Oh wow Tirama, that's scary! I hope you have a good security system.

All the buglaries have occurred during daylight hours when the homeowners were out. Items stolen included laptops, small flat-screen tv's (thief ignored larger one), cash, jewelry. I have a monitored alarm system, and since the buglars have been gaining access through glass sliding doors, I've covered mine with my hurricane shutters, which has a key lock on the inside.

Tirama, you must live in a very posh neighbourhood to have so many burglaries occur there. Do you have some sort of surveillance system in your house, like surveillance cameras? In the last place that I lived in, we had cameras and we had ADT stickers everywhere on our windows and sliding doors. My DH said that it would deter robbers from entering the home if they saw those stickers and knew that the home had surveillance. Since you have a monitored alarm system, that must mean you have the stickers on your windows and doors?

No, it's not posh. The posh communities are gated. It's an adult (over 55) community, many of the residents live alone and are frequently out at doctor's appointments. Have no idea why we've been targeted, lived here 15 years, never had a crime wave before.
We have a metal ADT sign stuck in the ground.

Yikes! So sorry Tirama. I just saw this thread. It almost sounds as if it could be kids (mid to late teens). I know that there are a lot miore daytime burglaries than there used to be. Now that there are so many 2 career families or single parent families. Or people living alone.
Every once in a while I'll get a 'phone call with no one on the other end. i wonder if that's someone checking to see if the house is empty.

So this isn't a burglary bu this is the poop in my neighbourhood this week. Yesterday my houseguest, who is a nosy neighbour just like everyone else! lol she even took pictures. She came home and the police were across the street, three cars worth. They were there for several hours, all thru dinner prep and my kitchen faces the front of the house. The at around 2:15am, as I was going to bed I notice the police arrive once again along with the two cars of the residents across the street and one other vehicle. I had noted when I got home that the house was dark. My assumption was these people were evicted. (it is a rental home) The people briefly went in the house and left shortly there after with the police escort.
Today when she got home she says look outside. And there is FOUR cop cars. I being nosy decided to take the garbage out. Of course all the neighbours lookee louing. My immediate neighbour and some of his friends are heading to their garage and one said to me you better go inside for your own safety they've got their guns out. I heard a gun cock. One had an assault rifle and the rest had their hand guns drawn walking to the yard.
These officers circled the house, three ended up on the porch all with weapons drawn peering in the windows. You would have thought Charles Manson was in the house.

This was all in aid of what you ask? Wait for it, to remove the residents dogs from the property. two cops had gone in, the resident pulls up. Obviously they were having some issue getting the dogs to come out. ( I was more annoyed that she had left them there for about 24 hours alone) Calls the dog and he comes running out (a choc lab). The second one was nowhere to be seen. I'm not really sure what happened with him, I trust she left with him as well. My tax money hard at work, four cops to remove 2 medium size dogs. I can understand you want to be prepared as you don't know the demeanor of the dogs, but really a shotgun? and 3 handguns at the ready? Why the hell she hadnt done something for the poor things the night before I'll never know.
The dogs and the three kids are who I feel sorry for. I don't get it. Both adults in the house work full time and they drive decent autos and they don't pay their rent uprooting these poor kids. Apparently the dad came and took them the day before. According to my neighbours. I almost said to them isn't it nice they arent here for your house, lol they usually are. They rent as well and are crap neighbours. Only this year have they started maintaining the property, I beleive the town got on them. They had come knocking on my door asking about them.
Ok Rant Over.

Burglary #9 today. Cops are there now.
