Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

I've got to stay away from the BF forum.  I'm so sick of people moaning about people listing things for high prices, a high price being anything listed to start over 200.  Right, I'm going to sell you something for 10 coins when it cost me 18 gloves to play the mini game to get it.  Oh, and don't dare bid on anything in the last minute.  It's "theirs" don't you know, because they bid on it first.

The previous daily quests weren't any better.  They took less than 1 minute.  People complained because they were so short.  Now they are complaining because it takes all day to win an item.  No, it doesn't.  Note the time when the auction is ending, go do something else,  come back and bid on it in the closing seconds.  Or do a deal with a friend.

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

I'm sure everyone has seen those signs at amusement parks that read "You must be this tall to ride this ride."  I'm thinking ART should have a sign reading "You must be this intelligent to play this game."  And I'm not sure I'd qualify!   I've been bidding on Victorian teapots for lots of coins and never getting them.  This morning I looked at the thing again (I wanted to find it at auction) and I could buy it for 6 gold!  So now I'm the proud ovner of a teapot!

I'm hoping the Independence Day quests will be many and fun.  Aside from the DQs I'm out of quests (again).  Any minute now my Storage Building will FINALLY be all constructed!

The DQs do suck.  And the rewards aren't that good either.  I do look to see what mine is and will put in a couple of low bids and list 3 of the same for low amounts (if I have a lot) and for 1, 6, and 12 hour limits so people in various time zones have a shot.  Either most people have given up on the DQs or people won' buy from me because I outbid someone at the last minute.  I listed 3 Modern Sundials for 10 coins each.  2 were returned.  The 3rd just sold for 200 coins.

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

The DQ's are a crap shoot.  Depends on how many people received the same DQ, what hour you list stuff.  The people not experienced with the auction think anything over 100 coins is too expensive.

Remember how excited we used to get when somebody paid us more than 1,000 coins for something?  In hindsight, we were probably giving it away.

The DQ's have breathed new life into the auctions.  Between updates, most of the stuff listed was way overpriced.

Lilyr - if you're short of coins but still have a lot of glitch gold, you could buy another teapot and sell it.  You could even buy a Blue & White plate.  (Now there's a DQ that BoomZap should be ashamed of.)

I won a total of 6 bars of gold at the penny arcade.  Took advantage of robgleam's offer to buy a special collectible for 200 bars.  And I read that at least one person received gold in the 50 key chest.

I've got my gold back up to 1416 and still can earn about 300 more completing achievements.

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

Tirama -- Define " a lot".  LOL  I have about 350k gold and 350k coins.  Not the millions that other people have but I'm petty comfortable with that.

I'm still debating turning in Platinum collections for the Achievement.  I'd need about 22 more.  It just doesn't seem worth it.  I looked over the resources I had -- anywhere from 200 to almost 500 -- so I played some 16 & 18 resource minis.

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

The plate costs 6 bars.  I think you can afford it.  And if either of us gets a quest for it, you can sell it to me for a million and I can sell it back.  Ain't nobody crazy enough to pay  a million for it.

On the platimum collections, complete the women's clothing for envelopes and the ones that give coins.  Who needs more building supplies?  Stay away from the sundials.  I can't tell whether some of them are still trading in gold bars and you don't want to lose your gold.

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

Thanks Tirama.  I went ahead and bought the 3 things that have been pulled from the game that i didn't have for gold.  So now every single collection of mine has been redeemed.  Yeah.  I'm bored!   I still have 2 or 3 Thanksgiving collections that aren't complete.  I looked in the Auction and two items are for sale.  I can afford the gold buyout but, with everything that has been happening with gold disappearing, I've decided to pass.  Maybe I'd risk it if we didn't have the Independence Day quest coming up.

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

lilyr, buyout is safe.  Two people gave me gold via buyout.  One of them told me they have bought over 200 of the yellow easter eggs on buyout to help people who had lost their gold.

Another challenging DQ for me:  Raja's Will.  Drats!  I have things I wanted to do tomorrow.  Like rearrange furniture.

I put up Rajah's Will for 6 hours but don't know if you can catch it in the morning.

Probably not.  I'll check in tomorrow and see what's for sale.  I don't mind paying somewhat over what I think something is worth, I've certainly made enough money from other people doing that same thing.
