Mine was sent Oct 3rd 8:29AM GMT. I think that's 00:29 PDT isn't it? So I think maybe reading your email as well helped!
I played Vengeance: Lost Love. Liked it but it was short!!!!

Fudge, it seems that I got my reply first, which seems strange, as I would have thought that he got yours first, said no, then got mine, checked with the content team again having got a second email, then said that they'd check with the developers. But it seems odd if he got yours first...

I've just finished Vengeance: Lost Love. OMG, was it short !!!!
I knew it was short ... but it only took me 2.5 hours and that included breaks like getting dinner and posting my last post, as well as checking out a YouTube walkthrough for one of the MGs. But I also used the hint quite a bit to move around, especially when I'd missed picking something up in a zoom scene that was invisible in the shadows.
PROs:
- great graphics and amazing animation - much better than most CEs!
- I loved the fire - looked real
- good V/Os and L/S
- I really liked the few MGs
- not very difficult but fun and you had to work things out yourself
- eg. 5 digit code to open a door - trial and error
- eg. turning 4 skulls - trial and error - VERY challenging
- each skull could be turned once or more than once
- it took 8/9 different turns, so each skull more than once
- but which skull when, how often, and how many turns each time?
- I looked at a YouTube walkthrough for that one
- I got the first 4 turns but then too time consuming
CONs:
- SHORT
- very few areas to explore - the house and yard, stream, fishing shed and graveyard, mines
- every HOP was repeated once and easy (but not stupidly so)
- all the objects you'd removed were back in the scene the second time - grrrrrrrrrrrr
- but at least interactive objects were as you'd left them, eg. scissors were together
- first a straight list (only the first few had a couple of easy interactions)
- then straight silhouettes
- you get 1-3 objects each time, which really shortened the game!
- more often than not these objects weren't even in the HOP!
- no touch - had to use the mouse and couldn't turn off contextual icon changes
Recommendation: only with an expiring PCC or to fill a card as it's simply way too short - or with a FunPass
I really liked what I played - especially the graphics and animation - but at the end you think you're about to go into the mines and the adventure was going to continue, you're just getting into the game, when a screen comes up and tells you what happened to everyone! With a The End. Had you not got 1-3 objects in every HOP the game would have been a lot longer.
But I got it with a PCC so I'm not upset about how short it is. I chose to play it today as it was late and I only wanted a short game. I didn't want to start a CE and then have to stop halfway through, forgetting what I was doing when I started again tomorrow. So it was perfect for that.
So yes, I recommend the game as the quality is good. It just lacks quantity. But only if you have an expiring PCC with no other games you want, or if you need a game to fill a card.

stusue -- Thank you. I thought FudgeChi's poem was good too.
I guess I'll have to take another look at EPISTORY. I wasn't impressed when I saw it this morning.

Lily, no problemo.
You have to give Epistory a chance. As long as you like typing, I'd suggest playing as much of you can of the demo, although I think even then you're not going to get to the part in the game when it gets really interesting when the puzzles start.
It starts out really easy, just typing words as you wander around, blowing up logs and getting rid of some creepy crawlies, and expanding your world. But then you get to new areas, each of which is harder than the one before, and much more interesting and imaginative, and then the whole-scene puzzles start. For example, I'm currently in the water/ice world and you have to choose between fire/ice words to get rid of the approaching attackers, depending on whether the words above are orange or blue. The only way to move around in this world is by sliding over ice. In one area, where I'm currently stuck, you have to slide over the whole room, going over all the blue squares to turn them on, while avoiding all the orange squares, which turn off all the blue squares. It's exactly the same as the minigame you find in HOPAs where something slides around a grid, only stopping when it hits an obstacle or a wall, but in this case it's an entire room. The entire area's like that, the only way to move around anywhere is by sliding, freezing water into ice, then sliding around, working out how to get where you want to go by working out a strategy to get there by sliding until you hit something, then your next move, having to reach certain areas to open gates, etc, all whilst trying to avoid monsters. You can die but you immediately restart where you died, giving you time to get the heck out of Dodge until you can work out a better strategy.
It sounds complicated but it really isn't. The area I'm currently in is very challenging, trying to work out how to get around by sliding, but you work up to that and I think we've all had lots of practice in that particular minigame, which just happens to be one of my favs.
I can see that it wouldn't be for everyone, and it does start out really easy and slow, but it's definitely worthwhile sticking it out for a bit as it gets better and better as you learn the controls and how the game works and venture further afield, once you find all the chests and the areas you have to find to open up new areas. There's a map that's not so helpful in moving around but it will show you where all the chests and gates, etc. are. As you level up you also get to choose powerups, which also help.
It's one of the most original and imaginative games I've ever been lucky enough to play.

Thanks stusue. I'll definitely demo it!

Fudge
Are you playing/have you played Alicia Griffith: Lakeside Murder today?
I'm stuck but, as one of the statistics is how many hints you used, I want to have a great big fat 0 there!
And there's no walkthrough, anywhere!
I'm at Albert's shack but have no idea what to do next.
Well, I know what I have to do but no idea how to do any of them!
I'm stumped and thought you might be able to help, if you've played past Albert's shack.
This is one challenging adventure (MGs but no HOSs so far)!
It's the perfect game to play with someone as we could help each other ... if you don't want to use hints.
Anyway... I hope you can help me ...

I hope it misses you too, Tiramasue.
Sun, I downloaded the Alicia game to play but I just got a black screen with the odd flash of graphics in it! It's the end of my playing time today but I'll re-download it and see if I can get it working tomorrow. Sounds right up my street and it would be good to play it together.
I've now finished The Agency of Anomalies: Mind Invasion PE and Laruaville 4. That was my favourite of the Anomaly games that I've played so far. I went ahead and did Laruaville 4 even though it's a Christmas one because I wasn't so keen on 3.
