Re: The Chat Lounge

Mila, I remember writing a post about the flowers, but it's not there.  A nice view.
Hubby is in Rhode Island.  He texted me that it was too expensive to live there.  Geez, that's what I've been tellling him.  I asked  him if he had another plan and he said "No".    So maybe I'll get to go to Iowa, you can rent a place for $500/mo there.  And the RV is still in Florida, we can always go back there.  I'm refusing to really worry about it until the end of September

Re: The Chat Lounge

FYI, I reverted back to Windows 7 from Win 10.  I liked it fine and had no problems until I went to play The Mystery of the Crystal Portal  (one of the oldies on my challenge list).  It went to a bigger BFG logo and knocked me out after the developer logo came on.  Then last night, tried to play an older M3 and the opening screen was so large, could not find a start button.

Decided to revert back before my month is up and lo and behold, both those games loaded just fine.  I have too many old games still to play and until BFG provides compatibility for those games (unlikely), I will just stay with my trusty Win 7.

Re: The Chat Lounge

I'm not surprised that older games, especially CRYSTAL PORTAL, wouldn't run on Win 10.  I have Win Vista and I can still play the 2 YARDSALE games (which I love) but people have said they won't run on Win 7 or newer.  I don't want to have to buy a new computer but I think I'll have to so I'll have this one as backup for my older games.

Re: The Chat Lounge

I think I'm on 8.1.  I just ignore all those tiles on that one screen and just use the desktop.
Hubby has a Windows phone and keeps telling me how great it is with the live tiles.  I really don't see much difference between them and hitting the app icon on the Android phones.  He gets really mad at me when I tell him that, lol.  He keeps saying "But  you only have to hit this button" and I keep saying "But I only have to hit that button on the Android".  I just don't get it, or if I am getting it, I guess it just doesn't ;make that much difference to me.  All this technology doesn't impress me that much because I'm still waiting for my flying Jetsons car.  I grew up under the impression that by the year 2000 I would be able to fly my car wherever I wanted and get there in just a few minutes.  Until that happens I'm not impressed by anything.

Re: The Chat Lounge

That and the moving sidewalks to take you right to your door!

I think the technology on phones is all pretty much the same.  I have friends who love their Samsungs and the android tech.  I have an IPhone because its a work phone and paid for, before that I didn't even have a touchscreen and I love techie stuff but too be honest phones do zip for me, I use it to call, text and take pictures.  Directions when I'm in the car.  Otherwise it is generally in the bottom of my purse or charging in the other room.  The shock and horror of some people that I don't take it with me when I go for my walks.  I am definitely not tethered to it.

Milia I had such a good laugh about the flowers when you said I hate her!  lol

Lily I love those Yard Sale games.  I do still have my old tower (2 actually) with XP and it will run on that I beleive but the thing is so cranky it take forever to boot and moves like molasses.  I have no idea why as there is barely anything on it anymore.  I need to get rid of them but I think I'll have to demolish the insides first in case there is anything still on them.  I may for nostalgia play the Yard Sales first.

Re: The Chat Lounge

Firstly I must comment with one of the favourite topics for Canadians to yak about, the weather! Lol.  Very strange indeed, last week the extra blanket came out, I think it was  12C one night. During the day it was gorgeous and stayed around 23C.  Now we are back to the 30C of July.  And humid.  I can't believe it is almost mid week and the 1 St of September.  How did that happen!?  I don't even feel like I've been outdoors except to do chores. 😠

I have a multitude of pics to resize and post of both the infamous Eddie Bear who is up to a whopping 40lbs and hasn't had any more seizures. And the jewelry I've been making.  I am hoping to have enough handicrafts done to warrant a stall at one of the Christmas bazaars in the area. Fingers crossed.  I wanted to make a little extra cash.

Tomorrow I've taken the day off and I'm going to head out to my parents.  It's Mom's bday, 74 don't tell her I told you.  Today I made her a jello poke cake.  Figure those are nice and light.  Love them.  Friday I have to bake another cake, for of all people my ex husband.  He's having all his family over for a bbq and invited me so yes I did offer to make something.  Lol he said if he had his way I'd just make everything.  Uh not but I did offer to make everyone's favourite salad that I do if he paid for everything.  It is a wild rice one and two cups of that is about $11 on its own.  I can see him trying to wheedle more out of me. It will be nice to sit and have margaritas with my sister in law.  She's the only person I ever sit and get tipsy with.  I think I'll probably drop the food off and come home and then walk over to his place.

It is going to be one hot 2 hour drive tomorrow.  I'm not hugely find of air in the car I'd rather have the windows open, but it's mainly highway and Eddie will be with me so air it is.  I'm still going to put him in his travel crate which is a little small for him but I figure safer than have him in the back possibly eating the seats and trying to get into the front.

Re: The Chat Lounge

Eddie had seizures?  Yikes!  How did I miss that.  I'm glad he hasn't had any more.  Was a reason ever found? Hope your mom enjoys the cake.  Can you wish her a   from us?  Will Tank just stay home?  From what you've said about your ex I'd get the money up front for that wild rice salad.  The cake should be okay.  Hope you enjoy.

Re: The Chat Lounge

Lily,
Eddie - he was having little seizures, shaky legs and had two scary ones a couple of days apart.  I have had quite a time with him.  Three rounds of antibiotics, even a deworming again just to be on the safe side.  He has fairly chronic diarrhea and something called giardia which is rather hard to shake.  All said though he is full of piss and vinegar, as they say, all the time.  Loves to play play play.  They are not really sure why the seizures, one more full on one and he will need epilepsy meds.
I certainly will pass on your best wishes to her, its my nephew's 20th as well, they always celebrate together.  I think they are all going out for dinner but I will be on my trek home by then.  and yes Tank stays home by himself.  I think he probably appreciates the peace and quiet.  I still drop Eddie off at my neighbours if I'm going to be gone more than 4 hours. A plus to working from home is no 9 -10 hrs away.

Ex lol he actually is much better (most of the time) and often tries to give me money(which i say no thanks). It was more things and just being a bleep bleep.  I think he is just trying to hang on how he can.  I'm looking forward to the bbq, a couple of them I haven't seen in two years (with the exception of a funeral a month ago), the others I socialize with more than he does and his aunt and uncle are here from Israel (i've had dinner with them already).  It should be fun.

Re: The Chat Lounge

Oh dear oscar!  Eddie certainly has turned out to be quite a handful!  If giardia is as tough to shake in animals as it is in humans it might take a while.  I wonder if there is something he keeps getting into that keeps him colonized.

I hope you enjoy the birthday celebration even if you'll be on your way home before dinner.

My ex and I get along much better now.  And we can enjoy mutual interests and even the (short) vacation together!

Re: The Chat Lounge

I think I'm going to be spending the winter up north this year, yucky, yucky.  We can share a house with another couple and their toddler for 700/mo our share.  I'm here right now.  My dogs get along with their dogs great and they like the baby, too.  Hubby is happy and hasn't had his nightmares since he's been here.  We're only a block from the bay so it's a nice area and a decent rent considering the location and that it's a house, not an apartment.   There might be a problem with getting the utilities switched to a new name because there's a big unpaid bill so everything is contingent on that so my plans might change last minute.   What's it like to have a normal life?
