kiss of Death CE and started it last night. Love that it still has a jazz background and decided not to play on the novice level but next one ~ just don't think I'm a good enough player to go for hardest level.

What levels do you all play on ~ don't know that anyone ever says the level they play.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I know I really liked Treasures of Mystery Island but I don't now which one I played.  I have others in the series but haven't played them.
I think I will get the new Cadenza with my CE coupon this weekend.  I can get Puppetshow and Dead Reckoning with PCCs.
I like having a custom mode.  I don't like sparkles on inventory items but I do like them on HOs because I never think to check the spot again once I"ve done it so if they have repeating ones I'm apt to miss them.  I don't like to play without a skip just in case and I like the hint button to refill as rapidly as possible, when I need it I don't want to sit around waiting for it to fill.
I'm slowly playing a Mystery Castle Mirror's Secret.  It doesn't really have a plot, a girl has been abducted into a mirror.  There's only one scene for each mirror shard so no map needed.  It's alright but boring at the same time.  I really need a story with my game to make me happy.
Sounds like the 2nd True Fear might be out soon, according to their FB page, something like Goblinz Games.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I liked those Treasue Island ones too.  I think I've played 2 or 3.  I'm saving that new Cadenza.  A definite dessert game for me.  It better not let me down!

I generally play on the advanced or custom.  On custom I usually only ensure I can skip a puzzle, but now a days even if you play on hard if you hit a wall they do tell you you can change level mid game.  A couple of games recently I played on the hardest but only because there was very little difference between mid and hard and they weren't hard.  All that being said I don't play these to bang my head against a wall or prove anything so middle of the road (advanced) is just fine by me.  I think the levels are deceiving as in most cases hard is just removing skip and hint options, the puzzles aren't changing.  I always turn all the sparkles off but find you still get them sometimes.

Lol the game I'm playing now, Fallen Flower of Evil I chose casual and the sparkles on the HOs are the shapes of bats.  I'm glad I got to see them I thought it was quite clever .considering the story.

I like that ERS gives you that opportunity to up the puzzle a little in some of their games.  Has anyone played the Puppetshow Lightning one? It gave you a choice of two art styles.  I played steampunk.  Anyone play the other?

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I always play on easy.  Not that I'm getting many games done.   I just like to relax and not have to think too hard. RL gives me enough of that.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I played some of TGT, Reflections of Life, it was awfully girly but I kinda liked it.  I might get the SE when it comes out.
I'm having my usual quandry when it comes to using my CE coupon.  I was going to get Cadenza but there are a lot of low reviews from people who liked the first game but didn't like the new one.  I'm also considering the new Myths, the complaints that people have with that one are mostly too many puzzles, but I like puzzles so that's a plus for me.  The extras seem pretty similar.  I have until tomorrow t decide.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I was demoing on my PC and the cursor in Cadenza went all wonky on me at the very end of the first HO scene.  It didn't want to do the last few actions, I finally got out of there somehow, exited the game, restarted it, switched to system cursor and it was even worse!  I'll have to try the demo on my laptop, it seems to be a better machine.  I also found Hidden Expedition Smithsonian Castle that I don't own, I really thought I had it but can't find it in Purchase History so I'll be using a PCC on that one.
ETA:  Breezed right through the HO on my laptop.  I went ahead and got it, I don't want to be in angst all weekend.  I do want to encourage MadHead, also.
ETA:  Just realized I have another CE coupon I have to use by the end of the month, I want to use it this week so I can actually get the game and none of the games Sun posted for me sound that exciting so I will probably use it on Myths, I'll just wait until last minute hoping for a Bonus Punch day.  I have 4 punches right now and 3 PCCs I'd like to use, but they can also wait, I just won't be able to download the games until at least late June.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

There have been so many games out lately that appealed to me, and now someone has sent me 3 PCC codes, can you even imagine that, three of them; and the expiration dates are from mid-May to early June so I will be able to get everything my little heart desires.  Just getting one is cause for celebration, but 3....  I just  people who only buy CEs.
