Wendy!

Hey you!!  How are you doing today???

Just paying bills today and hoping to get my son's pickup sold.  GRRRRR   HATE bill day AND trying to sell this stupid truck combined is ruining my day.

Glad you like the reviews.  I figure, if I'm going to bore someone to death with my long-winded orations, they might as well be ..... interesting (?)

I actually download demos from GH and iWin and play the demos again if I can't remember if I liked a game or not.  Sometimes, I don't post a review - although for the life of me I never remember WHY I didn't.   Old age.  The mind is a terrible thing to lose.

I LOVE Far Kingdoms.  Although I haven't played them.  OCD.  I keep getting new games but never have the time to play anything (RL, Freya, more RL, MORE Freya, housework, WAY TOO MUCH Freya).  Then I end up having several in a series and have to play the oldest ones first.   But, when is there time????   I already don't sleep (maybe an hour a night) and there's STILL no time!   I need another me .... THAT one can do the crummy stuff and leave ME to play games all the time!

I'm currently trying to finish Gemsweeper.  I totally got into this genre of game WITH this one.  Before this,  I just didn't "get it.   It's a great learning game.

Well, sigh, back to RL and those dang bills.  At this rate, Black Friday at PetsMart is going to happen without me!

Have a lovely day/evening/night!

I love FAIRWAY SOLITAIRE too.  Unfortunately it isn't offered any more.  Juat for the heck of it I did play FAIRWAY F2P and completed it with all Achievements without spending a single cent!   It was a bit of a grind to have to keep replaying courses to earn enought to buy stuff in the store but I did it!

Hi lilyr!

Fairway Solitaire isn't offered anymore??   I remember I got it.  LOVED IT.  Finished it.  I was so hooked I would be up at all hours of the night playing it.   Then, I saw the CE and got that - boy, what a disappointment.  Same game.  Even all my progress was there.  What?!?!?!?   I certainly didn't want a game that already had my progress and I dislike replaying games.  It's an anal OCD thing.   I just refuse to play a F2P game.  On "GP" (General Principle).  Why scam people into using their hard-earned money for in-game extras???  That's just not right. IMO.  For whatever MO is worth ... which is probably not much.

Anyway, thanks for writing.  Hope to see you again here real soon!

Have a lovely day/evening/night!

Re: Demo Reviews

Queen's Garden

I really, really, really like this game. Yes, just a tad shy of "loving" it but you'll find out why .... soon. So, 4.99999 stars for me. lol

The graphics are great! Colors are bright. Easy to tell what each item is.  Big pictures for old eyes like mine - lol.   Music is nice.  Sound effects, such as butterflies wings fluttering ... wow!  There are no voice overs but very little to ready anyway.

This is a typical match 3 game, much like "Cropbusters". You have to match 3 or more like items. You DO get bonuses in the form of exploding gems and glowing items. Use these to create a small to massive explosion (depending on the type of bonus) which will remove a whole area of tiles/items, including boxes, stone tiles and frozen tiles. There are also butterflies to free by moving them to the bottom of the game board.

It IS very relaxing, especially on the "untimed" mode. I enjoy saving up my coins to make purchases for the Queen's garden.  You get a choice of 3 items and can upgrade from the lowest value to the highest value - it's all your taste so nothing is wrong! And the Queen ALWAYS compliments your choices .

Now, the ONLY reason I'm not giving this a solid 5-star rating is because ..... there really are no instructions. Guess what you have to do.  For players like myself, who love match 3 games, this really isn't an issue. We can ultimately figure what the extra bonuses you get (hammer, woodpecker, etc) will do. But, a beginner? Not so much.

For this reason, I would not recommend it for a beginner into this genre of game play. With 100 levels to play, I enjoy being the Queen's Gardener and this will definitely be a purchase for me.

 ENJOY!

Re: Demo Reviews

Mana Crusher

Wow.  Really not my cup of tea.

The story line is very weak.  After you choose your wizard, you appear in court and are banned from the planet to an obscure tiny planet out in the universe. Here, you are met by another wizard. The "keeper", so to speak, I guess.  He takes you through what I suppose is a poor tutorial.  And you're off.

The graphics are good.  One of the 2 good features of this game. The music was fine. No real sound effects to speak of. No voice overs.

The 2nd feature I liked about the game is that in the "options", you can unclick the "click and drag" feature. This is good for people like me who can't do the whole dragging things around a game board.

The gist of the game is this ..... You play against an opponent.  You move your wizard around the game board ON tiles (potion vials, frozen ice (?), plants) and make as large a path as you can.  Then, it's your opponent's turn.  The goal is for you to make more points than your opponent.

I don't understand the "points" system.  I don't understand the "star" grading system . None of that was explained.  You DO level up. You also have an opportunity to win more wizard cards by playing a "lottery" wheel. I guess they're good for collecting but if you choose a different wizard, it appears you have to start from level 1 again.  Makes no sense to me.

I did NOT finish the demo because it was just not an enjoyable game for me. But, I feel I played long enough (30 minutes) to provide a fair review.  It is not a purchase for me, nor will I recommend it as it is just too confusing and has no entertainment value at all.

Have a lovely day..

No decent tutorial.  No real entertainment value.  Collect "wizard cards" but to what purpose other than to have them?  Not for me.  Boring and confusing with little ... like almost NO instructions.

Re: Demo Reviews

Great Adventures:  Lost in Mountains

I'm not even sure what kind of game to call this ... a SIM????

After entering your profile, click "play" and you will be able to choose 1 of 3 female characters and 1 of 3 male characters. Each character has different traits so choose .... wisely (?).

The story line is interesting. Dad is a famous Professor and was at a convention but the hard snowfall has required everyone to be evacuated.  He called you and said to get there asap because he was in trouble. The phone went dead .....you could not reach him again! OH NO! Off you go, with ..... your counterpart (partner? husband? ???? ) in the snow ..... where everyone else is LEAVING! Hmmmm. Then, you FALL off the mountain in your van but land ON YOUR TIRES in a parking spot!!! O-k-a-y then.

The graphics are really, really good for this type of game. The music was soothing and relaxing, which I guess is needed because the game play started to stress me out.   There are limited sound effects (fridge opening, music playing) and while there are no voice overs, there is a dog that runs everywhere (including providing you with hints that you DON'T need to use your "bones" for) who barks all the time. I would have loved to have named this little guy.

The gist of the game appears to be that you go around the entire area looking for dad, among other things. Pick up bones scattered about to earn a hint. Pick up random items because you may need them later (i.e. batteries, glue, etc.). Make sure to find your way to various key locations to eat, rest, and have fun. It's important to keep those "qualities" at a high percentage. Told you this isn't my kind of game.

While I enjoyed playing the game, it just wasn't for me. I get all wonky-eyed and dizzy-headed moving characters from room to room and back and forth again and again. And, truly frustrated when I can't find something or it's within easy reach but the door is locked and I haven't got a key!

For these reasons, this will not be a purchase for me. However, I highly recommend this game for everyone. It has a lot of entertainment value, is fairly slow-moving (due to all the walking around you do) and who doesn't want to rescue poor dear dad???

Join ..... the dog (?) and head to the snowy mountains for what appears to be a great mystery and adventure!

 ENJOY!

If I had more patience (it IS a virtue I don't possess), this would probably be a fun-ish type of game for me.  But, with MY old legs and knee problems?  I was getting tired and sore and achy and fussy because I was tired and achy just watching my characters do all that to-ing and fro-ing.  Not a purchase for me ... but you should give the demo a try.

Re: Demo Reviews

Fishdom:  Depths of Time CE

Under the Sea ...... Under the Sea ........  Ooops - caught me singing!

I have been waiting and waiting for this game to be released and, guess what? Today it was!!!!

The graphics are amazing! With every Fishdom game that comes out the graphics just keep getting better and better. Music is the same Fishdom background music we enjoy and the sound effects (even bubbles popping) are ..... great!

This is a match 3 game to conquer all match 3 games. You purchase fish, decor and comfort items (feeders, light, etc.) with which to decorate one of many aquariums. There are backgrounds as well. And, go ahead and snap a picture of your fishies' home to keep in your photo album! YAY!    In "Options", you can opt for a "relaxed" mode and even opt to have (or NOT to have) bombs and oil. You'll see what those are when YOU play the demo!

I LOVE how the little fishies now interact with you more. REALLY talk to you - I could sooooo have a conversation! You get to choose if your fish is male or female.   You also get to choose a name from the long list of names available or give it your own unique name. How cool is that!!!!!

The CE Bling is disappointing. According to the "extras" section, it's just wallpaper, screensavers and concept art or maybe one is music.  I'm not interested in those things. But, it's a great add-on for those who are.   The game professes 250 levels! Woooo-Hoooo!   But, if the game description says 150 "bonus" levels, does that mean I only get those 150 IF I buy the CE? If so, it's not right to show that in the game so HUGE and BIG and EXCITING without indicating it's part of the "extras".

So, as much as I love this game. As much as I LOVE my little fishies, I'll probably wait for the SE before making a decision which to purchase. Sigh. So sad.

This game would be awesome for gamers of every level and children too! My grandkids love playing all the Fishdom games, as do I!

Come along Under The Sea and join me building beautiful aquariums for the most fun fish in the sea!

 ENJOY!
,,

Obviously a real keeper for me!  BUT, (isn't there ALWAYS a little butt?), whether or not to get the CE will depend on several factors:  WILL there be an SE released?  Do I REALLY need to pay extra money for the 150 "bonus" levels?  If so, is it worth it to me to pay for a CE version when I've never, ever, ever finished all the levels in all the other Fishdom games I own????  Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Re: Demo Reviews

Sinister City ----- Vampires in Sinister City???? Say it Ain't So!!!

This is definitely the strangest game I've ever played. And, yet, it DID have some ...... intriguing parts.

Apparently, your character, a young man, has gone to get a hotel room outside Sinister City, where he has heard that his bride has been taken. The hotel clerk, before offering him even a room for the night, has him doing all sorts of errands, quests, what-have-you. Including, if you can really believe it, finding parts for the hypnosis machine that will take him to another astral realm where he will find his true love. HAH! Strangely enough, the young man is NOT surprised one ... little .... bit that he was just told the oldest and most powerful VAMPIRE in Sinister City's daughter is your true love. OR that the hotel clerk is the oldest living VAMPIRE HUNTER! Where was all THIS info in the game description.

Graphics. How can I explain. For the GAME itself, graphics were ok. Music was a bit ..... strange and twangy. Voice overs did NOT match the lip syncing at all which made it very disconcerting to watch. No real sound effects.

There are 2 levels of difficulty - casual and advanced. Everything you have in "casual" is removed in "advanced". But, if the "casual" I played was any indication, THAT mode of difficulty will be challenge enough even for the most experienced player.

There was mention of a map, but I never got close to getting it. There was just soooooo much to do beforehand.  Find me this, do that for me, go here, go there.  It NEVER ended and it generally didn't add anything to the game play.  No journal/diary. The hint button took forever and 10 months of Sundays to recharge. Which isn't so good since you have to use it quite a bit as the game has no sense of direction ..... at all. So, either you walk around aimlessly through the game ... a LOT .... or you take a "game break" and just sit and twiddle your thumbs, play with the dog, take a nap, have a cup of coffee or take a bathroom break while reading the current best seller . By the time you've finished ALL THAT - the hint button SHOULD be recharged.

Needless to say, there is absolutely NO direction here. No sparkles unless you happen to click on where they are supposed to be, such as a closet. If your cursor turns red, GO THERE! It's a HOG area! I figured that out myself - ahem ahem.

HOGs - Once you find them (they do not sparkle or yell "boo") you have to click on EVERYTHING because the items you really need and are looking for (pieces of a mirror or a clock that you have to repair, etc.) are also hidden in the various HOGs and are never quite in sight. Unfortunately, some of the HOG items you are looking for are also NOT in plain sight - nor are the hidden items a different colored word.   And, you don't get to really LOOK into the closet, etc. for a "zoom" look to find these things. You kind of are on the outside looking in from ... afar so things can be a tad .... on the tiny side.

So, basically, point and click at ...... EVERYTHING!  Oh, yes, the main items you are looking for (pieces of a mirror, etc.) are scattered in several HOG areas, not just in one. You need a map. You need a guide. You need ... oh forget it ..... the hotel clerk would probably send you out to look for it anyway.

The mini games are fun and relatively easy.  HOGs outweigh the mini game ratio by a LOT. Oh, yes, there are NO instructions for the mini games, but there IS a "skip" button. Go figure.

I love a game that has no hand-holding and very few instructions. I like the challenge and have purchased a game before that had a major glitch ---- there were no instructions or clues or sparkles. I LOVED IT!  This game, however, being so different from today's HOGs, needs "some" instruction. Also, less hokeyness and more intelligent conversation.

This just isn't a purchase for me.  Oh, don't get me wrong. It MIGHT have been ..... if not for that "hint" button recharge time.

I will definitely recommend everyone I know try the demo. I want to hear what they did while waiting for the hint button to recharge.

ENJOY! (After THIS, even I need a cigarette).

I wasn't going to, but your review made me buy it.  I looked back in my old mail and found the email from Playrix.  They had the CE on sale for $2.99 'this weekend only' 3 weeks ago.  I tried the link and it sent me to the buy page with the $2.99 price still there, so I bought it.  I've bought other CEs from them for $2.99 sale price, never had a problem.  Here's the link
https://shopper.mycommerce.com/checkout/cart/view
if anyone (Freyasmom) wants to try it.  It says 150 bonus levels, they don't unlock until you get enough experience to reach level 30.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Sounds like a lot of "can't see the forest for the trees"!  But I will give it a look.

I have at least 60 demos dl'd to my GM. I look at them and think  , too many choices?

mercy buckets for the reviews. (Lol did your husband have that one in his bag of sayings? )

Freyasmom -- I enjoy your reviews.  I've never gotten into the FISHDOM games.  As oscar said they seem to have too much going on.  I'm content with GARDENSCAPES and NORTHERN TALES.

oscar -- I'll bet mercy buckets is an English-speaking Canadian thing.
