Did you want to use the PCC you loaned me, Tirama?  I can always wait until next Monday, or later today if you have another to use with it for your 2 punches instead of the Customer Service Coupon.  I haven't used  yours yet.

I don't have 2 games picked out, so go ahead and use the pcc.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I still have to play the first Arizona Rose game so going to wait  on getting today's game.

I'm thinking on getting Puppetshow: Lightning Strikes today or next monday with a pcc.  Started last friday playing Mystery of Joyville and thought it was really good and today started with Souls of the innocent.  How has the Puppetshow series gone downhill?  Is it the gameplay or the story?  Has it progressed too much since the original game?
Mystery of Joyville is almost basically a straight HO game, very linear with no Voice overs and has a great story. Don't get me wrong, but I enjoyed playing Mystery of Joyville even playing non-stop until it was finished.  What I don't get is all the pleas for the series to end.  Is the new puppetshow games really that bad?  Any info would be helpful since I don't want to waste a pcc.

Also, still playing Robinson Crusoe and the Cursed Pirates.  What  a fun game this is.

Wendy...Maybe it is just me and my computer but I don't see your avatar at all.  All that shows up is "Sorry this person either moved or deleted this image".

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

sunshine - regarding Puppetville - I thought the third one was basically a replay of the second one.  Really the same story just set in a new location.  People got annoyed at the 4th one, Return to Joyville, because it changed the back story and by the end of the game or it might have been by the end of the 5th one Destiny Undone, the series had  a "Bobby in the shower it was all a dream in Dallas" feel about it.

I'm not sure if there's another one between Destiny Undone and the current release.  I bailed because I really don't like the way ERS does the HO scenes.  For whatever reason, their progressive silhouettes don't grab me.  And I can't remember which game gave us the creepy puppet helper and forced you to make hats for it, which totally disrupted the flow of the game for me.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Thanks Tirama for the info.  So for you it is both the gameplay and the story.  It sounds like that they did not know how to continue the story which was already written which is a shame because the original story was pretty good.  I hate it when the backstory gets changed like the players won't even notice.  I think one of the Elephant games did that too Grim Tales.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Tirama -- I was happy when I saw the 2nd ARIZONA  ROSE game too.  The reviews don't seem that great though.  I don't have to get anything until October so I've got time.

sunshinej -- I don't see Wendy's avatar either.  haven't for quite a while.

I'm playing the Beta for AWAKENING: THE GOLDEN AGE.  It's a prequel and a bit darker than most of the AWAKENING  games.  I got stuck very early on -- I knew what I needed to do but couldn't find a tool I needed (no SG) -- but I figured it out.  I'm quite enjoying it!  I don't know if it is easier or I'm getting better at iHOPAs but I seem to be able to figure things out.  It also helps that I finally got the map!

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I'm way behind on my Puppetvilles.  I was going to play one earlier this year but I think I had played the first 2 and had the 4th one downloaded but not the third so I decided to wait until I could play the third one.
In typical Wendy fashion I ended up getting a game I wasn't even thinking about, then I read Stusue's reviews, checked BFG and it was there.  Black Rainbow.  I checked the Cateia website and I have several of their games that I enjoyed, they're easy adventure games.  Where Angels Cry and Red Crow Legion.  I also have several of theirs that I haven't played yet, Tales from the Mountain or Dragon Stryx or whatever it is and a couple Captain Brawes.  Now I have to figure out which CE to get next Monday and do not let me forget to get one!!!!!

I tried to put my dog's picture back, I used photobucket before, but I can't make it work again.  I'll do something about it when I get back to unlimited internet.  Or maybe in the next couple of weeks, I just bought 3 gigs and I have to use it by Oct. 19th, that's when I'm shutting off my cellphone for the winter.  I drive people crazy because I get a new number every spring.  This year Verizon gave me a choice for what prefix I wanted and they had a 777 one I picked because it would be easy to remember but then when I got the phone they gave me 394, took me forever to remember my number.  Then when I can finally remember it I get a new one

There!  Not their finest picture, but a good one of Kelso's "Puppy sit".  He almost never sits like a dog, he always sits on his butt like a human.  ETA:  I put some pictures in the "What's Happening" thread.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Tirama...GoVols left a review about the Arizona Rose game in which she said it had very tiny tiles.  I think I'll pass on the second one.  You might want to demo it to see if the tiles are big enough for you.

lilyr...The new Awakenings game sounds good!  I think once that game comes out Awakening will be my next series marathon.  I am already 2 behind as it is.

Wendy...Your dogs are cute.  How funny your big one sits like that.
I have played a couple of Cateia games and enjoyed them (Red Crow Mysteries & Where Angels Cry)  I think that there is going to be a sequel to Where Angels Cry.  Now that you mention Black Rainbow I remember Stusue's glowing review about it.

I'm liking Puppetshow: Souls of the Innocent.  In the main screen  there is a creepy puppet organ grinder who has eyes that stare right through you.  Everytime I hit play or quit I get the shivers seeing it stare at me like that. Lol  No, but really that creepy puppet has such piercing eyes.   Still debating on getting the last one.  I think I can put up with odd gameplay like making hats if the story doesn't stray too far from the original.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Has anyone seen a post by stusue recently?  I tried using the search function but I didn't get any results.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Lily, she hasn't posted in about a week but she is not feeling up to snuff.  I'm sure once she is feeling a bit better she'll be back regaling us with her reviews.

I've been playing Top Secret Finders.  I'm just sorry I didn't play it sooner.  I think the title is just meh.  It is a really good game.  There are a lot of HO scenes but lots of other stuff as well.  Good story and it seems quite long.

I did pick up 9 Clues The Ward with my pcc.
