Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

lilyr and barre - Dirk helped me out by buying my medal and then auctioning it back to me.  He pointed out that there was another one out there and advised me to go for that one as well to be sure.  Didn't even realize who was selling until I won it!  Got both medals, so I can breathe easy for the next 4 1/2 hours until I see what my next quest is.

I'm thinking I might take a day off from MC and just play whacky auction and clean up my friend list tomorrow.

Wendy - if you're thinking of starting a third game, my advice would be don't.  I know how you love the auction and between the auction and the keys, you'll go crazy.  And don't forget, there's supposed to be a free-to-play Mystery Case Files game coming out for PC.  We're all going to want to be in on that one, right?

Just sold two Riggs posters for 150,000 a piece on buyout!

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

Tirama - you bought my medal for 50 coins, do you want the coins back?  I figured since it's such a small amount, you wouldn't bother, right?  If you post what is your DQ item, I'll help by putting up a starting bid of 10 coins for 1 hour, 10000 buyout so no one would buy it outright....or I might just put a starting bid of 1 coin.....I'll see how it goes.
lilyr - I'll help you too if you post your DQ item here.

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

I don't want the coins back.  Hopefully the next DQ will be for a more common item and I won't have to send out an SOS.

YIKES !! Good for you!

Right now I'm trying to get everything in my collections to a minimum of 5.  Bad move!  I'm getting tons of those pesky collectible bits.  At least it gives me something to do.

I started updating my Storage Building to level 5 yesterday.  120 HOURS!! I can buyout for gold but I want the gold to drop a bit.

A F2P MCF?  Hmmmm....

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

I don't think there's any quest that requires you to go into the storage building so I just let it take the 120 hours.

You can check how many keys you've got by clicking on the gifts icon.  Lilyr, I want to send you some keys, but you need to select a chest.

I sold another Riggs poster for 50,000.  Somebody paid me 8,000 for a Baa Baa Biscuit Barrel.  I'm just putting things up for auction, mostly the stuff I have a lot of, with a starting bid equal to the least amount I'd be happy to get and a buyout price much higher.  It's pretty much a crap shoot what will sell. Sometimes you get the item back and it will sell for big bucks the next time you list it.  Sometimes it sells for the opening bid. But sometimes somebody pays an unbelievable amount for it.

If you don't want all those extra pieces of collectibles because you're not interested in playing the slot machine, you could auction them off.  People are paying high prices for them.

Obviously I edited your post.  Thanks again Tirama.  I was trying to keep track of the keys people gave me and when it hit 50 I was going to pay to finish the upgrade.  I wasn't aware we could check our chests from gifts.   I also wasn't aware you could use the collectible pieces in the slots OR auction them.  Since I'm not getting any paintings (or help from Boomzap -- I just got a lame "you'll get them if you have the cat." -- which I have) maybe I should auction them all off!

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

You don't use the collectibles in the slot.  You get a star for getting all 5 pieces and the star can be used in the third slot machine.

You usually get good service from Monica.  Why not send her screen shots of the cat, the quest, and the city when it's in the proper mode?  Does the painting show up in the area with the collectibles?  As I recall, it's the last item shown - you have to scroll all the way to the end to see it.

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

What would I do without you Tirama?  Again, thanks!

Yes, monika is quite responsive and helpful.  BUT my problem surfaced on Friday.  She's already into her weekend then.  I got a PM from her early this morning.

The paintings have never shown up in the scroll bar.  I'd read that they do in the BFG ART forum threads.  There are other people with my problem.  But there are also people who say they've gotten the paintings on the first or second try.

On a happier note -- there actually is an employee of Boomzap's (an artist, I think) who looks like Captain Greg.  He's based in Indonesia.  Anyone up for a road trip? lol

Re: Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'

My DQ was for the Red Jersey.  Got one before I went to bed.  Paid more than it's worth, but I did sell those Riggs Posters, so I figured peaace of mind was worth something.  Used some of my money to buy that stupid Dog Painting for the antique shop and opened the last locked mini game.

I've begun the friends purge.

I've already claimed dibs on Captain Greg.   He hasn't shown up in AK in a while.  I like doing his quests, they're usually easy.
