Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Well, considering all I could do in January was lie back in my recliner in front of the TV with my laptop on my lap (I know, poor me, huh?), I actually managed to play some games!  Only golf solitaire games, M3s, etc, as I wasn't up to playing anything taxing, like HOPAs, but at least I was able to play something!

So, the games I remember playing:

12 Labours of Hercules III - Girl Power
Delicious - Emily's New Beginning
Fantasy Mosaics 6
Gardens Inc. 3 - Bridal Pursuit - PE
Lapland Solitaire
Legend of Maya
Queen's Garden
Regency Solitaire
Solitaire Game Christmas
The Far Kingdoms - Elements

Then, wonder of all wonders, last Friday I was actually able to play a HOPA!  I can't remember the last time I was up to concentrating long enough to play one.

I played:

Mystery Tales: The Twilight World CE

Of all the games I played, those I'd recommend are:

Mystery Tales: The Twilight World -  but definitely only the SE  -  really good bonus chapter (over an hour, great additional story, really good quality) but it definitely isn't worth double the money, even on sale, as the other bonuses (which were all secret until you'd finished the game) aren't worth it and the main game ends very conclusively

Queen's Garden  -  really fun, incrementally more challenging, garden-building M3 with some little minigames to break up the M3 boards, and the garden choices are actually okay and it's fun to build, unlike the room choices you have in Sea of Lies: Burning Coast, which are all imho really old fashioned and ugly and I prefer the broken furniture you start with, as at least it's plain and not over the top

Regency Solitaire  -  I really loved this golf solitaire game as the story seemed more important than the actual gameplay and everything you do has something to do with the story and all the powerups are things you buy to upgrade your ballroom - it's set around 1814 and the story is just like one you'd find in Pride and Prejudice or Emma, a Regency romance story, and I really liked it and wanted to help Bella get her Henry, the Earl

Legend of Maya  -  I didn't like this M3 at first as it was too simple but then it got more and more challenging and I loved building the village, set on a hillside from the water to the mountaintop, where all the little people wandered around, even through the tunnels and up and down the stairs - and you can continue playing once you've finished the story - I'm currently on Level 256 - and there are lots of achievements

Gardens Inc. 3  -  if you have the first 2 and like this sort of TM  (clearing, building, collecting)

12 Labours of Hercules 3: Girl Power -  if you have the first 2 and like this sort of TM  (clearing, building, collecting)

Delicious - Emily's New Beginning  -  if you like this sort of TM  (serving people in restaurants)

All the others are fun games to play but they're either too simple and/or there's nothing special about them.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

In today's 2FOR1 BOGOF I got 2 games:

Sea of Lies 3: Burning Coast CE
Shiver 4: The Lily's Requiem CE

I also got the DD:

Undiscovered

I can't wait to play Shiver as I loved the way it started!  You're just thrown into the game before the main game page even comes up, with someone calling out for help and lots of doors, which I loved, even though I read at least one reviewer who said that they weren't going to get the game as you were just thrown into it with no backstory and no idea what to do - well, I think that was kind of the point.  So, I'm going to play the first 3 first, which would be my 3 oldies for the month!  I played the first one ages ago but want to play it again before I play the other 3.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Once I realized that this was the 1st weekend CE BOGO in quite some time, I decided to get some games after all.

I looked through my purchase history and noticed that I was missing a Mystery Trackers and and a Surface, so I got  Mystery Trackers: Blackrow's Secret Collector's Edition and Surface: Game of Gods Collector's Edition.

Tirama, I thought the same - and wondered when the next one would be as we have them so rarely now - so got the only 2 I wanted.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Wendy  -  FYI  -  the code  FAVORITE  seems to always work over at GameHouse to give you a 50% discount, but I think you can only use it once per day.  They've also finally changed their discount games.  So, using the code, I got:

Twilight City - Love as a Cure  (59 cents)  -  thought I'd try a few mins and ended up playing for hours before I finally managed to yank myself away to go to bed.

as well as:

Legend of Maya   ($2.99)
Moviewood    ($2.99)  -  not yet at BFG

You absolutely have to demo Moviewood!  It's so simple and yet totally addictive.  I downloaded it one afternoon and, as the games open when you download them from GH, thought I'd just play for a few mins to try it.  2.5 hours later I had to drag myself away to go get something to eat as I was about to pass out from starvation!!!!  It was always, just one more movie, just one more movie...

It's a game with lots of different quests on a movie set (called Moviewood) and you play HOSs to get money to purchase other sets to make more movies, etc.  There's one HOS for each set you build and, even though each time you play that HOS (depending on which sets you're using for which movie), the objects you have to find change, or their placement changes, or the scene is reversed so that what was on the left is now on the right, or the objects are reversed, or you have to search using a torch, etc, so it never gets boring.  Also, the HOSs are either by list or silhouette.

For each movie you may have to first buy a script, then you hire the actors, then you play the HOSs in the movie, then you have to create a poster for opening night (my fav part of the game) which are displayed on your movie set and you can view them whenever you want.  It's a really fun game and the director and the actors are based on real people with their pictures being a distortion of photos of the real actors and the names are also corrupted, so you know who the real actor is by the name as well as recognising them in their photos.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I finished Mystery Trackers: Raincliff's Phantoms CE.  It had a interesting bit of gameplay.  You have a temperature gauge and when you get too cold you'll need to find a morphing item to warm up again.  Also, it had frog collectable in various costumes.  The game itself was pretty good and long with various types of puzzles to do.  I started on the last Mystery Trackers game Blackrow's Secret.   Wow, I did 7 Mystery Trackers games in a row.  I'm glad i stuck with it as the series is really good.  There is a new beta coming out Mystery Trackers: Nightsville Horror.

After I am done with Blackrow's Secret I have my next series all lined up.  Drawn.   At least there is only 3 of them this time around.

I have been debating on getting the newest Shiver game as a CE.

I enjoyed the Shiver games as well.  I think I'm going to have to amass a little list and see what ones I'm going to pick up.  Whatever fits into the budget.

The second Mystery Trackers is on the horizon for me.

I don't know why getting those two extra punches mattered so much.  Now I have to figure out how to fill the the rest of the card so those two punches don't go towaste.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I finished Strange Cases: The Tarot Card Mystery and although it was slow to start for me, it got better as it went along.  I just thought it was an average game and glad it was short.  Started Lost in the City last night and that is one strange game, all gritty dark and a lot of message reading.  After lilyr mentioned that it was a long game, I took a look at the WT and it is 40 chapters long and I thought, OMG, what have I got myself into.  The chapters are really short though as there is not that much to do in each chapter and it is pretty easy so gonna keep on to see where the story goes.

All this talk about Mystery Trackers makes me want to try one of those since I haven't played any.  Looked at my schedule and I think I upgraded one of them during a sale and they ended up giving my money back and disabling the game.  I was able to go ahead and play one of my other games that I did that on but it was on the old computer so imagine playing the CE of the MT one is out.
