Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Wendy, this is my 3rd time to cancel. I did it about 18 mos ago but rejoined for the MCF and then about a year ago but I have no will power when it comes to BOGO's, all those series that need to be continued.  I got so many of the $2.99 games when that benefit first started that I hardly even look at the DD any more.  One thing I was wondering about though, if you are no longer a member and you play a game that has a glitch or is unplayable (only happened a couple times to me), will they help you or are you

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Wendy, thanks so much for the code!

I'm with Oscar - I got Lost Lands!

I  was choosing between Phantasmat, Love Chronicles and Lost Lands.

I'd already demoed Love Chronicles and my comment was - CE but check out what SE has first - as I think the scrolls and collectible puzzles pieces must also be in the SE as they form part of the gameplay. So the only real extra would be the 25 morphing objects (which I loved as they appeared and then disappeared and you could only click on them when they were there, which is much harder than just clicking on any object in the scene that could possibly morph) and which gave you greeting cards for every 5 you collected.  It would then depend on the bonus chapter and whether that was long and as good as the main game.

So this morning I demoed Phantasmat.  I loved the first one but haven't as yet played the second.  I had high expectations and thought I'd love it.  However, apart from the collectibles (all same object but in different forms/locations, which I loved, and which were quite hard to find), I wasn't overly impressed.  I think it all started in the very first scene, when you had to exit the car.  I was looking everywhere for a tyre iron or brick or something super heavy (to break the windscreen) but no, you needed to use the ** high-heeled shoe ** !!!!  I don't expect or even want reality in games but that was so ridiculous that it just put me off the whole game and I just went through the motions for the 30 mins that I played the demo.  So that will go in the try-again-later-as-I was-put-off-the-game list to see if I feel differently about it later.  It was also a double-click-touch game, which annoys me, although I discovered accidentally that instead of double clicking I could just swipe to zoom in or to move to another scene, and I loved that so much that I liked the game a whole lot more.

So that left Lost Lands to demo and it was  at first sight.  I loved the first one and didn't want to finish playing the demo of this one.  There aren't heaps of extras (ie. no replayable HOPs (pity) or souvenir room) but you can replay the minigames (21) and it has HEAPS of collectibles and you have to collect all of 2 of the 3 to be able to play the 3 bonus puzzles in the Extras.  There are 20 pages of the Forgotten Lands book to collect (easy to find but good background info), and you have to find all 35 very hard to spot morphing objects (beyond objects - all different), and all 35 super hard to spot ghost objects (35 parts of a machine you have to collect throughout the game) to play 2 of the bonus puzzles. To be able to play the 3rd bonus puzzle you have to get all 20 achievements, 1 of which is playing the main game and bonus without using any hints at all!!!!  It certainly gives you an incentive to get all the achivements.

Lost Lands also has one thing I've never spotted before - each of the 3 difficulty levels can be customised!!!!! and you can change it at any time.  So you don't need a Custom Mode when you can customise every mode.  And I loved the graphics (very clear and lots of added colour), the music (very atmospheric), the voiceovers and the lip-syncing (both very well done), and the one HOP I did.  It was like a whole heap of inventory puzzles - ie. you have to find one object and then use it like an inventory object on another object to get something.  I know it sounds like a normal progressive HOP but it seemed different to me - not like a HOP at all but rather like using a whole lot of inventory objects in the one zoom-in scene.  And it contained a little jigsaw puzzle, for which I got an achievement for completing a puzzle in under 1 minute.  So one of the 20 achievements needed to play one of the bonus puzzles.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I picked Lost Lands, too.  I didn't demo it and now Stusue has me all excited!!!
Tee, I've never had any trouble getting games refunded while I wasn't a member, they treat me just like I was one.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

After yesterday's surprise free game, I did a search for BFG Promos and here is what I found. Free game, code Freegame86966 good thru 1/25/15. Free Mystery Case Files: Ravenhurst, code Mobfreeraven good thru 1/19/15. Free Puppetshow-Mystery of Joyville or Phantasmat, Code Bigfishcasino good thru 1/19/15. Spirt of Revenge: Cursed Castle Collectors Edition and Love Chronicles:Salvation or Mysteries of The Mind:Coma for $2.99, code Revenge good thru 1/19/15. Free Awakening:The Dreamless Castle, Code Mobfreeawakening good thru 1/18/15. Hope this helps some of you. Happy Gaming!

tHEse codes were on my Facebook, the FREEGAME one is the one we already used.  Someone said the Spirit of Revenge didn't work, I'm thinking it might be for SE instead of CE.  I already have all of them.
ETA:  The REVENGE one you have to buy the CE of Spirits and you get a SE for $2.99, not such a great deal.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Hey all. I decied to pop back in. Things have been super crazy for me lately with work and what not. Things have been going good though. Haven't had too much time to play games. There have been a few games I've gotten and started but haven't been able to finish. Though I am working on Revived Legends Titan's Revenge. And I did buy Lost Lands The Four Horsemen thanks to that free code that Wendy posted. Thanks so much for that. I hope to play that tomorrow. I'm a bit behind in my work for this week so I have to work some today, depending on when I finish what needs done I may get a chance to finish Titan's Curse tonight. At least the main game.

Wendy - what is your Facebook group that you mentioned?

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Nice to see you misscatlady.  Sorry things are so busy in RL.

I need help with Crime Solitaire2  please (if anyone remembers).  I need to get into Kowalski's apt.  There's a red pin.  I got a key that is labelled with Kowalski's apt number from the lockers in the police station.  I've tried dragging that on the red pin but it just flies back into my inventory.  I looked in the BFG forums but couldn't find a solution there either.  Does anyone remember?

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I'm playing Crime Soli... oops, guess it's Crime Line, I'm no help.
The FB group I'm in is called Pond Friends.  I actually joined before the flush.  It was the only place we could post links.  Spenny is in there, don't know if any remember the name, but she's really funny.  She lives in England and she's single so we get some beautiful scenic pictures and she goes out on dates so we get the scoop on those, lol.  Every now and then we get into it over religion, sin, stuff like that, that we couldn't talk about on BFG.  Even though some of us have verrrrrry different opinions we're always civil and nobody really fights.  AvgSpock has a forum, Timebomb has a forum, Valdy has a forum, Govols has a forum, Freyasmom has a forum, I think that's all I know about.  Well there were a few forums before the flush, too.  I just don't like to go that many places.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Thanks Wendy. I only know of the Pond Friends forum. That's the only one I know about other than this one. I couldn't find a Facebook group for them though.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

The Pond Friends forum and the FaceBook group are totally different.  The FB group was started well before the forums were closed.    If you want to check any of them out I can give you the address.  The rest of them seem more social, they don't really talk about the games as much as we do here, although most of them have a review thread.  There's a Diving Bell Pub, I think that's for adventure games.  There were a few of them started before the Big Flush,  there was some big unrest over the pricing they had for overseas people, I know quite a few left the pond over that.  That was right around the time I started at BFG.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I started Shadows Price for our Sins.  It is a good Halloween game and quite engrossing.  There are a lot of HO scenes but they're interactive. There is no wt but imo not necessary, the map is quite good. And you just have to keep looking around if the map says there is something there.  I'm probably about 2/3rds of the way thru.   Playing some Gizmo Universe in between.  The time constraint on some of these is a challenge!
