Dental Work

Had another appointment yesterday.  Got the go ahead for the permanent crowns.  So I'll be going back again next week.  They should give me a reserved parking space, I feel I'm there so often.

Re: Dental Work

I feel for you. I've had plenty of dental work over the years from accidents, tooth grinding and a couple of surgeries.  I have no problem with dentists etc, but I tell you that is the only thing in movies that makes my arm hair stand up, something with teeth.  In keeping with the Casino Games, I'll see you with two bridges, and 8 crowns.  Lol.  I'm sure everything will look great.

Re: Dental Work

You don't want to know how many crown I have to get.  NO bridges, however.

Re: Dental Work

Tirama, when I first saw this topic I thought I would be seeing some pictures of your dental work...yikes!!  luckily no pictures.  Good to know that you will be getting permanent crowns.

Re: Dental Work

My bridges are related to my orthodontia work as a kid. 30 Yrs later, so it held up pretty well.  I gather you are getting crowns on most of your chewers.  I will send healing thoughts and virtual chicken soup your way.

Does this happen to anyone else?  I notice it when I reread what i have typed.  I think in contractions, but I don't type them, I type out the full words.  Odd.

Re: Dental Work

Tirama, when you say crowns is that the same as implants?

Re: Dental Work

No.  A crown is placed over a tooth or an implant.

I'm having it done to improve the strength of the tooth.  The amount of silver filling compared to the amount of enamel puts the tooth at risk of cracking.  Should the teeth crack, then the tooth would have to be removed and then we're talking implants, which is a screw placed in the bone and then covered by a crown.  Implants can also be used to anchor bridges or dentures.

Re: Dental Work

And implants cost a small fortune.

Re: Dental Work

Well, today they took off the temps and filed down the newly exposed part of the teeth to prepare them for the permanent crowns.  Then my mouth was filled with dental putty for impressions.  Back went the temps.  The permanent crowns will be ready in two weeks.

Then two weeks later a cleaning, soething between a regular cleaning and the deep scaping cleaning.  Then I get to do it all over again with the upper left quad.
