Betrothed? Really? For a soldier and a leader of men Captain Greg certainly has a rather circuitous way of getting his point across! And B only has 15 days to organize a wedding? While taking care of all the business of running the kingdom? Yikes!

I wonder if everyone is so excited about the Yura's Festival because that's when most people marry? It never seemed to be very well explained in the game. I'm sure that part of Captain Greg's problem with B is that she is NOT a native. I keep forgetting that myself.

WOW!!
Ria and Gavin are two of my favorite characters in AK. Probably because they're both shy and polite. Not pushy like so many of the other people there.
My squabitt didn't like the Yura hat either. I'd get these looks.....

My squabbit loves his festival outfit and wears it all the time. I can hardly get it off him to get it washed.

I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read your post Wendy!!
What kind of mutant squabitt do you have? lol

Day 26
I hope I don't have to much to do today regarding the Yura Festival. If I'm going to get married, there are some personal things I need to attend to. Like something to wear, for starters. And where we are going to live. My current abode is more like an overgrown walk-in closet.
On my desk I find the latest Yura Festival request. Leena needs help assembling more Fairy Art. I have no Fairy Glass in stock, so I'll start my day at Coral Cove. Maybe I can finally find those special runestones Fahleed mentioned and I'll make sure to get enough Fairy Glass so Ria can try her hand at Fairy Art.
Captain Greg drops by and reminds me I wanted to talk. Not now, later, I tell him. I've got to go to Coral Cove and I'd appreciate it if he could keep his soldiers away from there. He has a better idea, he'll come with me to "protect" me. And who's going to protect me from you, I ask. We'll meet up at lunch time.
At Coral Cove, I decide that's it's my turn to try skinny dipping. It takes a while but I finally find enough Fairy Glass for Leena and for Ria. And I find those runestones for Fahleed. While drying off, I think I catch a glipse of chain mail. Go chase him away, Lucky.
Next stop, Fahleed's. I give Fahleed the runestones and he hands them back, telling me they will open a portal at Dawnshadow Lake. Okay. I tell Fahleed I need a very special dress for the Yura Festival because Captain Greg and I are...Fahleed is not listening, he's busy dragging out bolts of blue cloth. Not blue, I tell him, white. Where I come from, this event calls for white. Fahleed's eyes light up. He shows me the most beautiful material I have ever seen. Yes, it's perfect, I tell him, absolutely perfect.
Now to find Ria. She's sitting outside the wingferry station. Come on, let's go and make some Fairy Art, I tell her. At Glennwater Springs, Ria assembles a picture and watches me assemble two others. She solomnly thanks me for helping her and leaves. That child is so serious, I tell Lucky. The effects of the war, no doubt.
Leaving Glennwater Springs, one of the girls form the village stops me and asks me to give something back to Captain Greg. The "something" is a Sunstone Pendant. My auction catalogue describes it as "a common courting gift to young ladies". Looks like the Captain and I will be having a very interesting lunch time chat.
Gavin calls to me. He wants my opinion on the 2 latest fungi tile games he's designed before he makes a decision whether they will be enteratining enogh for the Yura Festival visitors. I play them, but my mind is on that Sunstone Pendant. The games are fine, I tell Gavin.
Captain Greg is not waiting for me at the office. He's left a note to meet him at the Castle. As I walk to the Castle, I notice that somebody is building on a patch of land some distance behind the Squibbit Den. I don't recall authorizing any new construction there. Terrific, another thing to deal with, and something that can't wait until the Festival is over. I ask the workmen who gave them permission to build. Captain Greg, they reply.
Home, Lucky. If I see Captain Greg now, I swear I'll kill him.

I knew Fahleed would prove his worth! Too bad we can't see this dress. Every time I see Ria I just want to hug her. She's a bit less sad-looking since I complained to monika. Apparently getting turned to stone will affect your temperament.
That land had better be quite a ways behind the squabitt hut! I can't imagine having Quinn and Mr. Vanderkins as neighbors! Oh. And maybe Captain Greg authorized the building of a house for you to live in after you're married?

I swear getting turned to stone has left a few rocks in Captain Greg's head.
Quinn lives with his grandfather Old Man Seth. He doesn't bunk with the animals. Behind the Squabbit Den was the only place I could find on the map to squeeze in another building.

Day 27
The next thing I have to do to prepare for the Yura Festival is to find some Fairy Dresses for Mira. I have a bunch of them in the storage cupboard, but Mira says they won't do. She wants ones that have just been found. Who am I to argue with fairies? Besides, I've already got one arguement already penciled in for today with Captain Greg.
The dresses are somewhere in Coral Cove, Rosetum Gardens and the Rose Garden. We'll start at the Rose Garden and go there directly instead of stopping off at the office first, I tell Lucky. That way we can avoid Captain Greg asking where we're going and following us. But if you do see him, bite him!
I search the entire day, but only have 1 dress to show for my efforts. When I finally check in at the office, I find even more work orders on my desk. I start counting...23, 24, 25, 26 work orders besides the one for the Fairy Dresses! These people are out of their minds. I can't do this. I...can't...do...this! I scream as I sweep the entire contents of my desk onto the floor.
A soldier sticks his head in and says Captain Greg requests that I meet him now at the Castle regarding a matter of great urgency. I storm out, muttering under my breath. Now what's wrong?
Captain Greg is standing by those ugly statutes of Yura, frowning. So what is this great matter of urgency, I ask him, did a pigeon poop on your beloved statues? We need to talk about planting grass for the festival, he tells me.
Grass? You summoned me all the way up here to talk about grass? Do you have any idea how busy I am? I ask him. He retorts that I can't be all that busy since I left early yesteday without telling him I wouldn't be meeting him.
Fine, I reply. We'll talk about grass, Do you want to discuss the grass first, or shall we start with why you followed me to Coral Cove after I asked you to stay away? Or maybe you'd prefer to start with the house you authorized to be built without clearing it with me first? I'll let you decide, but if it were up to me, I'd like to start with this. I was instructed to return it to you. I hand him the Sunstone Pendant.
Captain Greg sighs. It's all in the past, he insists. Since the day we met, there's been nobody but me. But what happened in the past, I ask. He points out he's a soldier, not a monk. And because nobody in the past objected to going to Coral Cove with you, you thought I didn't mean it, I surmise. He promises it won't happen again.
What about the house? It's for us, he tells me. Now it's my turn to sigh. I figured that out, I tell him, I'm not an idiot. But if I'm going to live there, I should have been consulted. In Beechwood Cove, couples make these decisions together.
Captain Greg is losing his patience. He points out I'm no longer in Beechwood Cove, I'm in the Skyward Kingdom where the man provides the home and the woman is grateful. For good measure, he throws in that maybe I need to make more of an effort in learning their customs.
Here come the tears. What do you think I've been doing since the day I arrived, I sob. I've never seen squabbits before, or talking owls, or goblins, or fairies, or moonflowers, or wingferries, or...People ask me to find things I've never seen or heard of and then they use them to make more things I've never seen or heard of. The food is strange, I get a headache trying to read the Goblin posters, I had to change the way I dress...Now you want me to change what I think and believe. If I do that, I won't be me anymore.
Captain Greg looks stunned. He wants to know why I never told him any of this before. Because, my dear Captain, I didn't want you or anybody else to think I was stupid.
What happens now, I ask. I look at my ring and ask if he wants it back. He shakes his head no. Maybe we could compromise, I suggest. If he promises that the person or people responsible for the festival statues and lamps will not be involved in any way with the house, I promise not to interfere or ask any more questions about it. Deal? Deal, he agrees.
That just leaves the grass to discuss. The grass can wait, Captain Greg tells me. It's late. Time to go home. I shake my head no. I have to go back to the office. He replies that the stuff on my desk can wait. If it were still on my desk, it could wait, I admit. But it's on the floor. I have to pick it up.
He smiles. We have to pick it up, he says. It's not his problem, it's mine, I insist. He touches the ring on my finger and tells me that my problems are now our problems. What about his problems, I ask. Are they also ours? He shakes his head no. I sigh. Well, maybe, he concedes, depending upon what it is. Deal? Deal, I agree.

Tirama, I must admit I got a little choked up reading this. What a great episode!
