Re: The Chat Lounge

I'm waiting with bated breath for the quote on doing my bathroom.  I hope it is in my budget it's something I've wanted done for 15 years.  Yesterday I hacked down a bush out front that I always wanted to get rid of!  It's so nice to be able to make all the decisions.  I spent hours on Saturday and Sunday just cleaning up out there and things are shaping up.  I did a lot of the work in the fall.  I had hoped to mow the lawn today, a two hour chore but it decided to rain.  Fingers crossed that a neighbour did not forget that he said he would come over with his chainsaw and take down three little trees.  These things are an irritant here.  They are just bascially a weed and they turn into these bloomin' tree things.  They pop up everywhere.

Wendy I've always been the one to do the work in the house for some reason.  I mapped out the whole fuse box one day and I changed every switch and outlet in this house myself, so I hear ya. But I think it is very good knowledge to have and can never be too much.  I would love to be able to take a course on home maintenace and learn little things about plumbing and small repair jobs.  Just the proper way to do things.

Re: The Chat Lounge

Oh and it is nice and warm, all the windows are open, but the farmers decided to spray their fields.  Smells like pig poop.  blech.  A couple of years ago on my ride in to work I drove thru a lot of farmland, I basically live in cottage country.  Anyways one of the farms is an onion farm and they fertilize with rotten onions, now there is a smell that curls the hair in your nose and makes your eyes water!  Truely awful.

Re: The Chat Lounge

When I had to do some peering a couple of years ago, I had to get rid of these huge holly bushes that had grown halfway up the windows and the stumps were huge.  They had to get a pickup in and pull them out.  But now I have a nice landscaped front of the house with boxwoods, minitaure roses, these purple spiky things, and some other stuff.  Looks so much better but you do have to keep them pruned and cut back or they can get out of hand.

I have no grass in my backyard because of a huge maple tree but have two sections that I have planted hostas, cannas and various flowers.  Mostly do hanging plants but those have to be done every year, so thinking of things to add that I won't have to replant every year.  Wish I had dug up some of my folks' peonies and replanted them.  Also was thinking about a beautiful vine that was grown on the patio outside of their retirement community ~ looked it up and it's called hummingbird or trumpet vines because of the trumpet shaped flowers that attract hummingbirds but I've heard it can be very invasive if you don't keep it pruned and cut back.  I have some places along my fence where the soil is not so good but those vines would work great, I think.  Anyone have any experience with them.

Re: The Chat Lounge

And with the good comes the bad.  I don't think I will be able to take Milo.  I found out this afternoon that the owner is going to sell the company and I'll be out of a job.  Not sure when that would all take place but how can I commit to the expense of a new little guy if I end up on unemployment and I know my husband would squirm out of support saying he didn't have a job either. I'm in a quandary. I think the right thing to do is to let someone else have him.  My heart says otherwise.  I'm going to see him tomorrow so I'll have to make a decision by then and give them the courtesy of a face to face if I don't take him.

Re: The Chat Lounge

Oscar, I'm so sorry.  Just when everything was falling into place for you.  Do you think there's a possibility the new owners might keep you on?  It would be easier for them to leave the basic employees in place if they intend to keep running the business as is.
Thankfully we have a pet clinic near us that is really cheap on the basics, like shots and spay/neuters.  They only charge $20 for an office call if you want to actually see the vet, so it makes it affordable and they're always packed during their walk-in clinic hours.  How does Tank seem without his brother?  When we got our Chihuahua our Jack Russell was more excited than we were, lol.  He obsessed over that puppy for 48 hours, wouldn't go to sleep, wouldn't stop sniffing him, just stayed right there with him, it was love at first sight.  He thought we got the puppy for  him.

No matter how much I complain, I'm grateful for all I have.

Re: The Chat Lounge

Well Wendy as you can guess, I went to see him and that's that, he will be joining our merry little band.  I'll make it work, lol I can stand to miss a few meals.  I'm not really sure about any sale and the ramifications.  It would be absorbed into a much larger company so I think my position at least would be redundant.  Well see. I'm just staying positive, or sticking my head in the sand! Lol. It would take some time is the offer is put in place to wind down so I'm not going to panic quite yet.  Tank was a super big bro with Winston and I expect he'll be with Milo, and the name is a perfect fit for him.  I had a cuddle found his sweet spot and he was in bliss have his ears rubbed.  They walk like little drunken sailors.  I might go back up in a couple of weeks, he's about an hour away, and he can come home a around the 10th of June.  Fingers crossed the bathroom will be completed by then.  The vets around here are so pricey. The only time you see a discount is $10 rabies shots at one place.  My vet charged me $136 Monday for bloodwork on Tank.  $32 of it was a blood collection fee. Fortunately, knock wood he has always been really healthy, only gets his heart worm bills and his shots once a year.  I had this blood done because despite 3 miles of walking a day he is 130lbs.  I thought maybe a thyroid problem. Nope, so I'm just going to reduce his food bit by bit.

Bottomline I've decided the right thing is me!  It was amazing seeing them, looking like little guinea pigs at 3 weeks and the other litter at 6 wks looking like mini Tanks. Actually the other litter was split the little hussy had had two fellas, naughty girl and had 2 from one daddy and 3 from the other. Quite evident as daddy one was a berner daddy two a standard poodle.

To put his size in perspective I wear a size 7 glove and its a little big.  and my wrists are less than 6 inches. so compared to the earlier pics he is coming along nicely!
