stusue -- Hope you are feeling better. Shouldn't you see a doctor? This seems to have lasted a week (whatever it is).
sunshinej -- I made the same mistake you did. I bought BARROW HILL because it said it was a puzzle game and I lime puzzles. It's really a MYST clone. Tried it, got 2 scenes in and was totally stuck!

Anki and stusue, been noticing all these games you're getting from GOG and I'm wondering, are these mostly adventure games you all are getting. I registered with GOG a few years ago and did get Myst, Riven, The Longest Journey, Sanitarium and some freebies but only dabbled in Myst and was totally confused. Not very good at adventure games so been hesitant to buy any on the sale. stusue, I admire your ability to write the reviews as it would surely give me a headache to spend the time you do to write such detailed reviews; can't imagine trying to do it if I wasn't feeling well. Hope you get to feeling better soon.
Tee, thanks so much!
Yes, all the games I've got in the sale are point-and-click adventure games. However, they're nothing like Myst, which I find confusing as well. All the ones I've got are pretty simple in comparison, and I always play them with a walkthrough right next to me. Just imagine a HOPA with no HOPs and no minigames, just the adventure bit with inventory puzzles or straight puzzles, and quite often lots of conversation. They're normally also a lot longer. But, apart from one, they've all been under $2, with one just under $4, all being 75-90% off! How could I resist adding some more games at those prices and discounts to my ever increasing unplayed list? They were all on my wish list and I've been waiting ages for the prices to come down.

I started playing Myths of the World: Fiends and Fairies. So far so good. I like our little fairy friend. Though I'm not sure I'm keen on the game mechanics. I don't know, mouse movements seem a bit choppy to me. Not sure if it is due to my computer/mouse or if its the game itself.
Update on Lexi. She's doing okay so far. My dad is back home and he said he'll call the surgeon to talk with him about options and what not. And then we'll go from there.

Hey, hi Lily!!!! ** big wave **
With my illness I've felt as sick as a dog 24/7 for nearly 26 years, so I'm used to it. It's just that I've been even more stressed out than usual these past few weeks and so had a relapse and am still trying to get over that. So, no, a doctor can't do anything to help, but thanks for the thought.
I loved Barrow Hill! But, as I said, I played it with a walkthrough right next to me, so got to enjoy the game and the story with none of the frustration. I'm not too proud to say I use one. However, the puzzles in point-and-click adventure games are inventory puzzles, rather than the minigames/puzzles we get in HOPAs, although you do come across some straight puzzles, like to turn on lights, or a fountain, etc.
Maybe you'd enjoy Barrow Hill or another adventure game if you tried using a walkthrough as well!

Misscat, I'm glad Lexi's doing okay so far. Fingers crossed your dad has a good talk with the surgeon and you can work out what's best for Lexi.
Please let us know what you thought of Myths of the World: Of Fiends and Fairies CE once you've finished. It looks good but I can't remember if I've even demoed it yet. I wasn't playing much of anything last week.
If I ever have problems with the cursor - eg. if it's sluggish or wanders all over the screen - I just choose the system cursor and that always seems to fix the problem.

misscatlady -- I'm glad lexi is doing well right now. I hope that a rational, reasoned decision can be made about the chemo/radiation. I've seen people keep trying and trying and getting so sick from the treatment even though the patient, MDs and family realize that there is almost no hope of it doing any good.
stusue -- Okay. I wasn't aware that this was a long-term issue for you. In that case I'll just hope that you get over it. {{{HUGS}}}. Nope. Not even with a walkthrough. BARROW HILL is waaaay out of my comfort zone! Heck. Some HOPAs are way out too. I'm definitely looking forward to MANOR MEMOIRS. I'll wait until it gets to BFG though.

Thanks for the hugs, Lily!
You can demo Manor Memoirs at the link I gave you to Playrix, if you want. An hour just like at BFG.
I think you'd like Mysteries of Neverville: The Runestone of Light, if you haven't already demoed it.

Okay feeling pretty dumb right now. What do you mean by choose system cursor?

Thanks Lilyr. My dad is leaning towards not doing the chemo/radiation mainly because we don't want to put Lexi through any more trama/stress. She is still recovering from the two back to back surgeries that she went through last week (Thursday). We'll have to wait and see what the vet said.
On a good note. She has been really happy today. She ate all her dinner and even a bit extra. Which made all of us quite happy. She was realy happy to see my dad when he got home from work.
