Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I started Dark Romance Vampire in Love on the desktop, it's a darker game so it's nice to have the larger screen, and the sparkles light it up some.   It's got a  neat twist to it, you switch between the boy and girl and play both parts of the story.  I like it so far.  It's a PE with achievements but the HOs seem hard to me so I'll probably only get the 3 in 3 seconds, they have interaction so I won't get the under a minute award, either.  i'm happy enough if I achieve the end of the game  Oh, it has bats to find to buy decor for the outside of your castle and garlic to find to buy fancier trim for your icon and inventory bar.  At least it's something a bit fun to do with your collectables.  I like it so far.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I just came across this post by Underwriter over at BFG in a thread in the Haunted Legends: The Stone Guest CE forum that ended up discussing the sale of BFG ...

This would make it really easy to download and keep our games, being able to download them onto any new computers.

And this is a post by mhatfie in the same thread ...

Big Fish did make an announcement on their Facebook page regarding company being sold. Here is what they said:

Dear Big Fish Fans,
As many of you may have seen in the news, Big Fish Games was acquired this week by Churchill Downs Inc.
Since the acquisition, many of you have asked how this event will affect you, our customers, especially those who have been long time members. It is my pleasure to take a moment to address those questions.
The only change that our Big Fish customers will experience is…NOTHING! Churchill Downs Inc. acquired Big Fish because they admire and appreciate the games business we’ve built to date, and wish to see it remain intact and grow into the future. This acquisition does not change the quantity nor quality of games we will be bringing to Big Fish fans, nor does it change how we will continue to engage with our customers.
Some of you have voiced concern about potential Big Fish employee layoffs. To that, I am delighted to tell you that nothing changes! Churchill Downs is retaining all Big Fish employees to let us do what we do best — make great games for you to play.
You are the reason we built this company. Big Fish, which will remain known as Big Fish, is even stronger now and here for the long haul. We are excited and looking forward to making even more excellent games for you to play! Thank you again for your questions.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I'm really liking Dark Romance Vampire in Love.  It's neat playing the two characters, there's a carrier pigeon that takes the occasional item back and forth between us.  Some of the puzzles are tricky, the HOs aren't real hard but they're too hard for me to get the achievements.  The music is creepy/dramatic, nothing scary has happened in the game but it gives it a fitting atmosphere since the girl has been kidnapped by her future father in law, Count Dracula.  The map is nice and the scene changes are fast.  It's nice to like a game again since I quit partway through the last one I played.

Gamehouse has 50% off so I bought The Beardless Wizard and Big City Adventure London Story for 59 cents eachI got 2 punches for the 59cent games, which filled a card,  Then i used the coupon for the Delicious Emily Super Pack, it has 9 games and retails for $49 or 2 fun tickets, but all I needed was one coupon!  I think I filled my card with 2 .89 centers and 2 .59 centers so 13 games for $2.96Bargain ninja strikes again!

But you have to be able to download the game manager/ap.  If the worry is BFG will no longer support downloadable games, then why would the GM still be available for download and not the games themselves?

External drives can go bad just like hard drives.  There's no way to guarantee you will have your games forever.  Even if BFG continues to exist and allow access to your games for another 50 years, operating systems will change and older games will probably not play on newer computers.  The devs of those games may have gone out of business and nobody will be able to upgrade them to play on newer operating systems.

So you can TRY and safeguard your games and depending on how many you own, spend hours downloading them to an external drive, or you can use that time to play them.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I'm with Tirama on this.

I've been told that the YARD SALE HIDDEN TREASURE games won't play on anything newer than Vista.

Our best assurance that we'll continue along the same is that Paul Thelen will still be there at BIG FISH GAMES.  He worked much too hard to establish and grow this company to just walk away and let it die. I do believe that he will honor the promise that we'll be able to access our games for years.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I have been helping my son & DiL move their belongings over the weekend.  They are all moved now.

I have come back and there is so much to read.

Just having BF games on a external hard drive means that it just saves some room on your computer.  It doesn't mean that you can play them off the external hard drive.  I know this for a fact because I tried it before.  You'll definitely need the game manager unless this changes in the future.

I just figure it's a bit silly for me to worry that I might not be able to access my games forever and therefore I've wasted my money.  If I were really worried that I was wasting money, I'd stop buying games and not buy any more until I've played the ones I already own.

And how many games do each of us own and when we played them we couldn't wait for them to be over and we swore we'd never play them again?

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I finished Gizmos: Spooky Adventures.  I was able to get at least silver on all of the boards, which get as large as 30x30.

This has to be the most difficult nonogram game I've played as far as beating the time needed for par.  And unlike World Riddles, you never have to guess.  It can all be figured out by logic.

I had hoped to get back into playing my HOPA's, but real life continues to interfere.  so I've started playing the first Gizmos game.

I forgot to mention that today's daily deal Grimville: The Gift of Darkness is a fun, quirky game that won't be to everyone's liking.  It has choices that you  make that affect the ending that you get.  I got the horrible ending.
