Re: The Chat Lounge

I have, she is spending all her time with her Mum and unfortunately she (Stusue) is not feeling too great herself. Probably doing way too much with not enough rest.

Where will that leave you once the season is over Wendy? And I do hope you are NOT going to support him.

Re: The Chat Lounge

Thanks oscar.  The last post I remember from stusue said that.  I know she hadn't recovered from the last trip to Australia when she had to go back.  And she had pretty horrible connections to get there.

Re: The Chat Lounge

Hi everyone!  I've got a few minutes to catch up with you guys!

Thanks so much for thinking of me!

Oscar was right, I'm not well at all and have been with Mum 24/7 for the past 5 weeks since I've been here, starting at 8 am when I get up to give her her tablets until she goes to bed at night, never leaving the apartment.  Thank heavens she has a carer come in Monday-Friday to shower her, dress her, get her breakfast, then get her settled for the day (Mum manages to shower herself on the weekend but I have to dry her back). However, for someone who was given days - if she were really lucky maybe a couple of weeks - to live 6 weeks ago, my mum's doing remarkably well.  The way she's going she's going to be around for a while yet.  She's even started pottering around, sorting things out and throwing a lot of stuff out!  She tries to find things to do and loves it when we give her little jobs.  She's going stir crazy, needing oxygen 24/7 and not having the energy to leave the apartment.

Not sure how long I'm going to last, though.

But I'm so lucky I've got this time with her.

I hope Mum goes to bed soon as I'm exhausted but have to get her to bed before I can go myself.

Hope you're all okay and life's treating you all well!

ETA:  Yay, Mum's got up to go to bed!  So I'll be able to go to bed myself soon once she's settled.

Re: The Chat Lounge

stusue <--- nice gentle caring supportive hugs.  I'm so sorry you had to go back before you had recovered from the first visit.  And I'm sorry this one is taking such a toll on you.  But I am very glad that you are getting to spend time with your mother.  Feel better soon.  Know that we're thinking about you and I'm praying for you.

Re: The Chat Lounge

stusue - looking after the terminally ill can be so exhausting.  DH and I took care of his mother and barely made it through a week on our own before the arrangements for home hospice care complete with nurses round the clock kicked in.  Is it possible for a nurse to be available for more hours?

DH had his visit with the hematlogist yesterday.  His white blood cell count is now completey normal, red blood count dropped slightly, but the doctor said he could go 6 weeks before another visit.

We had very bad thunderstorms this morning.  Tiffany was a basket case.  The thundershirt didn't help, sitting in the carriage didn't soothe her, the combination of the two didn't work either.  And more storms are forecast for later today.

Re: The Chat Lounge

The storms have missed us, we're just getting an occasional shower but we did put the awning up because it was getting pretty windy.  Oops, just looked at radar, we might get a little red before it all goes by.

I took 2nd place in a tournament on Monday/Tuesday because I would have had to go back Wednesday to play for 1st and I needed to sub in a league so I would be eligible for the league tournament yesterday.  So i get over to the tournament (in town)  and the radiator fan on the car won't shut off.  This happened a couple weeks ago but when hubby took it to the mechanic it wouldn't do it again.  The car was in an accident when it wasn't insured so it has front end damage and the hood is held down with a chain and bungee cords.  I got all that stuff off but still couldn't open it, guess I should have made double sure I knew how to do it.  I couldn't just let the fan go all day, it would have run down the battery, so I had to turn around and go home so hubby could fix it and then it was too late to get in the tournament.  There's only one more left this season, it's in Clearwater and you have to go through all the Tampa rush hour traffic to get there so it takes almost 2 hours so I don't know if I will go or not.  I had a very good season considering I only got to play for 6 weeks.
Sorry it's so rough on you, SueStu.  My mom was going to do hospice but then decided to stay in the hospital and she only lasted a few more days so we didn't have to go through very much, not like you and Tirama.  My mom wanted to go so I don't think she really tried to prolong it.  It's nice she's pottering around, I think it gives a person comfort to know their affairs are all settled, and who gets what.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Tirama and Wendy,

You all probably got the storms we had on Wed. night.  It was 80 earlier in the day then the cold front started moving in.  These were taken of a town just west of us and a mobile home park was destroyed.  When the weatherman said the wall cloud was only about 3 miles from me, I headed for the bathtub just in case, cause you never know when one of the funnels is gonna dip out of the clouds.  Tulsa rarely gets a direct hit since there are so many tall buildings but the outlying areas get hit from time to time.  It was definitely scary and I was surprised it happened so early this year.  I do live in tornado alley so we see alot of these type clouds but it pays to be vigilant.

Re: The Chat Lounge

Oscar,

Here is a recent picture of the boys on their way to the vet to get 2nd round of shots and microchips.  They've each gained about a pound and finally seem to be over all the tummy troubles.  Just getting into everything but so fun to watch.  They are extremely bonded and when I let them out in the morning, they even both squat at exactly the same time.  Love them to pieces.

Re: The Chat Lounge

Those pictures are so beautiful, Tee.  Broken Arrow was mentioned, I played there with a carnival once.  I grew up at the northern end of tornado alley but I've never actually seen one in person.

I'm finally getting my GH coupons, I used this month's on a Little Shop super pack, 6 games worth.  I also want to get the Northern Tales pack with 4 games in it eventually.
