Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Thank Tirama.  Maybe I can pick up some SEs then to even out the card.

I went for it.  I had two credits, so there is MCF and I figured I would let myself spend $50.  The way my credit card bills it won't be due until January! ( I spent $35)

I picked up:

MCF Dire Grove, Sacred Ground CE
Fear for Sale The 13 Keys CE
Nevertales Smoke and Mirrors CE
League of Light Wicked Harvest CE
Final Cut The True Escapade CE

Grim Tales The Colour of Fright CE

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

The dl for MCF is almost 2G.  Lucky I have lots of allowable.

I have noticed that as I dl these games they are automatically activating.  In the past it has always asked me to click on something else to complete or if I am not sitting here the install fails.  Oh it just asked me to conifm on 13 Keys.  hmm.

Thank you to Freya for the coupon code. I think I may pass it on to my sister.

I jusst received two betas from BFG today, one being a new Mystery of the Ancients.  Blackwater was on of my all time favourite games.  The other is for a new Haunted Train.  I haven't played the first one yet. Don't have it/

Crap I realized looking at my punches I made a boo boo and didn't click FforS as a CE.  I sent off a request to swap it.  I imagine they'll just send me a coupon.  I do hope this FforS reverts to the first two, I didn't care for the water one too much.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Good Lord, I haven't saved my game and now it's frozen in a corner of my screen.  Task manager says it's not responding, and it only takes a quarter of the screen.  It's the top layer, too, I can't even see this whole page.  It was on 'sleep', but it was on 'sleep' all last night with no problem.  Geez,

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

so I had to start over again, and now the game messed up again, but in a different way.  I tabbed out of it to look at the walkthrough and it's like the game disappeared.  It was still on my taskbar but when I pressed on it nothing happened, it's like there's no game there anymore.  I saved it not too long ago, so I don't  have too much to redo, but this is getting ridiculous.  It's hard to remember just exactly what I've done and what needs redoing.  It's so nice to be playing an adventure game again, where the plot and story are the main thing, instead of a totally inane story with a bunch of HO scenes so I don't know if I'll carry on and save like a maniac or call it quits out of frustration.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Wendy...Some of these older games can't take being tabbed out. I think Black Mirror was made when XP was the top computer.  So,  What I do is use my tablet and put the walkthrough from either gameboomers or uhs-hints on that  and when I need to take a peek  I just look at my tablet for a hint or help. At least your problem happened close to a save so not much to redo.  I try to save every 30 minutes and I think you have 24 save slots so if you run out you'll need to save over the oldest saves

I ran into my second door puzzle last night and this one is a toughy.  I am hoping with some sleep I will be able to figure it out this morning.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Don't you just those door puzzles?
I didn't think about having a walkthrough on the tablet, that's a good idea.  I'm really liking the game although I'm currently stuck, have to figure out how to trigger my trip to town.  I just love the atmosphere and story, although I really wish I had a jump map.
Has anyone else played Spirit of Revenge: Cursed Castle?  I"m liking it a lot.  The HOs are very entertaining, sort of like Nevertales, you just never know what you will be doing.  The story is a familiar one, noble girl, commoner boy, but it's well told and well acted.  I care about the people in the story and I want to help them.  I think there were morphs in the CE, but the game itself is good enough that the extra fluff isn't needed.  Jump map with "!"s for actions, but nothing is too far away to walk.
I'm on Level 100 of Imperial Island 2, I think that's the last one.  It seems pretty impossible with all the stuff they want you to get so I'll try some more today, if I don't get it by tonight, oh, well.  It's not an easy game on timed mode, I was using my bonuses a lot, and I ended up really enjoying it.
So after a small drought of so-so games, I'm playing three right now that I really like and I would recommend all of them

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Well they did send me a coupon for a CE.  I'm not sure whether I should turn around and get 13 Keys as a CE or something else.

I did play the beta I got for the new Mystery of the Ancients.  It was a good story, beautiful graphics, a lot of fun, I was sad when it was over, but it was way too easy.  The HO scenes were quite good but the puzzles oy, talk about simplistic.  I do hope they up the degree of difficulty.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Oscar...That's nice that they gave you a CE coupon.  Also you asked when d/l games whether the computer asks you to activate a install.  Yes, with my d/l   I do get asked and if I don't push the button it will say d/l failed.

Speaking of puzzles I did the second door puzzle.  It took me 4 tries with me fiddling around with it, leaving and going back in to fiddle around with it some more.  I feel ridiculously proud I was able to do it with no hints or help.

Regarding the simplistic puzzles I wonder if devs no longer put much thought in their puzzles are we are just getting better at doing them. I think I saw in a ERS game where they had Casual & Hard settings in their puzzles.  I really like this idea, because sometimes you want to challenge the brain and other times you want to relax just before bed and get it over with quick.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

It seems like you can get Sacred Grove for $1.99 for your IPad/Phone.  I have a game or two on my tablet but haven't played them to see how they compare to a PC game.   It says it's 1.6 Gigs, so it takes up a ton of room.  Go for it, Tirama, it says it has bonus content.
